Travel by car to Datong to see the Yungang Grottoes. On my fourth day in Shanxi, I stayed in the most cost-effective hotel. The details are well done, very clean, and the girl at the front desk has a great attitude! Because I am a member of the Huazhu Club, I received another McDonald's breakfast as a gift. Parking is underground and the hotel reimburses you. Very convenient. Full praise!

When we checked out, we took the remaining water with us. The breakfast is also delicious, with freshly made knife-cut noodles and millet porridge. I drank three bowls in a row. It is also very convenient to travel, whether by car or by taxi, but it is quiet in the bustling city. You can walk to the ancient city by turning right. This kind of national hotel is comfortable and I will stay here next time I come to Datong.

When we arrived we were given the wrong room in B tower with single beds, we had to go back downstairs and show the booking again to request the correct double room in A tower. The rooms and amenities are old, and the fridge is broken. I called reception who told me to bring any items I want to cool down to the reception and use their fridge, when I asked if we can swap the broken fridge for a working fridge, they said all of the fridges are like this. They won't admit the fridges are all broken, but all of the fridges in the hotel are warm and won't make your food / beverages cold. The hotel is in dire need of an upgrade, and they need to replace the fridges.

Very good location, at a walking distance from Old town, we felt super safe and comfortable here! Staff: definitely the top reason to stay here, they made our stay unforgettable and went the extra mile to help us out organize our excursions, thanks for everything! I loved this hotel. It has an old-fashioned charm that made me feel right at home. My room was very large, comfortable, and well-equipped. All of the staff and service people were extremely courteous from start to finish. The Chinese restaurant on the 7th floor has a great choice of dishes! Highly recommended, and excellent value for money. A great base for exploring the sights around Datong.

You have to stay here! Everything is perfect. Hotel is lovely. Staff are so welcoming and helpful. We had a problem and one staff member had excellent English and could solve our problem. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. Thank you again, I highly recommend your hotel.

We spent two wonderful nights at Yungang Hotel in Datong. First of all, our deepest gratitude to Yang wen yuan - 杨文元. When booking from Europe, we did not realise correctly the time required to get to the caves and to the hanging monastery (a must view when in Datong). We thought that by using public transport we could manage to do both in a short period of time. So wrong! We arrived and Yang wen yuan - 杨文元 reassured us and in less than 30 minutes he was able to help and book for us a private car for the next day. He made our stay unforgettable. Thanks a lot from both of us if you are reading ! Plus, this hotel is wonderful : super new, technological and the staff is super kind (from the ones in the lobby to the ones in the restaurant/cafeteria). Breakfast is amazing. You can have everything, freshly made for you.

I have stayed in so many hotels, both cheap and expensive, but I have never encountered a leaking water pipe in the room. The water supply was cut off in the middle of taking a shower. It was speechless. Although the staff actively solved the problem every time, Weidu is considered a mid-to-high-end hotel in Datong. Why is there so many problems with the infrastructure? But to be honest, the hotel bedding is very comfortable and the knife-cut noodles for breakfast are delicious. But can the room facilities be maintained?
