On March 13 to March 15, I stayed at the Intercontinental Auckland. My first night at that hotel was probably the worst of any hotel stay in my life. We arrived at 930AM from international flight from the US. The hotel did not have a room ready, which was understandable. There actually were rooms ready, but the front desk did not want to assign an upgrade. The bell hop held our bags and was to place our bags into the assigned room. We come back at 515PM, get the room keys. We go to the room and we cannot enter the room because the security flapper was closed. We go back to the front desk. The assistant manager goes up with us to the room. Of course, he cannot open the door. We are told to go to dinner, and the hotel would cover half of dinner. At 630PM, we are given another room, and told that dinner would all be comped. We wait in the new room for 4 more hours. Just after 1020PM, a bellhop brought us our bags. We waited 5 hours for our bags. We were tired after a 16-hour flight. We needed our meds and our CPAP machine. During this period there were numerous conversations of we’re doing the best we can. Hogwash! I spoke to the assistant manager at our room’s door at approximately 730PM. I told him he needed to drill the locks on the interconnecting doors. Because you see, our room was identical to the previous room. We only reserved one room. The assigned rooms had interconnecting doors. We suspect that the person who put our bags into the first room, exited from the other room after closing the shared doors. That person never checked our room’s security flapper. Comping our dinner, did nothing for the situation. The hotel should have put us in the nicest suite available. As that would have been the best service recovery! I know they were available, because I checked the IHG app. Instead, we get verbal apologies that never addressed our needs!!! Hello, we could have had a medical emergency, and this hotel plays with keys? There was no formal apology from the general manager, who never seemed to get involved. The comedy of errors and lack of empathy was astounding. At one point, I felt that the hotel was insinuating that somehow, we did this! Like really, how is that possible? The actual hotel is very nice. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The location cannot be beat if one is leaving on a cruise from Auckland. BUT, we would never stay at this hotel again! The actual operation of the hotel is very poor for a 5-star property. There is no good reason for what happened to us. I left after our 2 night stay, furious, aggravated and disappointed!!!

Honestly, overall I enjoyed the stay at the Copthrone Hotel in Auckland. The location was good and the staff were friendly. The bar was good (although like anything in Auckland everything was over priced) and the pasta I had one night was really good. Unfortunately the hotel needed a face lift. The paint on the walls were chipped, the carpet needed replacing and the doors wouldn't close properly. The bathrooms were untidy and very small. It was also a very noisy hotel. They Melenium Group need to spend some money on this facility because it could be a great hotel. 3 stars.

A centrally located hotel within walking distance of the harbour and other attractions. Stayed here for two nights to recover from a long flight before setting off on our New Zealand odyssey. Check in is efficient and our room was on the 23rd floor which afforded views across the city. The room was spacious and clean and the king size bed very comfortable. The bathroom was stocked with good quality accessories and the shower was powerful and hot. Ideal. However, we were close to lift and the whooshing noise when it was in use would annoy some. Breakfast was a little disappointing. The buffet is expensive for what’s on offer and the quality of the food we found average at best. At the time we stayed there was major construction work in progress outside the hotel although we were out during the day so it didn’t bother us.

Stayed at Lylo for 3-4 days and it’s probably the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. You check in on a device however there is a receptionist near in case you need anything. The design is amazing as well as the communal rooms/work spaces, it’s very new and renovated at the moment so it looks really great. There’s free wifi, a communal kitchen and bathrooms on each floor. There’s also a restaurant and bar, you get a card for one free drink too! I stayed in a private room and shared bathroom, the floor was super clean and quiet. The room itself was cute and tidy, we were missing a few things such as a rubbish bin (didn’t know the rooms came with one until we saw someone else on our floor with one). I think it would’ve of been nice if the room came with a television or a safe, however the room was great for the price so can’t complain too much :) location is central and easy access to everything within the city.

The first floor smelled of paint as it was under renovation, but the guest room floors were clean and odorless.
The bed was very clean and odorless, and I was able to have a personal area so I could rest in peace.
Various areas were under renovation, so workers were coming and going during the day, but the rooms were very quiet.
I can't speak English very well, but all the people at the reception were kind and responded politely and with translation help.
I appreciate it very much.
Unfortunately, there were no knives or scissors in the kitchen to cut the ingredients, making it difficult to prepare.
However, I am generally satisfied.
I will use it again when I come to Auckland!

