Introduction to Bread | Lekito
Jun 21, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Milton Keynes
100% 5-Star reviews on Trustpilot.
In the one day class we start with an introduction to the basic ingredients, dive into what makes bread work and share some knowledge about dough. Then, we will begin working to produce a variety of breads. You will be introduced to mixing techniques and shown a couple of different approaches to developing the dough to make it useable. We will make several different doughs during the class and bake a great selection to take home.
Learning to bake your own bread is fun and rewarding experience. It's a life skill and one that you can share with friends and family forever. Real bread is healthy and tasty and a million miles from the so-called bread you get in most supermarkets.

Milton Keynes
My Soul is Fed with Needle and Thread
Gather Up: An Intermediate Sewing Day
Join us for a special day dedicated to upcycling vintage tablecloths and embracing sustainable creativity. This workshop is designed for those confident in using their sewing machine who want to explore new techniques and create something truly unique. If you've previously completed a beginners' class with me, this is the perfect next step. Unsure if this class is right for you? Please feel free to get in touch.
Who is this day for?
This workshop is ideal for confident sewing machine users looking to expand their skills. Whether you're new to upcycling or simply seeking a creative and mindful experience, this class will guide you in transforming vintage tablecloths into beautiful garments.
Workshop Details
This 5-hour workshop (including a 30-minute lunch break and time for setup and clearing away) will take place at Westbury Arts Centre, where there's plenty of space to learn and create. Expect a relaxed, informal environment focused on enjoyment and creativity — leave perfectionism at the door and embrace the fun of making!
With over 35 years of sewing experience, Steph will guide you through each step of the process. Her passion for sewing and creativity shines through, making this an inspiring and supportive experience for all.
Important Information
You will need to bring your own vintage tablecloths and be prepared to cut them up. Choose clean, stain-free tablecloths (though minor stains can sometimes be worked around) and bring a selection that you think will complement each other.
What will I make?
During the workshop, you'll create a loose, kimono-style top with a front opening — perfect for showcasing the beautiful patterns of vintage tablecloths.
What to Bring:
A selection of vintage tablecloths (clean and stain-free)
Pen and pencil
Notebook
Hand sewing needles and pins
Thread that matches your tablecloths
Sharp scissors — ideally one small pair and one large pair for cutting fabric
Refreshments
Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day. Please bring a packed lunch, as there are no nearby food options available.
Parking
Free parking is available at Westbury Arts Centre.
We look forward to welcoming you for a joyful day of stitching, creativity, and connection!
Testimonials
"I am attending the beginners learn to sew with a machine class that Steph runs. It is fantastic and I highly recommend it. After three weeks of this class, I am able to sew a drawstring bag, a reversible tote bag and a cushion cover with button fastening. I never thought I would be able to do that! After three years of school needlework lessons, I couldn't make anything!! Steph breaks everything down into simple steps and is so relaxed and patient that even a complete beginner like me can do it! I can't wait for the next lesson".
Diane
"Steph is a great teacher, she gives you lots of practical and hands on activities where you actually produce something creative at the end of it! Through her sewing classes she has really inspired me to learn more. Steph’s own designs are fun, colourful and modern, sometimes thought provoking. She likes to move with the times, but her designs remain true to her style".

