Legend of the Giant Rocks Couple in La Rioja
Exploring the Central Plateau of Spain ~ La Rioja (Region)
When you visit La Rioja province, you absolutely must check out Autol's "El Picuezo" and "La Picueza"! 🤩🌄
These clay giant rocks are not only a natural wonder but also come with a fascinating legend about a couple! According to the story, these two rocks were originally a couple who were caught stealing grapes. When confronted by the guards, they swore, "If we stole grapes, let us turn into stone!" And as fate would have it, they actually turned into stone, forever remaining next to the vineyard. So magical and intriguing! 😆💬
If you want to experience this story firsthand, don’t miss out this autumn 🚗. September sunshine is the perfect time to visit! Plus, the location is super easy to find:
El Picuezo y la Picueza
📍 Ctra. Arnedo, 23, 26560 Autol, La Rioja, Spain
⏰ Open all day, year-round, so you can visit anytime to take photos and enjoy the view at your own pace!
While in La Rioja, aside from tasting the famous red wine, this high-value photo spot is highly recommended. After snapping some pictures, take a leisurely stroll through the nearby vineyards to soak in the rustic charm and natural beauty of Spain. It’s so relaxing you won’t want to leave! 🍇📸

The main capital of the Banucacian dynasty in Andalusia, it ruled the entire middle Ebro River from the Muslim invasion in 711 until the mid-10th century.
A stunning view of the town of Arnedo and the central Cidacos Valley. Our visit required advance reservations. However, we walked around and reached the viewpoint next to the castle, which was worth the climb for its spectacular views of the city, the town of Arnedo, and the central Cidacos Valley.

Enjoy the serene beauty of willow shadows by the banks of the Ebro River in La Rioja.
Exploring the Spanish Central Plateau ~ La Rioja (Region)
Undoubtedly, the central section of the Ebro River boasts a unique ecosystem, even though this natural environment has been significantly humanized by agriculture. Its location and the paths leading there are worth a visit, offering a circular route that takes you into floodplain thickets. Along the way, you can observe distinctive flora and fauna. Poplars, aspens, willows, and ash trees line the area, forming islands and riverbanks where you can spot cormorants, herons, kingfishers, and, of course, the star of the show: storks. You might also catch sight of mink and otters. In front of the San Miguel College Church lies the Los Sotos Interpretation Center, where you can deepen your understanding of this unique space. Hundreds of storks stop here during the summer.

Exploring Western-style architectural art
A trip through Spain's Central Plateau ~ La Rioja (Region)
Declared a National Monument in 1976, it took over a century to build (16th-17th centuries). The original concept was to resemble a cathedral. The pilasters, friezes, and window moldings on each floor follow Classical rules and are entirely constructed of brick. Access to the facade is via a magnificent staircase that leads up to the Classical façade, which features three entrances and a triumphal arch. Its towers are almost twins, with four main bodies. Inside, you can admire the altarpieces, most notably the main altarpiece with a statue of St. Michael by Gregorio Fernández; the central altarpiece with a statue of Our Lady of the Rosary; the Church of San Ildefonso, with its magnificent statue of "La Dolorosa"; and the Church of San José, with a 13th-century Gothic statue.

Spanish Central Plateau Adventure ~ La Rioja
Alfaro, located in northern Spain's La Rioja region, is washed by the Ebro and Alma rivers. Wander through the city center and explore centuries-old churches and palaces, witnessing the city's ancient splendor. Examples include the ancient monastery and monastic palace (18th-century) and the late 17th-century Baroque masterpiece, the Collegiate Church of San Miguel. Also worth a visit are the archaeological site of the San Martín era and the Palacio della Roma, a Roman water system listed as a cultural heritage site.
Alfaro is also home to a spectacular stork colony, the largest nesting colony on a single building in the world. Over 400 storks have chosen the Collegiate Church of San Miguel for their nest. Watching so many storks soar through the air is an unforgettable spectacle.
If you enjoy exploring, be sure to explore the Sotos del Ebro Nature Reserve or hike the hills of Monte del Jerga. Additionally, during the Fiesta de San Roque in mid-August, the town comes alive with joy and music for several days, with parades of giants and big heads, bullfights, cultural events, and food competitions.

A stroll through Haro Train Station and its cultural charm.
Haro Train Station is located in the town of the same name, specifically in the Las Bodegas neighborhood of La Rioja province. Long-distance and medium-distance trains operated by Renfe pass through here, with major destinations including Miranda de Ebro (17 minutes), Logroño (40 minutes), Barcelona (4 hours 58 minutes), Zaragoza (2 hours 39 minutes), Bilbao (1 hour 54 minutes), and Valladolid (24 minutes).
Haro is 42 kilometers from Logroño. Notable attractions include the medieval historic center, Santa Bárbara Gate, El Rollo Winery, La Paz Square, the Town Hall, and the Church of Santa María de la Vega. This town is also home to some of the oldest wineries in the La Rioja wine region, so we recommend visiting the Wine Museum at the Wine Station.

