Thon Hotel Alta
"How is it possible to not have black-out curtains in a place that you know the sun it's out on the sky non-stop."
Canyon Hotell
"Great serves and wonderful staff. Booked a room for a friend's bachelorets party, she loved it. The room were spacious and the bed was soft. The restaurant had amazing food, the staf was so nice and made shure we had everythingwe needed. We had an amazing evening. We felt they went above and beyond every step of the way."
Sorrisniva Arctic Wilderness Lodge
"We stayed one night in the ice hotel, did the ice sculpting activity during the day of our stay, and had the tasting menu for dinner. The staff was fantastic and really friendly - shoutout to Ida at the front desk, Philip and Romain, as well as Nathan, Magnus, and Maria in the restaurant. We went in the middle of the week during the winter and it was very quiet. We spent time in the main lobby and in the “living room” with the fireplace since you don’t have access to your room in the ice hotel until 8pm. There wasn’t much to do outside of the planned activities and the main lobby is very quiet- you couldn’t really hear the music they had playing. We went for the tasting menu for dinner with the wine pairing. Magnus’s wine pairings were very good and the pours were generous but overall the food didn’t match the price. The ice hotel was a cool experience and we slept well. We enjoyed the sauna that was included the next day. The included buffet breakfast was very good. We borrowed snowshoes and used them on the trails around the property which was great too as the trails are well-marked and maintained. Overall, don’t go halfway: if you’re interested in staying at the ice hotel, spend the extra money to add on the activities or make sure you’re out in nature, or plan to arrive later in the evening. Otherwise you might find yourself sitting around a lot."
Flatmoen Natur Lodge
"Great location to view the northern lights as long as there are clear skies! Services are not the best as they don’t really have restaurant that you can just step in to eat. A rental car will be great to move from places to places to eat and explore."
Gargia Lodge
"Very beautiful place and nature surrounding😍. Rooms are very nice, clean and big enough. Breakfast and dinner are excellent👌 Staff are so friendly and helpful🥰. Sauna 👍and funny water challenge is waiting for you as well! 😁 5*****+++ place!"
Scandic Alta
"Helpful staff, a room with the great view"
Canyon Hotell
"The Canyon Hotel in Alta, the small city, although I stayed here for one night, I was very impressed. There are particularly beautiful scenery and memories. This time I came to experience the polar day and hope to see the aurora next time. Thanks for the facilities and services of the Canyon Hotel."
Onga Lodge
Bjørnfjell Mountain Lodge
"My wife and I enjoyed our the stay at Björnfjell Mountain Lodge in January. We came to view the Northern Lights, which we saw one night from the outdoor hot tub. We enjoyed Cabin #3 and multiple Wellness Experiences at the spa (hot tub and sauna). There were plenty of hooks in the cabin for hanging things. There was also a kitchenette, which we did not use. We were surprised that the Lodge was beside a ski run which had outdoor lights on the afternoon; fortunately there were turned off about 6 pm, so they didn’t interfere with trying to view the night sky. If one’s goal was to see the Northern Lights from the outdoor hot tub at the Lodge, you had to hope they would be directly overhead. The view from the hot tub was very constrained by nearby trees. Fortunately we did see the Aurora overhead one evening (it was too cloudy the other two evenings during our stay). In hindsight, I’m not sure the Björnfjell is a great place for viewing the Northern Lights, unless you’re on top of the mountain with clear skies. The staff at the Björnfjell Mountain Lodge was great. They were friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed the meals there, including the reindeer stew. It was great having choices on the dinner menu. Wines were reasonably priced. My wife and I enjoyed a snowshoe hike with a local insider, lunch in a lavvo, and a bonfire dinner (but no stargazing because of the cloudy skies). We loved the Polar Night Bonfire which was indoors at the top of the mountain above the Lodge. It was fun cooking the food in the “fireplace”. The meal was delicious. We brought wine from the Lodge with us. Unfortunately we couldn’t take advantage of the telescope for stargazing, because it was cloudy outside. I loved the Lodge's emphasis on sustainability. The uneaten food is consumed by the resident sheep, who can be visited. Check with the kitchen if you want to bring food."
