The beautiful, large lobby, which reflects the long history of the hotel is hugely impressive whilst the rooms are stylishly modern. My room had plenty of room for storage (often lacking in many hotels), a very comfortable double bed and an immaculate, well designed large bathroom. Breakfast offerings were exceptional and it was good (and rare) to be able to have items cooked to order. The lobby cafe/bar was pleasant but service was disappointingly slow. Although these are difficult times due to the pandemic, it was a great shame that the restaurant and bar were both closed. Given that most other hospitality premises had reopened in Hamburg, I found it odd that the hotel had not been able to open them and had not publicised that fact more openly on their website.

Sometimes we are in hotels where you somehow get a strange feeling right from the moment you check in. You don't feel comfortable and welcome. The Courtyard Hamburg City is one of them. It started at the reception during our very early check-in. The staff member told us in a supercilious manner that we had received an upgrade. But the ”better” rooms had not yet been cleaned. But because we were getting an upgrade, it would certainly be worth waiting for the room. Our question about when we could expect the room was only answered with the statement that the actual check-in was at 3 pm. We could go into town in the meantime, it's not far and we shouldn't come back too early - 3 pm. We could leave our luggage at the hotel. There is still room for improvement! And so there were a few similar little things during our stay. None of them big issues. But just a lot of little things where you keep asking yourself: ”Why? Why don't they just do it better?” The stay ended as it had begun. After our online check-out, we discovered that the bill was not correct. However, this was corrected immediately after a complaint by e-mail. No comment. Without apology or the like. A word about breakfast, as there were many comments on this: The restaurant in the hotel is run by an outside company. This is not noticeable at first glance. Nevertheless, this constellation has disadvantages. For example, the restaurant is closed one day a week (breakfast is of course available all week). Is that a good thing for a hotel? That's something everyone has to decide for themselves. But now to breakfast: Cost: 25 Euros, if not already included in the room rate. The breakfast is extensive. Nevertheless, there are some things that are not there. For example, freshly prepared egg dishes. Here, you are treated to prefabricated fried eggs, scrambled eggs and the like, some of which look rather adventurous. There are also no pencakes or waffles. On the other hand, there is a large vegetarian/vegan corner. Most of the dishes are of very high quality, often even organic or Demeter. The service is prompt, attentive and friendly. The ambience in the restaurant is also quite good. Is the breakfast now worth its 25 euros? Yes, because the restaurant is run by a third party and the operator also has to earn money. Yes, because the ingredients are of very high quality. Yes, because the selection is quite large. No, because certain things such as egg dishes prepared on site are missing. No, because the selection is large, but not outstanding. In our opinion, a price of 19 euros would suit the breakfast better.

It’s an okay hotel if you are in Hamburg. Located close to the main train station so it’s easy to get to. However it is right infront of the police station. The hotel atmosphere is a bit outdated. They do have a wellness area but the layout is a bit weird so it wasn’t really relaxing. No are where you can change out of your clothes (and no bathropes available). You have to walk through the sauna area (where you are normally not so dressed) to the gym area (where people are dressed). Furthermore people use the attached rooftop balcony to hang out in the Evening. So people walk through in their street clothes as well. However, the staff was always nice.

I booked this lovely property with miles, but cash rates are typically very reasonable. I enjoyed my stay greatly. The atmosphere felt fresh and new (as if the hotel had been recently constructed), the location is within walking distance to the subway station and Miniatur Wunderland, and the service is very kind and helpful. Thinking back on it, I hope I didn’t sound too entitled when I was asking every two hours if there was a room available for early check-in (I hadn’t slept the night before!). The staff were so patient and accommodating. I loved them. The rooms were everything I needed for a one-night stay, and then some. My request for a courtyard-facing room was granted, and I slept with the utmost bliss. Cleanliness was apparent throughout the room and lobby areas. The space I was given was large, comfy, and workable for someone in an electric wheelchair. I shall leave by mentioning one thing I wasn’t aware of—the holiday of Pentecost is apparently a huge thing in Germany. While this brought awesome advantages like zero traffic and a feeling as if Hamburg was a ghost town I had to myself for a day, it also meant the on-site restaurant was closed (and most other restaurants). Not complaining—just FYI if you’re visiting in early June! Thanks for the best stay I could ever ask for!

This is in general a good hotel, but with room for improvement. The location in the old warehouse district is excellent, and the rooms are well appointed and comfortable, with the exception of the towels, which are quite small and poor quality, not in any way in keeping with the standard of the hotel. The staff were reasonably efficient, but cold and unfriendly. Either it is a bad place to work, or they need some serious training in hospitality. We never tried the food as the one night we wanted to eat the restaurant was closed due to staff shortages. It was expensive, but I think that was in some considerable part due to our stay coinciding with a major exhibition, making accommodation scarce across the city I would probably go back again as the excellent location offsets the poor points, just.

