A historic town in the Bazaar Mountains
Andalucia Tour ~ Granada (Region)
This historic city borders the Bazaar Mountains Nature Reserve. The old Moorish part of town, consisting of the "Medina", the "Alcazaba" and the Arab quarter, has narrow streets but is mostly intact. The "Alcazaba" (castle) is located in the historic center. Remains of parts of the defensive walls and various towers can still be seen. Also worth mentioning is the Mudejar-style Santiago Cathedral and the former university church, Nuestra Señora Santa María de la Encarnación, built on the site of a former mosque. Barca also has important archaeological and historical sites, such as the remains of the Iberian Roman city of Basti, the town’s two cemeteries and its Moorish baths
