The famous Basilica Notre Dame de la Garde 🇫🇷
#francetrip
Visiting the Basilica Notre-Dame de la Garde in Marseille was absolutely breathtaking! 🏰⛪ Perched high on a hill, this iconic basilica offers the most stunning panoramic views of the entire city and the sparkling Mediterranean Sea. The climb up was a bit steep, but trust me, it’s worth every step! You can either hike up or take the local bus, but I chose to walk and enjoy the sights along the way. Once at the top, I was completely blown away by the view. 🌊🌅
The basilica itself is a masterpiece. The exterior features a beautiful golden statue of the Virgin Mary, while the interior is just as impressive with its intricate mosaics, marble columns, and nautical-themed decorations that reflect Marseille’s maritime history. The entrance is free, which is great if you're traveling on a budget. 🖼️✨ I spent a good amount of time inside, taking in the peaceful atmosphere and lighting a candle.
Outside, there’s a large terrace that’s perfect for taking photos or just sitting and enjoying the view. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Château d'If and the Frioul Islands. Afterward, I wandered back down through the narrow streets of the old town, stopping for a delicious gelato on the way. 🍦If you're ever in Marseille, a visit to Notre-Dame de la Garde is an absolute must! #trip #NotreDameDeLaGarde #MarseilleViews #FrenchArchitecture #IconicLandmarks #MediterraneanMagic