An Evening with S G Bell - Milton Keynes | Midsummer Place
Jun 24, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Milton Keynes
Join us on Tuesday 24th June at 7pm as we welcome novelist S G Bell to Waterstones Milton Keynes to talk about his new novel, Baptised and Newly Born, which is partly set in Milton Keynes! This book is part of the popular AI Aftermath series, and follows on from the first book, The Epilogue Event.
A decade after the Cynosure, Zoe Sinclair is still trying to ignore the end of the world. For ten years, everything has been slowly falling apart; people continue to disappear, and no one seems to know where, until they begin to reappear as the terrifying Baptised.
Zoe needs to get away — it’s something she is good at — but to outrun the tide of impending catastrophe will take every bit of her creativity, imagination, and callous disregard for those she cares about. From Milton Keynes to the devastated city of London, Zoe runs while the creatures of the plague relentlessly pursue her. Can she uncover the secret of the Newly Born? And what will she do when she finally has nowhere left to go?
It looks like her future may no longer be in her hands, but can the ragtag group of acquaintances she has loved and lost save her from death or a hideous transformation?Tickets cost £5.00 and are available to purchase at the link. There is also a book and ticket option, where you can purchase Baptised and Newly Born in advance and receive a £3.00 discount on the RRP (book to be collected at the event.) Both books will also be available to purchase at full price on the night, and S G Bell will be staying after the talk to sign and dedicate copies.
We look forward to seeing you there.

With all the technologies available to us, what should we be using and how is a regular question we face. In this event we set out to answer three questions:
1. What does the passenger need and want from public transport information?
2. What can we learn from the recent research and implementations about what and how we should be deploying information?
3. What are the latest developments and capabilities for website, app and physical displays and technologies?

Summer Sit and Sew - One Day Workshop | Westbury Arts Centre
Jun 28, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Milton Keynes
“My soul is fed with needle and thread”
Who is this day for?
This day is for those who've either attended one of my classes before or are already able to sew but would like the space, company and guidance throughout the day.
Details
This is not a structured event, I will not run a lesson, but it gives you the opportunity to take time out in a big space to get on with your sewing, pick my brain and chat with like-minded people. If you have attended one of my classes before but need a reminder on how to do something, come along, I will help you figure it out or give you a recap.
Please Note: This is for beginners or intermediate sewist. I do not cover tailoring or very complex sewing and dressmaking. Please message me if you are unsure what to bring.
What will I make during the day?
This is a freestyle day where you make what you want. I will be on hand to advise, and I will bring a few kits if you're unsure what you want to do. It's unlike my usual class, where we all make something together, but rather a social space to give yourself time to make and do. No materials are provided although I will bring some bits and pieces if you just want to turn up and sew.
Please bring to class:
Sewing machine
Your basic sewing kit.
Thread.
The project/s you are going to work on.
Refreshments
Tea and coffee is provided. There is nowhere nearby to get lunch so please bring a packed lunch with you.
Parking
There is free parking at Westbury.

Intermediate - Learning how to sew with stretch fabric - One Day Workshop | Westbury Arts Centre
Jul 12, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Milton Keynes
“My soul is fed with needle and thread”
This is an intermediate sewing day for those who want further their skills. The day focuses on using stretch fabrics & you make two items, a twisted head band and an infinity scarf.
Who is this day for?
This day is for those who are confident using their sewing machine but would like to explore working with stretch fabrics. You may have completed Beginners with me previously or have some experience, however, if you are usure whether you are skilled enough for this class, please contact me.
Details
The 5-hour day (half an hour is allowed for lunch and a bit of time either end of the day for set up and clear up) is held in a room in Westbury Arts Cemtre where we will have plenty of space to learn and make. This workshop is all about immersing yourself in the joy of creativity, ditching perfectionism and embracing the fun of creating. Steph has over 35 years of experience with sewing and making things and is keen to share her love of making and creating, so please join her for the chance to learn, make and grow.
What will I make during the day?
You will explore sewing with stretch fabric and become confident when sewing with stretch before moving onto the makes.
You will make a twisted head band suitable to wear anytime. Head bands are great for the beach, jazzing up an outfit or they are a practical way to keep your hair off your face when you apply make up. If headbands aren't your thing I will bring sizing options so you can make a haedband for a baby or child instead.
You will make an infinity scarf which you can customise to suit your style
Please bring to class:
Sewing machine
Pen and pencil.
If you have a ballpoint sewing machine needle, please bring it as it may be helpful. If you don't have one don't worry as an ordinary sewing machine needle will usually work fine and i carry spares if you need one.
Notebook.
