Mercure Berau
"1. It was a brand new hotel, having only been open for a week. Everything, including the room, was clean and nice. 2. The location was about 20 minutes from the airport and 5 minutes from the port to Derawan, but it was right in the city center. 3. For food, I think the best option was to just eat at the restaurant. Berau doesn't have a particularly good food scene, but the hotel offers a variety of options, including pizza, burgers, and rice dishes, and they were all delicious. Due to Islamic culture, alcohol isn't sold anywhere. 4. The staff was better than expected. Of course, the security guard didn't speak English very well. 5. There were water bottles in the room, and they were placed in the hallways and near the elevators, so you could get as much as you needed. I had trouble operating the machines, so I took my bottle down to the restaurant and asked for some water. The entire third floor is dedicated to meeting rooms and restaurants, and smoking is permitted in the central glass-enclosed smoking area and on the veranda. 6. As soon as you enter the first floor, there's a lobby. If you continue straight to the right, you'll find the swimming pool and exercise room. 7. Next time I visit Berau, I'd definitely stay at this hotel again."
Pratasaba Resort
"We stayed 6 nights in this magnificent resort on our trip to Indonesian Borneo. The location is a corner of paradise, the structure is truly beautiful, but it could become beautiful with a few more precautions. The restaurant overlooks the coral reef, where you can snorkel to admire many varieties of fish and coral. The sea is clear, truly beautiful, the same cannot be said of the beach, perhaps the sore point, which should be looked after a little more, for example by replacing the rusty wooden sunbeds and removing the plastic on the seashore. We stayed in the Saroja Suite, a truly impeccable room, clean and spacious. The restaurant is good, both breakfast and lunch/dinner, but the service could be improved a little, for example it would be good to have the dishes arrive all together and put some more cutlery. The possibility of going on excursions to the nearby islands is very nice, no more than 50 minutes by boat from the resort. Communication with the staff is a little difficult, as only a few people speak English. In short, certainly one of the best places to spend unforgettable days, with a structure that could become perfect with a few small adjustments."

Neotel Hotel City Centre
"The hotel is old and tired. Great value for money especially on a 1 night stop. Western food near by with great roof top bar and restaurant over the back. However breakfast is really poor but could wackily be improved just by cooking fresh eggs. Not much too ask"
Sans Hotel Berau Square
"The hotel is clean and the shower water is good."
