Exploring Bratislava by the Danube
#centraleurope
My visit to Bratislava was a perfect blend of history, culture, and relaxed riverside charm. Arriving by train, I immediately felt the slower pace of Slovakia's capital, yet it was full of character. I started my walk through the old town, with its narrow cobbled streets, pastel-colored buildings, and impressive architecture like St. Martin’s Cathedral and the Old Town Hall.
One of the highlights was climbing up to Bratislava Castle, which offered panoramic views over the city and the Danube River. I also made sure to see the quirky Čumil statue and enjoy a traditional Slovak meal in one of the cozy restaurants.
Later, I strolled along the promenade by the Danube, watching boats pass under the UFO Bridge, whose observation deck I also visited for a stunning sunset view. Bratislava may be small compared to other European capitals, but it left a big impression with its charm, history, and walkability.
