Immerse yourself in the history of Springfield by visiting locations and meeting people who embody the perseverance, ingenuity, and resilience of some of the city's early residents. The Underground Railroad, a network of many people and places, played a significant role in Springfield's history, making it a destination for freedom seekers and activists like Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, and John Brown. This walking tour departs from the Tower Square at 10:30am and ends at 12pm. The tour is $5 for Springfield Preservation Trust, Springfield Museums & PAHMUSA members, and $10 for non-members, payable in advance on Eventbrite or at the tour's outset. The Second Saturday Tours series explores historic Springfield and is co-presented by the Springfield Preservation Trust and Springfield Museums and is generously sponsored by the Springfield Cultural Council and Mass Cultural Council. Images on flier are just an idea of things we may create. We have so many ideas and options not sure what we will do or where our imagination will take us on our creative journey during the week. This weeks camp theme is FABRICS & TEXTURES. We will be doing projects that allow them to explore their own imaginations as create an art project with a variety of textiles. Tie-dying, yarn art, creating their own designed shirt and more. Kids will also have time to play some games and have a snack. Camp is from 12:30-4:30 Mon-Fri Ages 1st grade-6th grade B 's Creative Studio 1333 Wabash Ave, Suite B, Springfield IL 62704 Price = $225.00 for the week come in and pay cash to avoid processing fees. Back for the summer of 2024, we are excited to announce Coding Camp just for rising 2nd-4th graders! The goal of Coding Camp is to give ALL students the chance to get involved in and experience Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and inspire future engineers to learn about coding and robotics through fun hands-on activities. Tuition includes all materials for 5 action packed days of programs! Lunch is not provided. Each student will have a dedicated laptop and robots for the week! Activities include learning the basics of coding with Scratch, building a video game they can access from home, getting creative with code by making fun projects like building and coding a keyboard with bananas, and getting hands on with robots!
