📍 If you ever find yourself in the charming village of Navenby, or indeed a trip in popular Lincoln, a visit to Mrs. Smith’s Cottage is a must. Just 30 minutes outside of the city, this small, lovely museum is dedicated to the life of Mrs. Smith, a beloved local who lived to the age of 102 and touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. 🕰️ The cottage is full of history, offering a personal glimpse into her incredible life. From her humble beginnings to becoming a respected figure in the village, it’s a testament to her kindness, longevity, and deep connection to her community. The exhibits bring her story to life through photographs, memorabilia such as the classic coal fired oven, and fascinating anecdotes that make you feel as though you’ve met her yourself. 🪑 Stepping in you'll find original furniture that's been preserved right since her passing in 1995, including traditional wooden tables and handmade wooden furnishings (Picture 2). Even the original chairs she sat in watching the world go by from afar have been faithfully preserved (Picture 3). 🗞️ Fine details like original newspapers and photography live to touch the lives of modern day visitors (Picture 4). 🏠 Upon inspecting the dainty building you can see why it's so unique (Picture 5). Visitor guides will tell you that the local council condemned the building to demolition in the 1950s but Mrs Smith stood her ground and refused to budge, allowing the treasured 1800s house to live on. ❤️ What’s so special about Mrs. Smith’s Cottage is the way it captures the spirit of a bygone era, all while celebrating the warmth of a remarkable woman.
