Eliseo Palace Tropea
"Beautiful property in the center of Tropea, a cozy and clean room with a spacious bathroom and adequate linen changes. A generous international buffet breakfast is served in a welcoming atmosphere, with helpful and always smiling staff. A warm welcome at reception is evident in the professionalism of the staff. Special thanks to Giulia for her helpfulness during our stay, providing us with recommendations for places to visit, excursions, and delicious food."
Hotel Villa Paola
"Villa Paola surpassed our expectations. The hospitality was 5 star all the way - Extremely warm and friendly but at the same time, discreet. The personal touches were so thoughtful and appreciated. Personal notes in our room with home made treats, a beautiful reusable bag. We could see so much love and care in every aspect of the hotel. The way our room was cleaned, how the stunning gardens are kept so beautifully, the delicious food and the sincere will for guests to have the best experience at the hotel. Everything is home made and home grown produce from the gardens. There are no single use plastics on site. The outside patio overlooks the bay and marina and the deepest blue ocean. The pool has the same gorgeous outlook and the scent of jasmine fills the air outside. Our highlights: dinner in the restaurant, the breakfast omlette with juicy fresh Cherry tomato, fresh orange juice. The Villa Paola spritz and the Calabrian olives at apperitivo and : the staff. All of them. We felt so welcome and can’t wait to visit again. Elegant, charming, luxurious and a delight to stay. Thank you Francesco x 2, Anna, Maria and everyone we didn’t personally meet by name but gave us a smile and looked after us on our visit. "
Donna Rosa Accommodation
"The best location and best host ever! Francesco is a gem and the most valuable tip-giver. He sent us to the best restaurants in Tropea and served us the best typical Italian breakfast !!!! Excellent location, top cleanliness and amazing value for money!!!!"
Tenuta Tropeano
"We LOVED this intimate boutique hotel. The rooms were modern and spacious, and the location, just a few minutes from Tropea (and the associated chaos of people and cars), was perfect. We loved the views overlooking the ocean and city, and the incredibly vibrant sunsets over Mt. Stromboli each evening. The staff was so hospitable - especially Angelo, the owner. He went out of his way to make reservations for us and recommendations - and called in favors when beach clubs were booked to get us chairs, etc. The hotel had a great pool, and the breakfast was some of the best food we had in Italy - highlights were the fresh squeezed juice, prickly pear cactus fruit and the house-cured fried capocollo, which was insanely good. My fiancé is celiac and they even had fresh gluten free bread for us every morning and were very good about food safety. If you're lucky, Ginger, the owner's horse, may come greet you from the field below the breakfast terrace while slyly begging for croissants (we saw her eat three!). Parking is included and convenient, and there are two restaurants within a three minute walk for dinner. Could not recommend this little gem more!"
Hotel Tropis
"We stayed in a room with a sea view, a gorgeous view. It's a bit of a walk to the beach, but acceptable. The only thing is that there was no free water in the room. The room was clean. The hotel staff was friendly. The breakfast was filling."
Sui Generis
"The room is large and the hotel has an underground parking lot. From the balcony you can see the sea in the distance. The staff is very warm and friendly. The facilities are perfect. The breakfast is not bad. Have a great day here."
Hotel Virgilio
"Was here with an organised trip for families. I would never have picked this hotel for families, it’s extremely noisy and allows pets; during the night you have pets barking, drunk visitors and the incessant pings of the elevator to keep you awake. If for whatever reason none of these happen, there’s always a toilet ready to flush with a noise as if a jet takes off nearby. You can hear this across several rooms. Then you have the beds: the owner (who after being asked for improvements denied being the owner on second thought) states these are orthopaedic. With that he means probably that you will need an orthopaedic session after having slept on it. They are so hard even ascetics would say: This is too much, I would rather lie on the concrete floor. Next are the room decoration and light: light as cold as a surgery room and decorations are non-existent. Finally the amenities like a fridge or WiFi: they just aren’t there. Simply no fridge despite it being advertised. WiFi is very slow. The breakfast is passable as long as you stay away from the coffee. Two stars because climate control worked more or less."
Hotel Villa Antica Tropea
"Great location and grand Italian Villa. Our room #20 was at ground floor with private outdoor area. Reasonable standard. Other than a faulty shower rose, the room was reasonable considering its vintage. Trying to communicate ahead of arrival on where to park a car via phone was futile, and the receptionist when we got here just shrugged her shoulders when questioned why no answer, then added no value as to where we should park. We are very disappointed that we were given no help to find a parking area for our 2 day stay. Note unless you are very lucky all the free parking spaces in the area are snapped up by the locals. The paid parking nearby is at horrendous cost. We are 66 Euro out of pocket for open paid unsecured parking for two days. No help from the Hotel. They should provide at a minimum a map of where there are suitable parking, or prearrange with a parking company suitable parking spots for their guests, even if it’s an extra charge. Finally, the continental breakfast we had here is not up to standard of a 4 star hotel. Rather than a raft of cakes perhaps a greater emphasis on providing fresh fruit would be a healthier choice."
