Melbourne's Cityscape
Melbourne is a city that took my breath away with its diverse and striking architecture. From modern skyscrapers to Victorian-era buildings, this Australian gem has it all for architecture lovers like myself.
As I strolled along the Yarra River, I was greeted by the sight of Federation Square's iconic modern design. With its sloping planes and mix of zinc, glass and sandstone, this public square shows Melbourne's embrace of contemporary architecture. Nearby Flinders Street Station, in contrast, is a stunning remnant of the city's colonial past. The prominent domed building built in 1910 remains a treasured landmark.
Venturing into the Central Business District, I craned my neck upwards to admire the towering skyscrapers. Our guide highlighted the unusual triangle-shaped Tower Melbourne, before pointing out the striking blue glass exterior of the Eureka Tower. At almost 300 meters high, this skyscraper offers incredible views from its observation deck.
Just outside the city center in inner suburbs like Fitzroy, Carlton and St Kilda, blocks of attached Victorian terraces with wrought iron lacework delighted me with their old-world charm. And the World Heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building, constructed in 1880 for the Melbourne International Exhibition, remains an outstanding symbol of the city's 19th century pride and confidence.
With its respect for the old and embrace of the new, Melbourne has curated an architectural experience like no other for visitors. The diversity of building styles here, from modern wonders to historic icons, tells the story of an innovative city confidently looking to the future without forgetting its past. I was thoroughly impressed.

The best italian restaurant in melbourne?! 🤭
#melbournetrip Carlton Wine Room
📍172-174 Faraday St, Carlton VIC 3053, Australia
My friend who lives in Melbourne took us to this amazing Italian restaurant. It's definitely on the expensive side but if you're visiting with more friends it's a great way to try a few items off their menu & that's exactly what we did! I really enjoyed the experience as the food was very delicate & fresh.
We ordered about 7 starters & 3 Mains with a bottle of red wine for just under $300 AUD! Honestly, for the amount of food we ordered + the quality I would consider this pretty affordable compared to similar places in Singapore. You can view their menu here , Don't forget to call & make a reservation!

Kids friendly Melbourne Museum
Dinos enthusiasts will surely love the museum’s dinosaur exhibits. The museum has kiddos play areas peppered about the museum to keep active kids occupied. If one is hungry, there is a cafe located within the building to satiate hungry pangs. It also houses other themed exhibits such as Victoria’s heritage, Bug’s Alive, Forrest Museum, etc, which are equally intriguing and info packed. Overall Melbourne Museum’s exhibits are well curated and educational with themes that capture both young and old. Be prepared to spend at least 3 hours or more especially if you are the kind that enjoy visiting museums.

🇦🇺Melbourne attractions guide|||———❗️✅Recommended
📍Port Melbourne Beach: The sunset is amazing. You have to be there to understand the vastness of the world.
📍State Library Victoria: The architecture is stunning. The symmetry is very satisfying, but there are a lot of tourists.
📍Royal Arcade: You will pass by here when shopping. It has a retro vibe.
📍St Paul's Cathedral: Not as big as the cathedral in Sydney, but very beautiful! The color scheme is unique.
———😌Not bad, worth a visit if you have time
🔸Fitzroy Gardens: Quite big, but it's just a big lawn.
🔸University of Melbourne: Old and peaceful. If you don't have a friend to show you around, you can only take photos of the old buildings.
🔸Melbourne Central: A busy shopping mall.
🔸Flinders Street Railway Station: More functional than beautiful. Good for Jay Chou fans to take photos.
🔸St Patrick's Cathedral: There was an event when I visited, so I couldn't go inside. The photos look magnificent! The architecture is beautiful but hard to photograph.
🔸Melbourne Museum & Carlton Gardens: The museum is small, and the exhibits are new and scattered. It lacks a sense of history and is more like an encyclopedia for kids.
———🤷♀️Not worth visiting
▪️Graffiti walls: I don't understand why people take photos here. It looks like a dump. 🇦🇺There are many places with interesting graffiti.
▪️Queen Victoria Market: A big market with nothing to see. There are a few cafes nearby. You can buy souvenirs here.
▪️Federation Square: Not really an attraction, just a nice outdoor mall.
▪️Melbourne Town Hall: Not worth visiting as an attraction.

Really nice place to visit, free tickets for students(no matter which country you are from and where your school is) which is really worth it. Surely a good place for children and family bonding. Also provide free lockers for us to put our things which is absolutely convenient. Would come again the next time I visit Melbourne with my family and friends in the future.

Consistently good
I made a stop here after browsing through the menu. It's walkable distance from queen victoria market. And it was time for afternoon coffee. The prices seemed decent. There's a nice atmosphere with the coffee aroma everywhere. To think of it, they are very consistent.
Now I have had a couple of brunch visits there with friends and on my own. The coffee continues to be spot on. The barista is extremely efficient and smooth with his work. The place fills up quickly. Within a few minutes of my coming there, I guess it just be peak hours. There was a long queue for coffee. A good sign, nevertheless.

A small prison museum best enjoyed with a tour. The place may be small but it’s rich in history, if I had not joined any of their tours, I don’t think I’d appreciate or learn much of its history from just reading the signs in the museum. Plus, the tours were only an additional $5 each and you get way way more out of the experience.
The escape artist tour has the guide bringing us around the perimeter of the prison, explaining each area and its history, like how some of the old prison buildings are now part of RMIT uni used for criminology and forensic science classes. Very cool. Everything tied in together so nicely with the exhibits inside. Highly recommend.

This is an enormous museum featuring exhibits on the natural sciences and history of Melbourne. They also offer special exhibitions like the current Titanic exhibition (not included in general admission). We had a very limited time, so focused on the dinosaurs and the history of Melbourne but there is much more to see and hands on activities for the littles. I would recommend allocating the whole day to take it all in. Advance tickets are the way to go, same day ticket lines are long. There’s a parking garage but public transit is more affordable. Highly recommend planning your visit in advance to make the most of your visit and ensure you’re able to get into any special exhibits.
