Catanduanes - The Happy Island
Embrace the wild beauty of Catanduanes: journey through “the Land of the Howling Winds” 🌬️🏞️. Discover secret waterfalls, dramatic cliffs, serene beaches, and centuries-old heritage along this Bato-Baras adventure!
Begin at Maribina Falls (J72C+H6H, Bato), an easy-access spot just 20 minutes from Virac. Cool off in the natural pool—early morning is best for solitude and softer light for waterfall shots. Bring sandals with grip, as rocks get slippery!
Head to Sakahon Beach for raw island vibes—fine sand, swaying palms, and tranquil blue waters. Spend time swimming, picnicking, or strolling the long shoreline. The rustic beachscape is perfect for wide angle “castaway” snaps.
Swing by Bato Church on Salvacion Street, a 1800s stone landmark with unique architecture. Step inside for a quiet moment; don’t miss photos capturing the heritage facade in the afternoon sun. Respect dress codes and local customs here.
Cap off at Binurong Point (MC97+GRC, Baras), where rolling hills meet raging Pacific waves. The trek (20–30 mins each way) can be slippery—wear proper shoes and bring water. Arrive before sunrise or late afternoon for golden hour pics over the cliffs, wind tousled hair, and beautiful cloud formations. ⚠️ Weather changes fast, so keep an eye on clouds and be cautious on exposed paths.
Don’t forget: Catanduanes is raw and breezy—bring light layers, waterproof gear, cash for local snacks, and always check weather before hikes.

Binurong Point Catanduanes
Ready to level up your island vibes? 🌴 My adventure in Baras took me straight to Binurong Point—a dreamscape serving major Filipino New Zealand energy, with unreal rolling cliffs and wild Pacific views. 🏞️ Seriously, this place is an absolute bucket list essential if you’re all about nature, insane panoramas, and that fresh air glow-up!
Where to Go:
Binurong Point – MC97+GRC, Baras, Catanduanes, Philippines
Open 24/7! Sunrise or early mornings? *Chef’s kiss.* Beat the crowds, catch that golden hour glow, and get jaw-dropping nderlust shots. The trek from the jump-off takes 30–45 minutes, but don’t even think about skipping it—the views are majorly 🤯.
Trekking 411:
Not a mega-challenge, but trust, sturdy shoes are your BFF. Hydrate with water (seriously, don’t skimp), and local guides aren’t just helpful—they’ll hook you up with epic photo spots and spill the best local legends. Booking a guide supports the community, so it’s total good vibes! Just a heads up: rain turns the trail muddy, so ditch those flip-flops for actual shoes.
Getting Around:
Baras = full-on small-town feels, and local tricycles make getting to the jump-off super easy. If you’re rolling in from Virac, plan about 45 minutes by car or motorcycle. Hack: rent wheels for a day and chase those views at your own pace for max chill.
Snack Attack:
Post-hike munchies are real! Swing by Baras town for sinapot (those crispy fried saba bananas are sooo good!) or chill with fresh buko juice. Local food is next-level tasty.
Must-Know Tips:
Bring cash—cards are a no-go. The weather does what it wants, so sunscreen and a hat are basically your uniform. For locals, no visa needed. Love IG stories? The signal on the cliffs is hit-or-miss, so save those trip.com essentials offline for smooth exploring.
Binurong Point is a Filipino paradise serving endless scenic flexes and total happy island vibes. Book those adventures 👉 trip.com and let Baras blow your mind!

Happy Island Catanduanes Philippines
I’ve been solo traveling the Philippines for quite a while now. I name myself the #boywhowanders #BryanWanders
I may have found the best province to visit in the Bicol region. Aside from its happy & accommodating people, breathtaking scenaries I’m proudly to share that I may have found the BEST Sinigang in the Philippines (so far).
I stayed in Puraran Beach where you can surf and eat lots of food. If you’re looking for an isolated place to stay, Puraran Beach is the perfect place. At night there are no lights, only the stars, moonlight, fireflies, waves and the winds.
People are so nice as well, and they are comforting to talk to. I’ve never been so relaxed and felt at peace visiting a beach place in the Philippines.
This underrated province is just an amazing place. Best months to go especially in Binurong Point is from December to February waves can go up to 100ft. Reason why I would come back go have a photo with the waves.
Flights may be expensive as there is only 1 flight a day, you may take a bus but it would take you almost a day.
There are alot of places to visit and do in Catanduanes. For a 5 days trip I only spent like ₱15,000. And again, I have to mention the Sinigang again. Imagine eating a hot sinigang on an isolated beach with the sun is up as you go enjoy living your life.
Please visit Catanduanes!! #catanduanes #philippines #solotravel

Homecoming to my beautiful island paradise, Catanduanes is and will always be the most delightful time that I always look forward to. Nothing beats the enchanting beauty of the place, the wind that howls with melody and rythmn of happiness, the landscape that will just take all of your stresses and worries out of your system to pave way for the recharged you. Most of all, the memories of yesteryears spent on childhood with nothing but freedom and happiness, laughter and the carefree living....ahhhhh...my island, my home, my life.