Stayed in a single room, then switched to a 6 man dorm on the final night as it was Sunday and was expecting it to be very quiet. The single rooms are spartan and there is not even a chair, just some little stuffed stool. The issue in Hamburg is that accomdation is expensive in the city. For the same money, you could stay at a very nice 3 star hotel in many European cities! The 6 man dorm seemed quiet and ok, and then I noticed the issues. There were beer stains on the floor that acted as adhesive for my shoes. Crumbs and discarded sweet rappers in and around the bed. I had the room to myself so didn't complain. Settled for a decent night's rest. That's when someone came in at midnight (Sunday) and loudly stomped around, turning on all of the lights. They then took a shower and took their merry time settling into bed... For the price the rooms are not up to scratch. However, there aren't many ”cheaper” alternatives in Hamburg and the hostel (that charges hotel prices) know this. The check-in service was tedious and there's a queue at check in time. When I switched rooms to the 6 man dorm I said I wanted an early checkin to the that room if possible, and on the quiet side of the building (non motorway). They said no problem. Then, when I went to the room, it was of course on the noisy side. Went back and had to wait a couple hours longer before I could access the quieter room that I had asked for. The customer service is not great. They'll ask for your booking number even after you tell them your name. I did not feel like digging around for the number so I said my name and they searched for it (much to their distain probably).

Fantastic service from Paulina. She checked me into the hotel efficiently. Told me all about the services offered by the hotel. She was friendly and helpful. I had asked her to help me pay a traffic ticket that was written in German. She read the ticket, translated and helped me figure out how to pay it. Thank you. The hotel was under renovation but the room was very nice. It was quiet and had a nice view of the canal. The location is very central-walking distance to most sites and to the shopping areas. Would definitely stay here again.

Super service, only the drinking machines were cold/heat had problems, but this may be because not so many guests were expected. There could still be work on it. Moin. It means Hi, Hello, Good morning, Good night and everything in between as long as it is used to greet people. Thats what Hamburg always had done, traditionally a city of merchants, globetrotters and adventurers, dockworkers and traders, Hamburg has always been a gateway to the world. Nowadays its home to creative people from the world of media, music and fashion, a city of arts and those who make an art out of living. An ideal setting for Moxy nested in the heart of Hamburg in between Alster and Elbe the two iconic rivers that spread its maritime flair all over the area. When you think of Hamburg you automatically think of the harbor, rough industrial styles and on the other hand canals and romance like it was little Venice. Thats what the interior of Moxy is all about: contrasts. All the different cult districts find their way into Moxy Hamburg Mitte. From red light to beach club and from pop culture to enchanting villas #atthemoxy catches all of it.

This is from an American perspective. I found the room rather small - with a Queen bed being the largest bed size, and not much room for anything else in the room. The bathroom was adequate enough - no major complaints there. The bedding (including pillows) was not up to Marriott standards in my opinion. The A/C was a joke. It did not matter what temp or setting I used - it was always the same temperature. I had to open/close the window to adjust the room temp. The TV was a decent size, but they only had 3 English channels - BBC/CNN/CNBC. So no English entertainment channels. The only other option was Youtube channel - to watch video clips. No Netflix or other apps where you can sign in with your own account. Also - no closet/no drawers/no coffee maker/no mini-fridge/no ice bucket nor ice machine. This hotel is also not around much. There is a supermarket within walking distance, but there are some shady people along the way. Also a couple of random restaurants near the market - but not for a decent meal. You would need to walk about a mile to get to some decent places to eat. The breakfast was good with lots of options. And the best part of this hotel was the staff. They were all very friendly and always eager to assist.

As I travel very frequently for leisure and business I have a broad frame of reference. This hotel has positively surprised me. Many hotels still use Covid as an excuse to strip down their service. Not this one: extremely friendly, helpful and anticipating reception staff (big compliment and thank you to Uwe Ahlburg at the reception - one of a kind customer oriented top professional - really OUTSTANDING). You get water, slippers and full amenities in your room. They offered a second bottle at check in just in case that you dont have to walk down again. Hotel still offers desinfection everywhere. Room is clean and was desinfected. Beds are very comfy, room not huge but big enough, bathroom has sufficient space to deposite all items, light is good and magnifying mirror is effective. Only item to improve is the coffee was only decaf and not sufficient milk powder and I could hear a bit from other guest through connection door. Check in and out very effective. Asked for a taxi in a hurry and staff walked over for me to get it as fast as possible. Its not a luxury 5 Star super fancy place but if back in HH I’d still prefer it over those as in the end service makes the difference and not the price / look of the furniture. Excellent value for money.

