We came away on a short vacation and were recommended this hotel by family. We were not disappointed! The service was great, the spa was wonderful and the beds were super comfy. The variety at continental breakfast was pretty good and the staff were lovely. Definitely recommend them!

Nice hotel good location easy to get to main land city too but also close to all the major activities and beaches

Staff friendly but a little bit more knowledge would have helped! Asked if we could hire a couple of cycles but said they don’t have any asked if they knew where we could hire them and they didn’t know but as soon as we walked down to the main road we found some self renting cycles… also asked where you can smoke and was directed to go through other hotel and out where the 7/11 24/7 shop was and there’s smoking area in courtyard but when we went back to our hotel we found a smoking area on the rooftop not sure why they didn’t tell us this…

We spent a couple of nights at this resort. The rooms were large enough and the bed was very comfortable. It was well appointed with a range of soaps and quality teas and coffees. It is is right next to the lake. The three things that let the hotel down were the fact the room was not made up after the first night despite leaving the request on the door handle. The safe did not work as we hadn't been given a safe key and finally the restaurant is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays for breakfast! What hotel doesn't provide food for its guest 7 days a week? Al's top tips. Ask for a safe key when you get your room keys. Have breakfast at the Artisan Cafe 1149 Tutanekai Street, Rotorua 3010, as you won't get fed there on Mondays and Tuesdays. We also visited Waitomo Glow worm caves and did the Mitai Maori Cultural experience and dinner.

We had our dinner at the in-house restaurant (The Grill). It was fully booked and was really busy. There was only 1 lady looking after the bar and the restaurant. Despite being busy, she delivered an exceptional service to us and even to the other customers. We will definitely come back for the service, though the hotel needs some TLC.

The lake view room is very good, the sparsely populated water is very clear, suitable for emptying. When it rains, the lake is dark, and the sky is blue without filters when the sun is out.

When we booked the cheapest motel we could find for the short stay of two nights, we were not prepared for such an interesting experience. The rooms were scrupulously clean. Top marks for that. Towels changed every day. But oh what a strange place. There are two parts to the motel. We were put in what had once been a very expensive 1950's house converted into motel rooms. Up a very steep staircase, into the room, which has been decorated in what can only be described as someone's idea of art deco come 1950's. We had such fun figuring out what parts of the house had been altered to accommodate our space. The bathroom is very adequate and rather quaint. The toilet stall is housed in what would have been the homes original shower, with all the original pipework covered up by pictures. Access to the bathroom from the bedroom - step onto a mat - check under the mat and start laughing, because the pipework for the original toilet is still there. But hey, it was clean, the rooms large and after all, it's only to sleep in.

We came across this wonderful place by accident booking last minute during our travels in NZ, so lucky! and decided to book an extra night because we loved it so much! Danny and Mable are the loveliest hosts who helped us with our planning activities and spoiled us rotten. The breakfast is absolutely amazing: Mabel makes beautiful creations with fruit and delicious dishes with local products, avocado and flowers from her own garden. Their personal touch makes this B&B an absolute highlight and we definitely recommend to stay if given the chance. Many thanks!!

Highly recommend this camping ground to families with kids and great if you have a well-trained, quiet dog to go along too. Facilities are brilliant. Only improvement would be provision of more shade, but in the meantime, take your hats, sunscreen and umbrellas and enjoy the place 😊

Our stay was fabulous. We had a spa room which was also fantastic even though it was chilly outside. It was well worth it. The rooms were clean, the bed comfortable and it had everything we needed. My husband's only complaint was there were no sky channels available and we needed our own netflix etc. accounts. We did have to fight for parking even though there was parking straight outside the rooms and some people coming with more than one vehicle per room. (Hubby has lung issues so needed close parking), otherwise we thoroughly loved it - thank you.

HHelloI love this hotel.
To be honest, I didn’t expect much when it comes to old and vintage hotel. But when I entered the hotel, I found the hotel is quite special and unique. Yes, it’s old and vintage but it is also well-maintained.
For the room, I like it because it has big windows including bathroom and the sunshine can get through.
For the location, I like it because it is so close to the central bus stop, Eatery Streets and Polynesian Spa. Because I don’t drive so location is very important to me.
Like many other places in NZ, this hotel seems to be short staffed too. But the staff still did the best to serve. They are nice and friendly.
I wish I could stay in the hotels for a few more couples and enjoyed the unique atmosphere there. I would stay again if ever I go to Rotorua.

