"On the positive side the staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is also excellent. The bedrooms are fine but nothing particularly memorable. We had a room with a double and one single. I’d requested one with a queen / king bed and even though I spoke to the hotel. I think I just got fobbed off that the double was larger. My main issue with my low rating was 1. Before check in I had received an email saying that if I wanted to guarantee an early check in I could have one for €25 charge. I Decided I’d take our chances, turned up at 12.45 and advised that my room was ready - But if I wanted access I needed to pay €25 otherwise I had to wait till later- now I’ve travelled the world and never been charged for a room that was already ready. I paid as we were going to a wedding but talk about annoyed. 😡. 2. For my princely extra charge I then got a room with a broken floor tile in the bathroom, a sink with a crack in it and a toilet pan that water continuously poured into. This really isn’t acceptable if you define your property as 4 star. 2. We had a late super in the bar - just ordered 2 starters - prawns in chili and garlic - utterly inedible due to what tasted like sugar - sent back and received a more edible version. I had the chicken wings - don’t bother - the blue cheese dip was dreadful. The wings themselves were pretty poor. I will say the staff were very helpful but please don’t send food of this standard out of the kitchen. 3. On check out (I had paid everything on arrival) I mentioned my room and extra charge issues to reception and Molly was very apologetic and tried to get the manger, who after a 10 minute wait was unavailable. 4. Finally I’m inclined to think a price of €545 (including my annoying €25 charge) is excessive for their offering Overall I’d say this hotel is at best ok, but really needs to focus on room and food improvements."
