Public transportation from Ankara to the small UNESCO World Heritage Site Hattusa
A very niche world cultural heritage site, Hattuşaş, the capital of the Hittite Kingdom, is located in the mountains 200 kilometers east of Ankara, the capital of Turkey. The huge ancient city is scattered in Bogazkale, Sungurlu, Anatolian Plateau.
There is no direct public transportation, which gives local black cars and taxis a lot of monopoly space.
It is most convenient to drive by yourself, or rent a car or charter a car. In addition, public transportation is also OK, which takes a little effort.
🚌 Departing from Ankara:
1. Buy a ticket to Sungurlu on the second floor of Ankara Bus Station (you can get there by bus) 40-44, and then go to the platform to wait for the bus. The bus may change the platform temporarily, and the driver will come to call everyone. I also watch it and ask if there is no bus when it is almost time.
It costs 290 lira to come back, with snacks and drinks. It costs 250 when I went there, only drinks. So the price is different, and the time and company are different.
2. It is said that you can take a minibus to Bogazkale (31 kilometers) when you arrive at the station, but it is unreliable. I didn't know how to get a taxi, so I asked at the station. There were taxis at the door, but we couldn't communicate because they didn't speak English.
Finally, we negotiated a price and took a taxi to the heritage site, but we were taken to a small place. Then the driver persuaded us to charter a car for sightseeing. How big is the big attraction? Then we chartered it, including sending back to the station.
Actually, you can walk slowly, but you will be tired from climbing the hill. If you are afraid of being tired, you can charter a car.
🤴🏻 When we arrived at the destination, there was no one except the one who collected the entrance fee (70 lira). There were few tourists. We saw a few people intermittently inside.
The Hittites settled here in 2000 BC. It was once one of the four major empires in the Middle East at that time.
The carvings, temples, cities, lion gates, sphinx gates, and king gates from more than 3,000 years ago are still there. A huge green jade stone in the Great Temple is shiny and shiny, which is the most conspicuous and special.

I met two groups of American old men 👨🏻🦳 and old ladies 🧓. Some of them couldn't walk well, while others were still playing with sticks. They were great and I need to learn from them.
❗Songulu is not a place worth staying in. You can just go back to Ankara for a day trip. Leave as early as possible.
❗It is said that there is also Boǎazkale Museum, which contains artifacts unearthed from Hattusa. I forgot to go there.
❗All transportation and locations can be checked on Google Maps.
