Screen printing inductions for the Print Club at The Old Waterworks. Learn the basics of screen printing and join our print club. Location: The Old Waterworks, North Road, Westcliff on Sea, SS0 7AB Screen printing returns to TOW with the launch of Print Club hosted by Sugar Storm Studio. This is an opportunity to continue or develop your screen printing practice using our print facilities or start a new hobby with the guidance and advice of a professional screen printer. Print Club is a monthly printing session in the print room at The Old Waterworks, open to all regardless of experience level. Once you have completed an induction into our space and the screen printing process you can book onto any of our print club sessions. Charlotte from Sugar Storm Studio is a professional screen printer with a specialism in working with printing digital illustration on clothing. She will be leading the inductions and be on hand for guidance and advice on all print club sessions. Recommended age: 14+ Inductions During the inductions we will cover: The equipment and materials available at TOWHow to coat and expose a screen (bring your own design or use one of ours)The basics of screen printing: creating a one-colour A4 print on paper or cardIf you’d like to print your own design, please bring a digital image on a USB stick. We will cover what makes a suitable image, how to prepare the image and print onto acetate ready to expose the screen. The best images to use have bold lines and high contrast, such as text or digital illustration - photographs won’t be used in this session. If you don’t have a suitable image to use, we have lots of pre-prepared designs for you to choose from. Print Club: After your induction session, you’ll be able to attend any of our print club sessions to work on your own screen printing projects and explore the many possibilities of screen printing, including printing on fabric or clothing, multi-colour prints, or creating screens from fine-detail drawings or photographs. There are limitless possibilities with screen printing and some of them will take a bit of practice, but your induction will give you all the information you need to get started on your own personal screen printing journey.
