Outside the long pavilion, beside the ancient road, lush green grass stretches to the horizon... a familiar melody.

After living in Tianjin for 15 years, I return to it as a tourist destination.

Li Shutong, born in Tianjin (October 23, 1880 - October 13, 1942), originally named Wentao, courtesy name Shutong, and pseudonym Hongyi, was a renowned artist, educator, and Buddhist monk in modern China.

Li Shutong possessed remarkable accomplishments in painting, music, drama, calligraphy, and seal carving. He was also a pioneer of Chinese drama and one of the first to introduce Western music to China. His musical work, &quot;Farewell,&quot; is still widely sung today.

In 1918, Li Shutong became a monk at Hupao Temple in Hangzhou, earning the title &quot;Master Hongyi.&quot; He passed away in Quanzhou, Fujian, in 1942 at the age of 61.

Tianjin was Li Shutong&#39;s birthplace. He came from a prominent family. His father, a successful Jinshi (imperial jinshi) scholar in the Qing Dynasty, served as an official and was a classmate of Li Hongzhang. After resigning from his official position, he returned to Tianjin and became a salt merchant. Li Shutong&#39;s father, Li Shizhen, briefly became the richest man in Tianjin. (Note: The ancestors of the Tianjin porcelain family were also salt merchants. The owner of the Shi Family Compound was involved in the grain transport business, demonstrating that salt merchants and grain transport were major economic pillars of Tianjin during that period.) Li Shutong received a good education from a young age and married the daughter of a Tianjin tea merchant, expanding the family business.

After studying the families of Lu Xun and Qiu Jin in Shaoxing, and then moving on to Li Shutong and Liang Sicheng in Tianjin, I lamented the popular topic of a few years ago: &quot;It&#39;s hard for humble families to produce noble sons.&quot; While there are certainly self-taught individuals, many more require the support of their families.

I&#39;ve been twice, and nothing much has changed. Things are getting more expensive, but the quality is getting worse. It&#39;s incredibly crowded, especially during peak season. The stunt show is good. The aircraft carrier show is just so-so, not as good as I expected.

Standing on the Tianjin Eye Ferris wheel, as the cabin slowly rises, the dazzling night view of the entire city gradually unfolds. The Haihe River meanders like a ribbon, with lights and shimmering water reflecting each other, creating a breathtakingly romantic scene. It is a must-visit landmark in Tianjin!

The National Maritime Museum is definitely worth a visit! We listened to the explanation, but some things were still unfamiliar to the child, and he said he couldn&#39;t understand them a bit. So we let him watch a 4D movie for an extra 15 minutes! I asked him if this format with both visuals and explanations was better, and he said that the explanation was more in line with his understanding.

I&#39;d call it the Tianjin branch of Jingdezhen. Personally, I recommend it if it&#39;s your first time visiting; it&#39;s quite unique.

Status: The world&#39;s only &quot;porcelain building,&quot; a miracle of architectural history.

If you don&#39;t want to go inside, you can take a panoramic photo of the Porcelain House from across the street, but it gets quite crowded.

Inside, some angles give it a Thai feel; it&#39;s quite beautiful!

Overall, highly recommended!

You can also visit the surrounding area along Binjiang Road Pedestrian Street.

Commander Zhang's Mansion

It served as Zhang Xueliang&#39;s &quot;temporary palace&quot; in Tianjin. While it might not have been as grand as the residences of some of Tianjin&#39;s powerful figures during the Republic of China era, it was fully equipped and an important place for the young marshal to rest and receive guests.
