The buffet dinner is very disappointing for $75/each, but the room is quite clean & tidy, this is the second time that no bathrobe supplied since last visit July 2024 even we had requested upon the reception agreed to send someone down. The service attitude from the hotel staff had been declined since changed hand from originally Holiday Inn Rotorua.
There was fire evacuation alarm happening at 5:20am and many people was forced to evacuate to the outdoor where it’s quite cold & windy, we didn’t receive any apology or concern of comfort from the hotel. Looks like is not their business and they don’t care!
But overall, we still will come again in the future as we enjoy the facilities and the location there.

I recently stayed at Arawa Park Hotel and had a pleasant experience overall. The location is excellent—close to Rotorua’s main attractions and surrounded by beautiful scenery.
The room was spacious, clean, and featured large, comfortable beds. Considering the affordable price, it’s excellent value for money and ideal for anyone looking for a comfortable, budget-friendly stay.
The staff were attentive and friendly, even offering to heat up meals for guests—a thoughtful touch that added convenience. I also appreciated their focus on security, as they took note of my car’s plate number during check-in.
I noticed that the hotel has washing machines and laundry facilities, which could be very useful for longer stays. While I didn’t ask if these are free for guests to use, it’s great to see such amenities available. Clearer information about their usage would be helpful.
One downside was the lack of adaptors in the room, which made charging devices a little inconvenient. Adding adaptors or universal outlets would greatly improve the overall experience for guests.
Overall, Arawa Park Hotel is an excellent choice for a comfortable and affordable stay in Rotorua. With minor tweaks like providing adaptors and clearer communication about amenities, it could be even better.

The location is very central and convenient. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The room has a comfortable bed and luxuriously roomy bathroom. We charged our electric car overnight in the hotel’s car park. Our family of three had a comfortable stay throughout. We would definitely book this place again.

Stayed here for 3 nights and it was a good stay apart from some of the facilities available in the room. Clean rooms however bathroom needs a upgrade. Being a 4 star hotel and still using stained bath tubs with curtain for showers. Also arrived hotel at 4pm (2pm check in time) and was told to wait as rooms were still not ready until 5:30.

Room was very disappointing. We thought we would be staying in the original hotel building however our room was in an additional newer building down the road. The room has a poor layout, furniture was worn, carpet was dirty, curtain rail rusting, poor tiling and painting. Did not have the historic special feeling we expected. Photos looked 4 stars, room looked 1 star in the flesh. The room was expensive compared to other options in town. We couldn't believe it and wanted to cancel our 2nd night. Staff were great but the room was not what we wanted

They have great customer service. Are very polite and easy to talk to. The only two sad things was that I asked for our room to be cleaned while I took the kids out in the morning around 8. But when I arrived back in the afternoon around 4pm, it was not yet cleaned. Also the shower head was very hard to use. Maybe it has some plugging issues. The water comes out outwards, not focused in the middle.

The environment is really good, close to the lake, the accommodation is on the first floor, and the second floor is the restaurant and other public facilities. I like the breakfast room on the second floor, which is said to be the best in the town.
But I can't praise the sincerity of the hotel's service. We arrived at night, and we were greeted by a Chinese who claimed to be borrowed from another hotel to work the night shift. I learned that the owner of the hotel is Chinese. There are several stores in the town, so it is understandable that the staff are shared. But the following few things are very strange and make people doubt whether this store has professionalism and evil intentions:
First, we were arranged to stay in a room. After settling down, we checked the original order and found that it was inconsistent with the room type picture in the order. We found the receptionist and responded that it was a mistake because he was not familiar with it. He agreed to change it and showed enthusiasm to help move the luggage. We forgave him temporarily;
After checking in, we found that there was a device failure and called the waiter again. He came to fix it himself. At this time, it was known that he was not a temporary help and was not unfamiliar with the situation in the store;
At breakfast the next day, one of us went to breakfast first and found that there was only a small area with simple milk, cold bread and other foods. He asked the waiter (still the same person) why there were so few. He brought an English menu and said that there were freshly made dishes here, but they needed to be paid separately. When we came to eat, the waiter still swore that it only included a simple breakfast😰. It is not uncommon for breakfast restaurants to make breakfast according to customer needs. Our hotel room included breakfast fees, so how could it be just simple milk and bread? At this time, the waiter started to call someone, and a white woman came. After a few simple conversations, it was immediately OK. At the same time, it also reported to Ctrip, which booked the hotel. After verification, Ctrip apologized and comforted. A wonderful journey, beautiful scenery, and a beautiful breakfast were almost ruined by the waiter. The most ridiculous thing is that he swore that this is the case here, and a single order will be charged separately. After proving that he was wrong, he also added that the store where I work charges separately;
Another detail that happened later proved his problem again: when we communicated with the white staff and got OK, she brought over a Chinese and English menu. Recalling that the Chinese waiter only handed over the English one. At this point, there is no doubt that it was intentional before. To put it nicely, it was done by the employees themselves. If they were caught, they would collect black money to make extra money, but there was obviously no price on the menu. Is this blind or low IQ? ! The waiter also introduced himself as working here after graduating from a graduate program in New Zealand. I suspect that the hotel owner instructed them to test the waters with Chinese guests. When someone raised a question, he said that the waiter was unfamiliar with the situation and made a mistake. If he got away with it, he would get away with it. If the waiter was really unfamiliar with the situation and made repeated mistakes, the hotel is also responsible. Since it is a hotel open to the public and the price is not cheap, shouldn't it be equipped with professional and well-educated waiters? Isn't it a serious discount on the service if someone who is not trained and unfamiliar with the situation comes? !
Fortunately, Ctrip is guaranteed. Afterwards, it has received a 300 yuan consolation payment. I hope that in the future, it will strengthen the review and supervision of this type of non-standard homestay hotel services to protect the interests of tourists, especially to avoid possible traps in overseas travel. I didn't expect that even today, I would still encounter traps set by Chinese people against Chinese people.
I hope that I will not receive consolation money in the future. After all, it is more important to be happy when traveling. But thank you Ctrip for its quick response.

