Ma Yansong: Architecture and Emotion opens on May 16, 2025 at the Nieuwe Instituut, a national museum in the Netherlands dedicated to studying architecture, design and digital culture and exploring the potential power of new ideas.
The exhibition is anchored by several iconic nodes in MAD's architectural practice and research, and has the following seven chapters:
- MAD In China;
- Absolute Towers;
- Shanshui City;
- Embodied Nature;
- Layered Futures;
- Connective Landscapes;
- MAD People.
The exhibition will run until October 12, 2025.

Sometimes out of idealism, often out of pure necessity, alternative design strategies were developed in the pursuit of an equal society. Designers, researchers and curators select and (re)interpret pieces from heritage collections and archives in order to tell an assortment of stories about a century of social design.

【Markthal Arcade Market】 is located in Lawrence Square in the center of Rotterdam. It is special because it is the world&#39;s first building that combines a market and a residence, making it a new landmark in Rotterdam. Markthal is known as the modern version of the Sistine Chapel. The inner arch is printed with a large mural called &quot;Harvest Corner&quot;, which is the largest artwork in the Netherlands. Under this arched structure, there are more than 80 shops selling fresh food. The arched roof can accommodate 228 apartments and even 1,200 parking spaces. Each apartment has a wide view. You can see the Maas River or Lawrence Church from the outside, and you can see the dynamics of the market through windows or glass floors from the inside, without being affected by market noise or smell.

Boijmans Van Beuningen is a versatile and idiosyncratic museum. The museum was founded by and for Rotterdam residents, and has been situated in the heart of Rotterdam since 1849. Just like the city itself, Boijmans stands for extraordinary experiences. The current collection consists of more than 151,000 objects, including masterpieces by artists ranging from Hieronymus Bosch, Pieter Bruegel, Jan van Eyck and Rembrandt to Dal&iacute;, Kees van Dongen, Edvard Munch and Charley Toorop. Boijmans also prominently features the installations of contemporary artists, such as Yayoi Kusama&rsquo;s mirror room. The breadth of the collection originated in the passions of private collectors. The museum owes its name to two seminal collectors: Frans Boijmans and Dani&euml;l George van Beuningen. The museum has been closed since late May 2019 for a major renovation and renewal, for which Mecanoo architects were selected to produce the design