The hostel is nice, though costly and a little decentralized. The common areas are very nice, but the fact that it has no bathrooms for both sexes on every floor is a real discomfort. Each floor has a kitchen, but they are microscopic and it is really hard to use it ....in addition in reception, except for Kase that is super efficient, others are a little made and put there, little wake and little help .... can improve!

Overall, it was pretty good and very cost effective. Helpful staff.
• Luggage storage room available. Laundry service avail on site (4 bucks for washing machine, 4 bucks for dryer & 2 bucks for washing powder), Ironing service was free of charge.
• Toothbrush & Toothpaste were available upon purchase @ the reception. Hot water, box fan, kettle, small fridge, tea, coffee, sugar, clean towel, soap, shampoo were all avail.
The first two nights I stayed, I had to use a shared bathroom, however, it was very clean. After that I extended my stay where I was moved to another room which included a bathroom.
Also, perfect location as it is situated on the busiest street in the city centre where you'll find a lot of restaurants & shops nearby even supermarkets.
* The down part was that it gets very noisy at night, you could hear the traffic & people on the street screaming. Plus, the mattress wasn't in its best shape.
Located at the top of Queen Street, Mercure Auckland Queen Street embodies the local culture, just moments from the lively Karangahape Road. Great on-site service and facilities including free WIFI, Gym and the NZ famous Lone Star Restaurant and Bar onsite, it offers both comfort and convenience. The hotel's prime location near motorways, Auckland University, hospitals, and entertainment venues like Town Hall, Power Station, and Spark Arena make it an ideal base for both business and leisure travellers.

Nicely appointed rooms, if a little small. Good bathroom space. Wardrobe a little small for two people for a few nights stay. The staff are friendly and accommodating. We had excellent service during our entire stay. Housekeeping staff were lovely and checked each day to see that we had enough coffee, etc. Parking onsite is helpful, if cramped, and does need good driving skills and a small vehicle. It is easy to get to places from here. A short walk to K Road, only 2.5km from New Market (walk, don't use a vehicle). An easy walk to Britomart and even though we did not use the buses this time, on a bus route, with the stop almost outside the door. We would easily stay here again.