Autumn Stroll in the Fields of La Rioja
A Walking Adventure in Spain's Central Plateau ~ La Rioja (Region)
Walking along the Oja River is a delightful experience. It's a wonderful place where you can walk down to the riverbank, and if the water flow isn't too strong, you can even cross the river. If you visit Ezcaray, a trip to this area is highly recommended. One entire side is equipped with battery charging stations and shaded parking spots, and it's very close to a free motorhome area. There are plenty of shaded areas, benches, picnic tables, and two covered barbecue zones.

Strolling Along the Riverside Through a Millennial Town
A Walking Adventure in Spain's Central Plateau ~ La Rioja (Region)
This bridge is a narrow pedestrian pathway connecting the two banks of the Najerilla River, located just a few meters from the main San Juan de Ortega Bridge. In addition to the breathtaking scenery, crystal-clear waters, and beautiful cityscape, the views here are stunning, and the natural environment is excellent, though other places might be even better. At the starting point of the bridge, there are beautiful murals that lead us into the historical center of Nájera.

A fantastic travel destination that can only be visited with a guide on weekends.
Exploring the Spanish Central Plateau ~ La Rioja (Region)
Tickets must be purchased in advance either by calling or visiting the Najera Tourist Office. The site consists of 7 caves, open to the public only on weekend mornings, with tours divided into two time slots (10:00 AM and 12:00 PM) conducted by guides from the tourism bureau. It is highly recommended to book a few days in advance, as reservations are essentially mandatory to ensure availability. Tickets cost €6, and visitors are provided with a map, hairnet, and protective helmet. Learning about Najera's history and the reasons behind the location of these caves is truly fascinating.

The monastery of Nuestra Señora de la Peña Sacra in Manzanares el Real is built on a massive granite rock and dates back to the 15th century. From this spot, you can also enjoy a beautiful view of parts of La Pedriza, making it one of the best vantage points.

Spanish Central Plateau Hike ~ Cuenca (Region)
The remains of the city walls of Belmonte are quite interesting. It's called Puerta de Chinchilla because it faces the city of Chinchilla de Montearagón. Two side towers of the gate remain, and above it you can see what appear to be the remains of an 18th-century monastery. If you walk towards the castle, it's well worth a look and easy to find.

Bistro Mr. Griego – A Taste of Greece in Logroño 🇬🇷🍽️
While tapas are the go-to in Logroño, I stumbled upon Mr. Griego, a fantastic Greek bistro! 🏛️ They serve delicious meze, authentic gyros, and classic tiropitas & spanakopitas 🥙🧀🥬. The best part? You can enjoy your meal on a beautiful terrace in one of the best park in the city! 🚢✨ Service was phenomenal, the waitress was tremendously nice to us😁
The prices are very reasonable, and it's a great option if you’re looking for something different in Logroño. Highly recommended! 💙

Villoslada, La Rioja: Walking Among the Forests 🍃⛪
I visited Villoslada in La Rioja a while ago, and it was a peaceful escape into nature. The village itself is charming, and what stands out the most is the beautiful Lomos de Oro hermitage, located just outside the town. It’s a serene spot, perfect for some reflection or quiet time.🇪🇦
Beyond the hermitage, the surrounding forest offers a stunning route for a walk, with lush greenery and fresh air that makes it an ideal place to disconnect. The village might not be widely known, but it’s definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re looking to experience the tranquil beauty of rural La Rioja.🌲🏕️

Great place to hang out
#fallishere
Church Iglesia de la Santisima is the “anchor” of the Plaza and dates from 1600 and definitely looks like it.The plaza facing the historic church is a very popular place. Street food hawkers and performers and lots of locals like to hang out here.
This part of Cartegena Getsemani was where the lower class people used to live but now it has become popular with lots of visitors and tourists. The plaza is great for people watching, street performers and food. Went here several time and just took in the experience. The crowd changes constantly as people wander by. Never a dull moment.

Macau trip
Macau is a great place to travel! Managed to snag to great hotel deal from Trip.com to stay in Parisian Hotel. The hotel was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed my stay there and the casino was just downstairs. I went to St Paul ruins, it was sunny and hot day, but it was a landmark that I could not miss. Then there’s a lot of local good food around those places and I’ve tried a lot of good food.#Macau

Concéntrico International Design and Architecture Festival in Logroño, Spain
Logroño, Spain
Since the creation of the International Design and Architecture Festival Concéntrico in 2015, our goal is to create an international project,
so that the urban observation is not limited to a specific point of view,
but to extract understanding from multiple cultures,
which allows us to collaborate with professionals from different places.
In addition to the architectural projects he invited and exhibited,
three projects are selected through international open selection every year, and
480 projects were applied for this year.
Javier laughed and said that it was a very manual process to find the trigger points in the city with these teams and for the plans to gradually take shape. It was like piecing together a very complex puzzle. For most of the year, all the plans seemed to be floating separately, until we gradually found the axis that belonged to this session and integrated them.