QQiqidetaikongmanyouGenerally speaking, although all the hotels booked during the self-driving trip around New Zealand may not be available in luxury hotels (after all, the population density is very low), basically all the hotel beds are very comfortable and clean, which is really important. During the day, we are basically outside either driving or hiking, so having a comfortable and clean bed when we rest really ensures our sleep quality. I was mentally prepared before arriving at the room every time, but in fact, every time it was a little bit beyond my expectations. Like the one I booked in Rotorua this time, the room was clean and tidy, the bedding and mattress were very comfortable, and there was an extra bed in the room. The bed is very comfortable, the kitchen has an oven, the bathroom has a washing machine, and it's very close to the busiest streets. Because the itinerary is very tight, I arrive at the hotel very late every time and leave very early, so the above conditions are considered satisfactory for self-driving travel👍👍
NNur RuzannaVery clean, has everything you need. Wasn’t able to check in by 630pm, called them in advance to inform and arranged for a self check in. Emily was very kind, explained the steps over the phone, and texted again just as a reminder. Self check in was very easy and convenient. Instructions were attached with the key, documents were neatly placed in the room.
Only downside was it wasn’t very close to the supermarket/shops, probably about 15min walk, but it was raining so took us 20min. Driving would have been better.
Please note there’s no lift, so we had to carry our luggage to the 2nd floor.
Overall, would come back again, it was still a great stay!
GGayani DWe selected a family room because we have a toddler . But the room was not baby friendly. Lots of sharp corners and edges of furnitures. Also the shower cubicle was very slippery and had to take additional care when bathing the baby.
GGuest UserUpgraded from Queen to spa studio but didn't use the spa. Mini kitchenette in spa studio but no stove. Only defect is rusty moldy buttons on WC. In the bedroom apartment, able to cook on stove but dining table only has space for 3 pax , although chairs available for 5 pax. Living room has sofa, TV with netflix. Car park below ground is tight for bigger cats and should have numbering system
AAround&AboutWe stayed 3 nights in a private room at Rock Solid. The first room we got assigned was just below the lounge area and given the walls are so thin it really seemed like a group of people was in our room. The manager was very nice and moved us into a different room- walls still thin but at least in a different location vs the first room. The common areas are big and clean + you get 50% discount on the climbing wall gym which we used!
Rreturn visitorOutward appearance is good, but on closer Inspection it is shabby, once was high class accommodation but now cushions and curtains dirty. Unidentified scraps on bed linen and bathroom had very visible mould. The bath is a great size with headrest, heated floor and good water pressure. Our room had a great view of the lake, but people walking past windows, no real privacy. Good size room interesting room layout.
GGuest UserWe recently stayed for two nights at Urban Lounge Rotorua, and it was a fantastic experience! The friendly staff welcomed us and made us feel at home. Although we didn't catch the name of the receptionist who assisted us during check-in, both she and Prasad were lovely.
The facilities were excellent. The kitchen was fully equipped, which made it easy for us to prepare our own meals. We also enjoyed the co-lab space, where my wife and I were able to get some work done.
Overall, we felt we received great value for our money during our stay.
CCHENXUThe geographical location is unique, the room is big, there is a kitchen, and it is enthusiastic, and the milk is delivered every day. The two elderly people check whether the room is closed every day to see if it is safe. There is a kitchen for cooking. Satisfaction
QQyimThe front desk staff is very friendly, the hotel is close to the food street, there are large supermarkets and home supplies stores nearby, very convenient. The room is spacious,
The bathroom flower sprinkle has strong water outlet and the overall service is satisfactory.
The downside is that the room has no air conditioning, only fans are provided, and the wall lights are not operating normally.
