"Every staff member we interacted with was polite, friendly, and attentive, and they deserve credit for that. However, there were two minor frustrating drawbacks. We rented a cabin on the water. The cabins are much closer together than they appear in the photos, and parking even a small SUV between them is surprisingly difficult. It’s manageable, but much tighter than we expected. The real concern, however, was the campground’s handling of its 11:00 p.m. Saturday quiet curfew. On our final night, the neighboring cabins turned into what felt like a fraternity party—but with high school kids—instead of the typical family campground evening. Loud hip-hop music, yelling, and groups of teenagers walking around with “beverage” cups continued well past the posted quiet hours. I looked for parents to speak with first, but there were none to be found. After waiting until 11:15 p.m. because everyone in our cabin was still being kept awake, I called security. To their credit, security responded promptly and professionally. The person I spoke with seemed to know the exact cabin group I was referring to, which made me wonder if similar complaints had already been made that evening or previously. When security arrived, at least two of the teenagers scattered and hid between my cabin and the one next door. The noise stopped while security was present, but as soon as they left, the loud music and yelling resumed at full volume. I had to call a second time before the gathering finally dispersed around midnight. If you’re looking for a quiet, family-friendly campground where little ones can sleep and adults can relax in the evening, I would strongly recommend considering other campgrounds in the area. An 11:00 p.m. quiet curfew on a Saturday is perfectly reasonable—but it only works if it’s enforced. Based on what I experienced, the campground did not effectively enforce its posted quiet hours that night, requiring calls from a guest and multiple security visits. What happens on other nights? One final note: I’ve noticed that responses to negative reviews often consist of a generic apology and a promise to do better. I don’t need that. I hope management instead recognizes that allowing a late-night party involving unsupervised kids in a family campground is unacceptable and takes meaningful steps to ensure the posted quiet hours are consistently enforced. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning."

Sun Retreats Westward Shores ★★★
"We just returned from a week at Westward Shores and even though we had a great vacation we were really disappointed with the lack of amenities this season. They no longer offer linen service , trash removal, WiFi, or cable. They took away the hot tubs at the cabins. The outdoor hot tub was still broken and the outdoor pool was closed for a couple of days during our stay. Our cabin was filthy, dog hair everywhere and I had to wash the floors upon arrival. The laundry facilities had multiple broken units. The snack shack was closed and we had planned on ordering dinner there a couple nights. The store hours were limited and the store staff was less than friendly. We love our yearly vacation here and would have overlooked a lot of these issues had they not almost doubled the price for next year. If they are going to increased the price, they need to increase their offerings, not take them away."
