The historic center of Calatayud
Pyrenees adventure in Spain ~ Zaragoza (region)
The central square of Calatayud, originating from the Middle Ages, has witnessed all the activities of the city, including markets, festivals, entertainment, cultural, and social events.
Most of its structures feature arcades and preserve some typical architectural elements known as continuous balconies.
Although somewhat neglected nowadays, it still retains certain features such as sundials painted on exterior walls, ceramic plaques, curved balconies, and vegetable-selling sculptures, reminiscent of its past as a marketplace.

A town famous for its monastery
Spanish Pyrenees Hike ~ Zaragoza (Region)
Nuévalos sits on the banks of the Piedra river, at the end of the La Tranquera reservoir. The limestone cliffs cut by the Piedra River and the vegetation that grows along its banks make this a great spot to see a large number of raptors and rock-dwelling birds. Likewise, in the La Tranquera reservoir and its extensive reed beds, many herons, cormorants and ducks can be seen, depending on the time of year. The reservoir has been developed into a venue for water sports. There is excellent fishing in the reservoir and in parts of the Piedra River.
At the same time, the Monastery of Piedra is one of the most important tourist centers in Aragon. This is a former Cistercian monastery turned hotel with a beautiful park featuring water, rocks and vegetation.

Historical monuments, waterfalls and forests, a city of Spanish cultural heritage
Historical monuments, waterfalls and forests, this city of Spanish cultural heritage is only one hour away from Zaragoza by train!
Calatayud, a small town carved by time, lies quietly among the valleys of Aragon, witnessing the changes of history and the integration of cultures.
This is the heart of Spanish Mudéjar art - the intersection of Islamic architectural techniques and Christian aesthetics, giving birth to unique brick carvings, towers and arches. The city’s landmarks such as the Church of Santa María (Colegiata de Santa María) and the Church and Tower of San Pedro (La iglesia y torre de San Pedro de los Francos) are all outstanding representatives of this architectural style. For this reason, the buildings here have been listed as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
Not far from the city lies the picturesque stone monastery (Monasterio de Piedra). The monastery ruins and the beautiful scenery of waterfalls and forests are intertwined, creating a secret place where nature and humanity blend perfectly.