GGuest UserAll in all the hotel is quite good, unfortunately some shortcomings put it to average for us. Upon check in, was asked at the reception whether we were Covid vaccinated 2 or 3 times. The certificate itself was barely looked at and no QR code scan was done. During our 3 nights stay, this was correctly done when entering Restaurant for breakfast, so why not at first contact point Reception? Upon entering our room (336), immediately noticed that it was rather cold inside. Normal if a window is open and aircon set at lowest level… Noticed as well that some empty shopping paper bags and some used brochures had most probably been forgotten during cleaning. In fact the bags were rather big and could not be overseen… Worse however were 2 used plastic cups in the bathroom, once again impossible to oversee them! The room itself was quite ok if you do not consider some stains on carpet and chair, however the very small wardrobe is kind of bad joke. ONE small storage compartment for a double room and no other storage possibilities in the room is far from standard! Breakfast on Sunday morning was rather chaotic with a completely full restaurant. Why not attribute time slots in order to avoid such a situation? This is done in some hotels and is rather helpful. On the day of our departure, somebody knocked at our room door at 08.45 am. Quite astonished that it was the cleaning lady who asked at what time we would leave... Had never experienced such acting in any other hotel also considering the check-out time of 11.00 am

GGuest UserThe room comes with 1 queen size sofa bed and a toilet once you open the room door. Then there is a sliding door. Once you open the sliding door you will see a king size bed and a shower room with bath tub and toilet. There are 2 TVs, 4 pairs of room slippers. Room size is comfortable for 4 adults. At lobby the hotel provide welcome drinks and cookies. Also packet juice and morning coffee. The hotel is opposite the terminal 1 main entrance. Has to walk cross the road and it was snowing when we were there, very cold.

GGuest UserThe check-in service went without problems and quickly we received our room. The staff is premature and friendly. The room was also clean. And also offers enough room for clothes. The bathroom is small, but it is enough for shower and tooth cleaning. We would have booked breakfast if we didn't have to leave so early. For a weekend trip, this hotel is recommended.

GGuest UserWe stayed at the Super 8 in Mitte, Hamburg at the beginning of March 2022. It is in a good location, not far from Berliner Tor train and Metro stations. There are a few places to eat in the area , as well as supermarkets (including a huge REAL supermarket close to the station!). We found the staff to be very helpful during our stay, supplying us with information, etc. I would definately recommend this hotel!

GGuest UserFrom outside the hotel makes surely a super impression and the location at the Alster is also top, unfortunately it was also with the positive. As in some reviews, the hotel is now ”in the years” and the Corona time has certainly backed up this and the investments have been completely stopped. The rooms are unfortunately everything other than clean, the tape floor old and dirty, the bathroom is not cleaned, shower is calcified etc. As a direct notice at the reception, the rooms are currently ”for Corona” not cleaned... which of course makes much sense because you should probably clean more and disinfect more at the moment. If I want a cleaning, fresh towels etc. I have to register this extra. Unfortunately my room was not even before my arrival cleaned. Although fresh new bed linen were available, but since there were still old towels in the waste board, they were not even empty, which is a complete no-go for me ... Breakfast was okay, But nothing special and after 3 days you had the same three times because there was no change. Reception was sporadically occupied when the staff were not smoking at the moment. Unfortunately, there was no WiFi in the hotel, which is a bad thing as you are almost all in the building No mobile reception (both with my private and service phone, which are two different networks). Price-performance is definitely not proportional here, as it is not even a cheap hotel. It will not stay here in the future.

JJade DRight in the middle of the Reeperbahn, near KFC, very rowdy but this is a safe hotel that accommodates tourists. We loved the convenience of being able to explore St Pauli and also get a taxi to the airport in the middle of the night as the taxi rank is just downstairs. Smelt of smoke in our room, but it was still clean and well-prepared. Looks like the photos, but no elevator till the 1st floor. This was the view from our room, we were street facing but slept well, the hotel is well insulated from noise.

GGuest UserVery Polluted !!! I had a room in the 5.Etage - the driving chair runs from 1 to 4.Etage, the steps to 1 are difficult to handle for walking disabled, and that to 5.Etage also - but I needed a room (it was after 21:00). The door to the room was hard to open, the room makes a bad impression, only the clean bed moved me to stay. In view of the stairs in the house I stayed in ”Room” No 51 ! The floor cover was very flawful, the electrical lines were very defectly shifted, the washing basin directly in the room, the television went not - probably the dirty remote control; a guide was not found for the device! Shower in the hall - toilet as well! THE HOTEL IS NOT RECOMMEND !!!
