We ditched Lake Toyako for Lake Shikotsu and it was one of the best places I’ve been during winter. A trip to Lake Shikotsu in winter is an unforgettable experience. The landscape, covered in a blanket of snow, is transformed into a peaceful wonderland. The air is crisp and clean, and the silence of the snow-laden forests is a profound contrast to the noise of daily life. The highlight of any winter trip here is the Shikotsuko Hyoto Matsuri, the Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival. This remarkable event is a testament to the creative power of nature. The festival grounds are a surreal landscape of luminous ice sculptures, each one a unique work of art crafted from the lake's pure, crystal-clear water. By day, the sculptures shimmer with a serene blue glow. At night, they are illuminated with a kaleidoscope of colors, turning the festival grounds into a magical, unforgettable spectacle. We did marshmallows barbecue which my family and I enjoyed so much . We grabbed a cup of coffee in the cute little cafe on our way back to our onsen hotel which the hotel is definitely one of the highlights of this trip.

Located in Shikotsu-Toya National Park in Hokkaido, this time we chose the less touristy Shikotsu Lake and stayed for a night at "Kyukamura Shikotsuko." The hotel is situated on a highland next to the Shikotsuko Onsen Street, away from the hustle and bustle, nestled in a tranquil forest. The hotel restaurant features large windows and telescopes for birdwatching, making it a place full of natural charm. Although Kyukamura is a chain hotel, the service quality is not compromised. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We opted for a twin room with two meals included. The room is not very spacious and has a toilet, but for bathing, you need to use the public bath. Staying on a weekday during the off-season, the cost for two people was 7,500 TWD, which is quite reasonable.

This hotel is located in the domestic terminal of New Chitose Airport, ideal for those catching early or late-night flights. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the airport onsen is free to use. I had grilled cheese pork bowl! The pork was rich and juicy. It was full of volume and filled me up! It was grilled, so it had a nice aroma, and cheese lovers couldn't resist it. If I go to Hokkaido again, I'd like to finish here. 2️⃣Jazzy Brown's "Ushi no Tsuno" ¥650 Made with carefully selected ingredients from Tokachi! The soft serve ice cream made with Jersey cow milk, which has a rich flavor and high nutritional value, is exquisite. Hotel directly connected to the international terminal of New Chitose Airport "Portom International Hokkaido" I had never been to New Chitose Airport, but I had heard that it was an enjoyable airport, so I wanted to go there once. I found a nice hotel directly connected to the airport and booked it on "Trip.com" and went there❣️ It opened in 2020, so it's still a new hotel. It's about a 10-minute walk from the domestic terminal, but since it's inside the terminal, it's not cold, and you can enjoy walking while looking at various stores. From the moment you step into the hotel entrance, you can feel the elegant and extraordinary atmosphere...✨ I can't believe there's a hotel with such an atmosphere in Hokkaido! The clientele is mostly foreigners returning from skiing... It's an international terminal, so it's only natural😅 The room was a junior suite💕 Actually, I booked my flight and hotel the day before I went, so only the junior suite was available! 😂 That's how popular the hotel is. But I was lucky to be able to book it cheaply on Trip.com! The hotel staff's attitude didn't change just because it was cheap, and they were always polite😊 The spacious 63㎡ room was comfortable. Not to mention the amenities, there was plenty of room wear, one-piece loungewear, and bathrobes! The best thing about this hotel is the view from the room!
