Spend your 4th of July (10AM to 5PM) in the Bay's best location for the day with music, food & drinks, tours, and more! Please join the USS Hornet as we celebrate Independence Day with a big Steel Beach BBQ on the Flight Deck with music, food and beverages! The Flight Deck will be converted into a Steel Beach BBQ Party! We will have music playing, food and drinks to purchase, tables and chairs, free tours of the Island (normally a $12 charge!), some games for you to play and in the afternoon, a Flyover by the Memorial Squadron! In the Hangar Bay , all the normally accessible areas of the ship will be available for self-touring. You can see the rest of our aircraft and Apollo program artifacts (including our Apollo Block 1 capsule, the Mobile Quarantine Facility and the SeaKing helicopter used in the filming of Apollo 13), and our newest acquisition: An F/A-18C! On the 2nd Deck you can visit the Torpedo Workshop, Sick Bay, Officer’s Wardroom, exhibits such as African-Americans in the Military, Women in the Military, Air Group 11 and many more! On the Pier we will have a collection of Military Vehicles that will come over after the 4th of July Parade!