NNur RuzannaVery clean, has everything you need. Wasn’t able to check in by 630pm, called them in advance to inform and arranged for a self check in. Emily was very kind, explained the steps over the phone, and texted again just as a reminder. Self check in was very easy and convenient. Instructions were attached with the key, documents were neatly placed in the room.
Only downside was it wasn’t very close to the supermarket/shops, probably about 15min walk, but it was raining so took us 20min. Driving would have been better.
Please note there’s no lift, so we had to carry our luggage to the 2nd floor.
Overall, would come back again, it was still a great stay!

Unfortunately, there seems to be bed bugs or dust mites on the floor carpet as I got plenty of bites around my ankle. Went ahead to inform the front desk but I was told that there were absolutely no bed bugs in the hotel. Overall room is ok except for the cleanliness.

CCurious26343054239I stayed in the Sudima Lake Rotorua Hotel for three nights while attending a conference. The Sudima was selected as it was the cheapest of the four listed by the conference organisers. The accommodation and buffet breakfasts were standard and wouldn’t in themselves warrant a review, either positive or negative. What did warrant a review, however, was the check-in experience. This is the reason for the level-two rating. Having stayed at a range of accommodation – from higher end to backpacker - I cannot recall anything like it, either here in New Zealand or overseas. There was one person at the reception desk and only one other guest checking-in before me. That check-in took a seemingly interminable time, but that can happen for whatever reason. My check-in appeared normal, but thereafter the experience ‘went to custard’. Assigned a room on the third floor I duly went with my bag to the room. Arriving there the magnetic door card wouldn’t open the door. I then returned to the reception desk, explained the situation and was provided with a new set of door cards. I then proceeded back to the third floor and, yes, the door cards this time successfully opened the door. However, upon entering the room I was surprised to find evidence that someone else was using the room. Material around the room showed that this person was also a conference attendee. (Interestingly there was a half drunk bottle of whisky on a table, but alas it was a blend and not a single malt so there was no temptation to take a few swigs.) Using the room’s telephone, I called the reception number but there was no response. Anxious that the room’s inhabitant may return I returned once more to the reception desk to be provided with a new room and corresponding door cards. Another ascent to the third floor finally eventuated with valid room occupancy at the Sudima Lake Rotorua Hotel. The time lapse since first entering the hotel stretched to about 40 minutes.

GGuest UserThis was a lovely little spot, good location and easy walking distance to the park and water in the nearby surrounds. Doesn’t cost too much in u era to travel to local attractions and there’s even a free geothermal park within 10-15 mins walk. Hotel was tidy, a bit dated and definitely ‘budget’ but serves its purpose. Take your own chrome cast if you want to stream things in the tv as it doesn’t have this function in-built.

GGuest UserWas one if the cheaper options for our dates, we were pleasantly surprised. It looked and smelt new, had elevators to our floor. Room was small but practical, had fridge and jug. Bed was a double and quite small and for some reason seemed short but we slept OK. Very clean and well kept. Had small full length widow that looked into small atrium of the other rooms. Only negative was when the toilet was flushed, a sewerage smell came up through the drain. Easy parking, bottle store and restaurant on site but didnt use. Situated almost opposite luge. Had a car so location to town was not an issue, however, there were fast food outlets within walking distance that we noticed anyway. Overall, was good for our needs and would stay again.

GGuest UserOur room didn’t lock and was told it couldn’t be sorted until Monday which is really helpful considering that’s the day we were checking-out. On top of that they leave the front gate purposefully unlocked so anyone could come in and out of the hotel adding to our worries of leaving our things in the room. Staff were also very unhelpful and conveniently didn’t know when the public parking right outside the building was free, probably so we’d have to pay for their parking which is a hidden fee they don’t tell you about until you’re there. Every time we walked past reception a different guest was being told the same misinformation about parking so they must know as guests are often asking about it. The room is an absolute hot box and you simply can’t be in there during the day because it’s swelteringly hot with little air coming through even with the windows open. Some positives is that the kitchen facilities were good and the location is in a good spot for walking into town. Very disappointing stay and if we had more of a budget then we would’ve stayed somewhere else.
