Relax Inn

First the positives: the location is very beautiful, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean, and the staff are friendly. I was able to order dinner at the restaurant which was tasty. The location is also safe. Cons: this BnB serves as a wedding venue (which is exquisite); however, the BnB should not allow private individuals to book a room if there is a wedding going on. I chose this BnB to be close to the airport but didn’t get a wink of sleep as the wedding party carried on into the early hours and the rooms were not soundproof at all. I especially booked this BnB as it advertised that it had an airport shuttle. However, I was disappointed to learn that actually the BnB itself does not do this - they call a shuttle service which charges a ridiculous R600 for a 20 minute ride to the airport!

Tala Collection Game Reserve, by Dream Resorts
4.1/54 Reviews
Thoroughly enjoyed our immersive two day visit to Tala which clearly has an abundance of game. It was only on arrival that we discovered the properties have no facilities for self catering. However the staff were always helpful and responsive to our food and hospitality requests. And we got to experience their marvellous fillet steak! The main tracks around the reserve are mostly fine for normal road cars but the side tracks can be challenging for even a full-size SUV, as we discovered. Puddles can be deep! So great care needs to be taken if you are navigating with the mud map provided. The great thing about Tala is that it is a world away, but conveniently close, to the city. The lack of fridge or air con is a pity and load shedding doesn’t help. But the sights and sounds of the bush are ample compensation. Early morning produced exciting visits from monkeys and buck. Even a fully grown giraffe called by making our last morning especially memorable.

Umhlanga Rocks
Amazing property with beautiful views and lovely staff: I was in the penthouse, a spacious, well-designed room with a fabulous bathroom (huge bath, great walk-in shower) and very nice toiletries. The kingsize bed was excellent and I slept very well home away from home. The owner, Snezana and her staff are lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was delicious including fresh fruits, yoghurts, bread, Danishes, fresh eggs anyway you like and even homemade pancakes! It was also entertaining one morning when a monkey managed to grab the last lekkere pancake when I had moved away from my table and was not looking. It is a quiet, peaceful area. Shopping centres not too far away and from Durban City you are already halfway to the airport. I will definitely return when I'm back in Durban.

As a couple who have travelled extensively in beautiful South Africa, and having had the privilege to stay in some of the countries best rated couples retreats and accommodation, we can honestly recommend Albion as the best Durban has to offer if you are looking for a friendly environment, good service and just the perfect position , close to all the best restaurants and night life Durban has to offer. Having stayed at Albion for the fifth time now, I am suitably impressed by the consistent excellent service and cleanliness and comfort of their accommodation.
