"When we arrived in the room (very small and located at the end of the 1st floor, with a view of the roof, shower inside the bedroom and WC at the entrance) we found it full of ants and insects, both alive and dead) we asked for explanations given that the staff were knowledgeable and had sprinkled the room and toilet with powder to kill the ants. Answer: At the moment we do not have other rooms available for a change and they offer us a change of hotel about a kilometer away PAESTUM INN BEACH RESORTE 4 stars instead of 5 stars of the MEC PAESTUM or alternatively they would have given us something back. In the end we accepted, even though the location was outside the town and a type suitable for the sea. Obviously it wasn't what I wanted and less than what I requested and paid for. No refunds from the property. Definitely avoid next time."

"I’m not usually one to leave reviews but I felt incredibly compelled to leave one for Hotel Cerere. We booked a package holiday with an airline and once we arrived, we were greeted by hotel staff who had friendly smiles. One lady checked us in and requested I send my hotel voucher across, absolutely no issue. She then showed us to our room and gave us a wifi code. The wifi was shocking, but being on holiday we didn’t care too much for it. We tried to turn the air-con on and eventually figured it out (all doors/windows have to be closed, it says this in the manual left in the room) but the air-con didn’t actually cool the room down, just the area by the door and it still only blew air out at 24°C, even though we changed it to 20°C as that’s the lowest it said it would go. When a 4-star hotel promises air-con, you’d hope it would work. We went to the pool outside the main hotel which was nice and came up to just below my shoulders (I’m 5ft 9inches). The next morning, we went downstairs for breakfast, the waiting staff were nice and there was a good selection of pastries, cheese, bread and an omelette station (this is the same everyday). The beach is about a 10 minute walk away, and although there is a shuttle we weren’t informed of times or how to use this service. We explored the other pool which is near the residence, and we definitely preferred this one, completely down to personal preference, but it was deeper (my 6ft3 partner couldn’t touch the bottom) and we could properly swim in this pool, it also had a diving board. Our room also got cleaned everyday by the cleaning staff who were absolutely lovely, I cannot fault them. This is unfortunately where the positives end. The communication from the front desk staff was not great, the food you could order from the pool bar was not good, and we felt judged every time we walked through the lobby like we didn’t belong there. When it came to checking out, we got to the front desk expecting to pay for the drinks from the mini-fridge and the tourist tax, however we got told to pay nearly €1600. As said previously, we had booked a package holiday and had already paid for the room through our holiday team. The front desk staff didn’t seem to understand this even though I had sent them the voucher that they had asked for! Eventually another staff member got called in to deal with the situation and it was eventually sorted but it was not how we wanted to end our holiday."

"Esplanade Boutique Hotel. From start to finish our whole holiday has been amazing. The Hotel is so welcoming and the staff are exceptional. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they all looked after us so well. Thank you! I think we managed to meet them all!! Including the chefs which was such an extra bonus. The food was amazing in fact some of the best we have eaten. From towels for the loungers to the cleanliness of the whole entire place, I was so happy that our niece chose this hotel to stay. The decor was perfect and each corner had some amazing artwork that was exquisite and unique. The whole aroma of the place was divine and led to us buying many of their home fragrances. A nice reminder of our wonderful visit. Our room was amazing and the views were stunning. Overlooking the sunrise and sunset in the hills. Everything was cleaned twice daily and fresh linen and towels changed daily too. What more could you ask for?! We took a trip to the hotels beach club 93, which again was truly wonderful. We were even lucky enough to see a bride and groom having photos taken. From bottle water at our loungers to lunch at the club everything was just perfect. The shuttle took us to and from the hotel no problems at all. I believe the walk is not far, however we chose to use the shuttle service. Again from leaving the hotel on trips to returning we were always greeted with the most lovely welcoming and goodbyes. Just those little things that made it even more special. We chose to eat at the hotel for lunch and dinner on numerous occasions due to the food being so very good. From steak to pasta dishes we were spoilt for choice. The dining room was so luxurious and welcoming. We were often in there three times a day and it really was something. Breakfast was also superb. Serving continental to hot including wonderful hot drinks. Loved the cake that they served also. What a treat to eat all were made fresh, they were delicious. I have and will continue to recommend this hotel to everyone. I have had the most amazing holiday with all my family. We were a group of 10. In fact it was by far the best holiday I have been on in my 50 years.! The spa is gorgeous and all 10 of us spent the afternoon together having treatments and being pampered. It was amazing. I cannot recommend this hotel and all its sister businesses enough. The adjoining sister hotel Savoy was gorgeous. The beach club and the farm estate is definitely a must to visit all belonging to the same family. It’s so inspiring to see a family business thriving like this. Catering to everyone’s needs and taking the time to interact with their customers. We spoke daily to the lovely owners and it was so lovely to hear their suggestions of places to go and visit to make our stay even more memorable . Just to take that time was something special. Small possible improvements on times for breakfast and meals (slightly narrow slots of two and a half hours for those on holiday I recommend at least 10-13) and I would also include children's meals at midday"
