I had shaved ice at COCO'S Agui branch. COCO'S specializes in fluffy pure ice, and offers seven varieties of shaved ice that rival those at specialty shops. They also have mini sizes that are perfect for after a meal. This time, I ordered the "Fluffy Pure Ice Shaved Ice Polar Bear" and the "Fluffy Pure Ice Shaved Ice Strawberry." The "Fluffy Pure Ice Shaved Ice Polar Bear" is the shaved ice version of Kagoshima Prefecture's famous ice cream, "Shirokuma." It was a luxurious dish made with fruits such as kiwi, banana, pink grapefruit, and apple. I liked that it also came with a separate milk syrup. The "Fluffy Pure Ice Shaved Ice Strawberry" is a classic shaved ice flavor. It is topped with fluffy whipped cream, white chocolate flakes, and frozen strawberries. Toun-in Temple is a Soto Zen temple located in Agui-cho, Chita-gun, Aichi Prefecture. Its mountain name is Mount Ryukei. It is the 15th temple of the Chita Shikoku Pilgrimage and the 6th temple of the Owari Thirty-three Kannon Pilgrimage. It is also the family temple of Odai-no-kata, the birth mother of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Near the temple there is a little-known cafe called Tenkirin no Hashira that serves delicious curry, so you can stop by there on your way back from eating curry, and then buy some delicious Japanese sweets at the nearby Matsukawaya Yoshinaga before heading home. You can easily spend 3 hours just on that course. "Kushoji Doun-in" is also designated as the 15th sacred site of Chita Shin-Shikoku and the 6th sacred site of the 33 Owari Kannon Bodhisattvas. It is also the place of worship for Odai, who gave birth to Tokugawa Ieyasu, after her death. If you are tracing the history of the Tokugawa family, you must visit this place. This is a historic temple that history lovers will love. At the main gate of the temple, there is a stone monument that indicates that it is a sacred site. Since Doun-in is built on a hill, if you look back after climbing the stairs in front of the main gate, you can see a great view of the quiet townscape of Agui. To the left of the main gate, The Kannon Bodhisattva, which prays for safe travels, stands facing the main hall. Put your offering there, put your hands together, and go left to the Chozuya (purification fountain). If you purify your hands at the Chozuya and head right towards the main hall, you will see a glass-walled area on your left where you will find a statue of Odai, the mother of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Facing backwards, on the left side of the main gate, there is a shrine office where you can receive a goshuin (red seal). You can receive one by hand, but there are also goshuin stamps that you can stamp freely after worship, so I received one there to commemorate my visit. Heisenji Temple in Agui Town is the 16th temple of the Chita Shikoku Pilgrimage and is a Tendai sect temple on Mount Houou. In 830, Emperor Junna had a dream in which a phoenix descended on Chita County in Owari. Jikaku Daishi was asked to go and see the dream, and named the mountain Mount Houou after the dream. It is an ancient temple that is over 1,000 years old. According to an old tale handed down in this area, when an evil spirit was ravaging the area and tormenting the people, the extremely brave Eihimaru defeated the evil spirit, buried it deep underground, and planted a holly tree to ward off evil so that it would not come out again. When Daishi was sleeping outdoors under that holly tree, he had a dream in which he saw a boy with horns suffering in the earth. The next morning, Daishi carved a Buddha statue out of the fallen holly tree and enshrined it, which is said to be the origin of Heisenji Temple. The main statues, the standing statues of Acala and Bishamonten, are designated cultural properties by Aichi Prefecture. At Heisenji Temple, you can pray for protection from evil, safe driving, and good health, and if you make a reservation, you can also have your car purified. #AutumnTrip This is the Heisei Observatory in Nisshin City, Aichi Prefecture. It's a slightly unusual observation deck located on top of a water tank. I went there during the day, but the night view is beautiful, so I also recommend going at night. The view is great and you can see the west side of Nisshin City.
