Belfast - Building Confidence in Anaesthesia with Veterinary Anursethesia | Europa Hotel
Jul 2, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Belfast
Building Confidence in Anaesthesia with Veterinary Anursethesia
Understanding the fundamentals of anaesthesia monitoring will not only boost your confidence, but will also serve as a foundation for future skills and concepts.
Monitoring your patients' physiological parameters is similar to putting puzzle pieces together; it is critical to understand how they all fit together to form a bigger picture so that any abnormalities can be identified and troubleshooted. Because many diseases, anaesthetic drugs, and surgical procedures have different effects on our patients, no two anaesthetics will be the same.
This day will provide you with a thorough understanding of how to monitor your patient throughout their entire anaesthesia experience, whether you are newly qualified, returning to work, or simply looking to improve your knowledge.
Over the day, we will cover:
The P doesn’t mean Panic:
Easy ECGS
Deep breath:
Capnography made Easy
Say ah:
Airways and Breathing Systems
Anaesthetic drugs:
Patient Effects
Squeeze!
Blood Pressure Monitoring
Wake me up before you go-go:
Recovery
All delegates will receive a printed booklet of comprehensive notes and the PowerPoints for the day.
Join us on Wednesday, 2nd July 2025, at Europa Hotel BT2 7AP. The day starts at 9.30am and runs until 5.30pm.
Breakfast (pain au chocolate, croissant, pecan and maple lattice, with tea and coffee) is provided, as well as smoothies for morning tea, finger buffet lunch, and then tea and coffee in the afternoon.
Your Speaker:
Courtney Scales DipVN NCert(Anaesth) PgCertVAA RVN
Courtney is originally from New Zealand, where she trained and qualified. She began her career in veterinary nursing in 2007 and worked in multiple clinics in New Zealand before moving to Australia in 2015 to pursue her passion for anaesthesia.
In 2016, she moved to the United Kingdom, where she most recently worked as an Anaesthesia Registered Veterinary Nurse at the Royal Veterinary College and also as a Clinical Educator in Anaesthesia for Burtons Academy. Courtney now works for Davies Veterinary Specialists.
Courtney started Veterinary A
nurse
thesia on various social media platforms throughout her studies and career to share anaesthesia tips with the veterinary community. Whiskey Club with Teeling | Angel And Two Bibles
Jul 2, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Belfast
Once upon a time, Irish monks, or some would say Saint Patrick himself, invented an elixir which was held in such reverence that it merited the name ‘usice beatha’ – nothing less than the water of life.
The truth, while a lot less fanciful, is a lot more interesting. For a start, we know that the Irish didn’t invent whiskey – neither did the Scots, but the Irish perfected it!
Join us on the first Wednesday of every month, where you'll get to taste four whiskeys and hear the story of the guest distillery’s colourful history.
Hosted in our rooftop venue Angel And Two Bibles, each month we will have a special guest from some of the island's best known and some not so well distilleries.
£20 per ticket |
Includes 4 whiskeys and nibbles after event.

Belfast Music Walking Tour - PLUS Performance | Walking tour starts from:
Jul 5, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Belfast
Come discover what a vibrant music city Belfast is with a specialist and passionate music guide! Enjoy stories about our musicians, listen to their music and visit cool venues. To round out the afternoon, after browsing the display cases, memorabilia and info in the NI Music Exhibition at the Oh Yeah Music Centre, you'll settle down to enjoy a private set for the tour group by a talented, rising star on the City's music scene.
Take this popular tour around Belfast city centre, delivered in association with the Oh Yeah Music Centre, to discover why Belfast deserves its prestigious UNESCO City of Music designation.
There is a wealth of music talent in Belfast, across many genres - from hip hop to classical, jazz and punk - opera to folk, country and electro pop - and more! The music scene in Belfast is buzzing, with festivals galore throughout the year, making it a cool city to live in or visit.
On a leisurely, music-filled stroll, your guide will introduce you to many of the city’s best-known bands and musicians, past and present - our 'legends' - accompanied by a soundtrack of their music. You will also hear about Belfast’s rich musical heritage, traditions and roots.
The tour begins at the iconic Ulster Hall, a well-preserved Victorian music hall and a favourite venue down the history of Belfast's entertainment scene. Weaving through the city’s oldest and cobbled streets, open squares and busy shopping areas, the tour then explores other music venues including traditional bars and clubs, historic buildings, open air performance spaces, the city's newest performance space, our main arena venues - and even a church! Guests will gain access to one or two places they likely wouldn’t otherwise know about. At each stop, a different genre of music will be considered.
Guests will encounter at first hand Belfast's 'craic' and hear many entertaining stories about iconic music moments and our best-known musicians and bands - from Ruby Murray to David Holmes and loads inbetween. There’ll also be recommendations for rising stars of our contemporary music scene to keep an eye on! Plus tils on gigs on in the city during your stay.
The tour concludes with a visit to Belfast’s own dedicated music hub, the Oh Yeah Music Centre, in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter. Here, there’ll be a chance to browse the centre’s Music Exhibition, which features memorabilia from Northern Ireland musicians including Snow Patrol, Van Morrison and Stiff Little Fingers. Then it's time to settle down for a half-hour exclusive set by a talented, local musician.