GGuest UserThis is an excellent place to stay if you're transiting through Auckland airport. Being an exceptionally easy, 2 minute walk from the international terminal means that you're not having to juggle shuttle buses and whatnot. Staff are friendly and attentive, and the rooms have everything you could need for an overnight stay. The whole place feels fresh and new. Highly recommend.
CCF-KingFast check in process, complete amenities and comfy room. Express check out and enjoyable stay. Small issue with safety deposit box which keeping error status. Anyway concierge help opening it with key. Problem solved.
Reception was kind and giving my kid small squishy toy. Appreciate this small matter.
Hotel location in tourist area and connected to ******, so many people in neughbourhood with choices of restaurant, bar and mini mart that open till late.
GGuest UserMy husband stayed here once by chance and now it has become the place he stays most weeks, Large, clean, quiet rooms, equipped with everything you could need, coffee machine, microwave, big screen tv, the comfiest bed and a huge bathroom with a good shower. But the best thing by far are the staff, from the friendly welcome and attentive service, you couldn’t ask for more, little touches like remembering your names, means a lot…. Have to give a special mention to Pawan, it’s just like a friend greeting you, a genuine friendly welcome back every time, makes you feel like you are home. Thanks Pawan!
GGuest UserTLDR: no aircon, constant power cuts, paper thin walls.. Where do I start. First off there’s no aircon so the rooms are hot and uncomfortable. There are ducted low speed fans which don’t do much. But the biggest problem is the fact the rooms are on what I believe to be motion sensors or some kind of timers so ALL power turns off every 25 seconds, this is not an exaggeration. This includes the lights, jug, the fan - everything. I stubbed my toes in the dark because the lights turned off while I was walking around, and they wouldn’t turn back on. Showering in the dark due the lights constantly on and off. Good luck making a coffee, showering, watching TV or anything without that being interrupted by constant power cuts which drive you mad. I booked the small room. They look small in the photos but even smaller in person and I felt like I was suffocating, the rooms are tiny so heat up like crazy. The smallest hotel room I’ve ever seen. Also the walls are paper thin so I could hear my neighbours conversations word for word.. even with ear plugs. If there was air con and sound proof walls, I could have put up with the extremely small space. Terrible experience. Don’t even bother with this place. The Abstract had a lot of potential as they have decorated it very nicely but they have let themselves down. It is also in a dangerous area of Auckland central so you will want to make sure you are back in your room by dark, lots of drunk homeless people around. After my first night of zero sleep due to the heat, stuffiness and neighbours chatting, I complained and had my room kindly upgraded to a larger one, but the same issues remained of constant power cuts and no air con in that room too. At least it was a bit cooler due to being larger and an extra window, also had no neighbours.. The customer service was pretty good. There is no parking on site so you have to park in a carpark building across the road. The food in the restaurant was average but has a beautiful outdoor dining area which was the highlight.
GGuest UserWe began and ended our stay in New Zealand here. My sister and I had stayed here on our last trip to NZ and had been so comfortable we wanted to do so again. When we arrived in Auckland we were given a nice 2 bedroom suite overlooking the park. I think it must have been a handicapped suite as the bathroom was a wet room, which was a little odd, but we got used to it, otherwise very nice. When we checked in again at the end of our trip, a few days before flying home, we were surprised and delighted to find that we had been upgraded to a 3 bedroom, 2 bath penthouse suite. It was huge, with a great view of downtown Auckland and the Skytower. The rooms are very clean and spacious, the beds comfortable, and the little cafe downstairs quite convenient. Buses for Inner Link stop right outside, and it's about a 15 minute walk downtown. New World supermarket is about 5 minutes away. Tip: if walking downtown, go via Halsey Street down to the harbour, you will avoid the hills.
AAnonymous UserGreat location and service. Stayed in the M Suite which was incredibly spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Would definitely stay here again soon.
GGuest UserTotally disappointed in our two night stay here. This premise also goes under the name 'Auckland Airport Kiwi Hotel' and Auckland Airport Kiwi Backpackers', the Backpackers has now been turned into what is called 'Premier studio apartments'.'. When we arrived the lady at reception stated that she had only debited our card for the first night, we were to pay for our second night when checking out. Our 'Premier Studio Apartment' was clearly an ex backpacker room, our lawn view was 2 mtrs of unmown grass which looked straight into the rooms across from us. The room was clean enough but extremely under equipped. We had booked for 3 people, we had 2 towels, 2 facecloths, no hand towel, no tea towel or dish cloth. After the 3rd ask for these items we finally received two extra facecloths to be used as a tea towel and dishcloth, eww! The kitchen had 1 fork, 1 teaspoon, 3 knives and large spoons, 1 glass, no wine glasses. Odd cups and plates of various sizes. There was a microwave and hotplates but no other utensils at all besides the bits and pieces mentioned. No Ice tray. No coathangers. The bathroom light flickered constantly, there was rubbish under the beds, and on further inspection, the fire alarm did not contain a battery. (illegal) On checking out was told that our account had been settled. Inspection of bank account showed that our 2nd night had been deducted two hours after we had checked in and an extra $4.50 had been taken. Asked on their chat window (which is how we booked our stay due to no one answering the phone, ever) and was emailed back, them stating that this extra cost was due to paying by Visa. No mention of this throughout our booking or on their website. Would not stay here again.
This property has much to offer but let's themselves down on the smaller details. Rooms were huge and well appointed, quiet, great off street parking and extremely comfortable. However many items were not overly clean, outdoor area littered, window sills, oven, microwave, fridge and crockery/cutlery needed attention. Before daring to eat off crockery or drink from glasses (that were filthy) we had to clean, they were unhygienic. Oven had leftovers on the base, microwave had splatter from previous guests and fridge was not clean. Given COVID I would have expected a much higher level of cleaning however they have obviously relied on previous guests to clean sufficiently, this was not the case. However when we addressed with cleaning staff they were lovely and accommodating and cleaned window sills. We arrived at 1700hrs we had anticipated an earlier arrival but due to flight delays we were a few hours later (reception open until 1900hrs so we were not concerned) however was closed. We called the number on the door and were given a lockbox number, keys retrieved to room but they had not been allocated and we could not access. Thankfully another couple had already called reception and they were en-route so this problem was solved quickly. Also staff advised that we had been inadvertently charged twice and refund was in process however 7 days later no refund for over-charge has been processed. This is a great property, cleaning ladies were lovely but Management just need to get the basics right. Reception should be available as stated, rooms and amenities should be cleaned and outdoor areas need attention. I would stay here again and I can recommend but please Management address the issues we have raised. This will elevate your property rating considerably with little effort. I would have liked to address these issues directly with Management however as we were busy and office often closed, we did not have the opportunity to address directly when we were in residence.
封封印之夕Family room with good value for money, surrounded by shopping malls and supermarkets, is very convenient. There is a bus stop and a train station at the door, and the traffic is convenient. Slightly far from the city.
