"Could not fault our stay in any way, would absolutely recommend booking direct with Sammy and his amazing team. Incredibly friendly welcome from Sammy, you made to feel completely at home, unsurprisingly there were a lot of guests who were clearly repeat visitors. Our room was very well appointed and comfortable and even had its own patio, the breakfast was delicious and very relaxed. Genuine guest houses like this are sadly becoming increasingly rare so I strongly advise coming here for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Looking forward to coming back as soon as we can."

"We stayed for a second time to meet up with family . The welcolme and sevice was exeptional , great rooms , clean and well equipt. Lovely veiws of Looe, small beach with rockpools nearby and a short walk into the center. Nice improvements from last year, a decking area at the back is a great addition. The best thing is the warm and friendliness of the ladies who run it . Nothing it too much trouble. We are looking forward to a return visit soon"

"The Gate is a lovely small and truly boutique hotel. We had our last visit to Charlie Walter’s restaurant at The Gate, since he will be moving on to another venture. We enjoyed our pig cheek, fish cakes, duck and halibut followed by panacotta with wines. Service was effective, merry and personal. See you in the future in your new venue."

"We went this evening for their Wednesday roast dinner. Served from 16.00 to 20.00. It was plentiful, well presented & very tasty with a choice of 3 meats or a mix of each. The staff were friendly and helpful. The area was clean & tidy. They also serve a roast dinner on Sunday lunchtime Will definitely be back"

"Sammy was a amazing Host, very friendly and welcoming! I was right bang in the middle of Looe, what a beautiful place! The room was lovely and clean and everything that you needed was in there. I had the single room and it was cute! You had your own Bathroom which was outside on the landing which was totally fine and again lovely and clean and shower was powerful. Breakfast was plentiful and Sammy always made sure you was ok and nothing was too much trouble for him. The only thing I would suggest is to supply some Fans as the room was quite warm as the sun was coming into the room as it was south-facing and also it was a heatwave when I came so that did not help lol. But it would be good to get some and give to guests if needed :) I will defiantly come back and stay at Sammy's in the future its such a lovely welcoming place and you really feel like home there. I told my family about it and they may just stay here too in the future."

"So i had a disapointing day at the spa due to medical issues i never realised would bar me from having a treatment. I was gutted as id waited near 2 years for a massage but ultimatly it was my own fault and guidance had been sent in a confirmation e-mail that i just glanced over. The response from the managment/threapist could not have been any better however especally as this was my own stupidity not any liabilty on their part. They offered me treatments i could have, a complimentary meal at the bar or my money refunded and bearing in mind this was my own fault their response was above and beyond what i would expect. I will be back in 4 more years for my treatment and will continue to use the facilities in the meantime as it has all you need for a relaxing time poolside. 5 stars also to Kat the receptionist. If there is a kinder, more politie receptionist this side of the Tamar i have yet to meet them. Just what you want to see when first being greeted in a hotel"

"Absolutely amazing. I went there on the 16th February 2026 and they was amazing. There was a little wait at reception but nothing too bad the we checked in very easily. Amazing staff showed us to our room which did has never happened before with the other hotels I’ve said it. I will be going back. The rooms are perfect and we had a balcony looking over the sea it was amazing"

"We visited The Gate for a two night stay & stayed in The Loft studio apartment. The studio is very nice with a very comfortable bed, table & chairs, very nice shower room, balcony with gorgeous green countryside views, a bathtub on the balcony if you fancy a bit of alfresco bathing & a tiny kitchenette, which was very useful. There is also a good coffee machine with pods provided. The TV can also get Netflix etc & that was good too. There is a restaurant there too but it was closed during our stay & we didn’t need it as we had breakfast in our Loft studio. The owner Richard was excellent at communicating with us, giving us tips on restaurants & places & beaches nearby to go. He was an excellent host. I would definitely stay here again."

"Sharon is an amazing host. The place was very clean and well maintained. The breakfast was amazing fresh and very tasty. It's about a 10/15 minute walk into looe but you have amazing views as you walk in. There loads of parking around sea view and it's very safe to leave the car when you're out and about. The bed was super comfortable and it a very good size room and a lovely hot shower and very tastefully decorated. Would happily stay again. "
