The Majestic Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Embodying the Spirit of Oman
Located in Muscat, Oman, the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is a prominent architectural landmark and a masterpiece of Islamic art!
Completed in 2001, this grand mosque can accommodate over 20,000 worshippers and is renowned for its massive prayer hall, a 50-meter-high main dome, an opulent chandelier, and the world's second-largest handmade Persian carpet. The exterior is crafted from pristine white sandstone, while the interior showcases marble, stained glass, Arabic calligraphy, and mosaics, epitomizing Oman's aesthetic excellence.
The enormous carpet in the main hall was handmade with 12 million knots over four years, and the colossal chandelier, standing 14 meters tall, is adorned with approximately 600,000 Swarovski crystals.
Visitors can explore the interior for free from 8 AM to 11 AM (except Fridays), provided they adhere to the dress code: long sleeves and trousers for men, and long sleeves, trousers, and a scarf or abaya for women.