Virtu Kettlebell Club Summer Pentathlon 2025 | No Limits Fitness and Strength
Jul 5, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Belfast
Virtu Kettlebell Club proudly launches our 3rd Summer Kettlebell Pentathlon Competition.
This event is open to competitors of ALL LEVELS.
From the beginner looking to make their competitive debut and to get experience on the platform - to the international level kettlebell athlete who is wanting to hit a new personal record in preparation for the kettlebell season.
We will be offering each competitor the choice of 2 events;
1. Full Pentathlon (6mins on / 5mins recovery).
2. Half Pentathlon (3mins on / 2mins recovery).
_____________________________________________
What is the Kettlebell Pentathlon?
Here are the basic mechanics of it. There are 5 disciplines performed in a set order.
The 5 disciplines are:
Clean.
Clean & Press.
Jerk.
Half Snatch.
Push Press.
There is a maximum repetition count for each discipline.
(No additional points are scored for reps over the preset maximum).
For the “Full Pentathlon”, the maximum rep counts are as follows:
Clean = 120 reps.
Clean & Press = 60 reps.
Jerk = 120 reps.
Half Snatch = 108 reps
Push Press = 120 reps.
(Each discipline is carried out for 6 minutes, there is a 5 minute break between each discipline).
For the “Half Pentathlon”, the maximum rep counts are as follows:
Clean = 60 reps.
Clean & Press = 30 reps.
Jerk = 60 reps.
Half Snatch = 54 reps.
Push Press = 60 reps.
(Each discipline is carried out for 3 minutes, there is a 2 minute break between each discipline).
Each competitor is allowed to choose a maximum of 5 different kettlebell weights. These kettlebells can be used for whatever discipline they choose. No changing of the weight is allowed once the competitor starts that particular discipline. No setting the kettlebell down until the full 6mins or 3mins are up. If the kettlebell is set down while there is time left on the clock, your set will end, your reps up to that point will count. If the competitor completes maximum reps while still having time left on the clock, the kettlebell must be set down.
Please note - This is an unofficially ranked competition.
There will be no weight categories and there will not be any official placings for 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

Belfast #1798 UnitedIrishmen Walking Tour. #Radicals #Enlightenemnt | Parish Church Of St George
Jul 5, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Belfast
"Equality - It is new-strung and shall be heard"
Join public historians Sean Napier & Colm Dore on their epic 1798 journey through Belfasts hidden and illustrious past.
Its inspiration was a young Dublin Barrister, Theobald Wolfe Tone, who was invited to Belfast by Presbyterian radical republicans after publishing a pamphlet titled 'An Argument on Behalf of the Catholics of Ireland'
In Belfast, Tone, Henry Joy McCracken, Thomas Russell and Samuel Neilson drafted the three resolutions of the United Irishmen that were to guide republicans for the next two centuries.
The political thinking of Tone and his associates was strongly influenced by the democratic principles of the French revolutionary ideals of “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity” and it was natural that they should turn to France for help.
Belfast was known as "The Athens of The North" due to its radical thinking on 'enlightnement ideas'
Its newspaper 'The Northern Star' would become the most popular across Ireland espousing these ideas. Thomas Paine's, 'The Rights of Man' was described as the 'Koran of Belfast'...what a time to alive in 1790's Belfast!
Revolution was in the air!
