Shut Up and Eat: A (Partly!) Silent Dinner Party in Brooklyn | Park Slope (location in email)
Apr 17, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Brooklyn
Shut Up and Eat! is a potluck dinner with a twist: we'll spend the first half of the dinner in mindful silence.
Mindful eating is a lot of fun, and it infuses the experience of eating with a richness that we're often moving too fast to catch. We'll provide simple instructions before dinner.
After about 30 minutes in silence, we'll switch to normal dinner party mode for the rest of the evening - chatting, music, making merry, etc.
Come shut your pie hole (for talking) and then open your pie hole (for pie)!
DETAILS:
We are based in Park Slope, Brooklyn. The address will be in the ticket email.
This is free - we just ask that you bring some food, as it's a potluck.
Doors open at 7:30 PM and close promptly at 8 once dinner begins.
Make sure to arrive by 8 PM sharp or you won't be able to get in :(
Feel free to bring guests! Just make sure to grab (free) tickets for them too so we have an accurate headcount.

Pop Up Line Dance Boot Camp | Jalopy Theatre and School of Music
Apr 19, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Brooklyn
Accelerate your skills with an opportunity to learn and
practice
5 popular dances ranging from beginner to improver and intermediate levels. This class is for anyone who is just discovering Line Dance as an great way to sweat it out, have fun, meet new people, and dance more often! There are lots of weekly Line events around the city where you can take what you've learned here and find it easier to learn new dances as you go. After two years of specializing in beginner instruction at various public and private events, I've honed in on which teaching techniques work best in building confidence and making the challenge of memorizing new choreography easier :) Both classes will begin with a warm up and an introduction to the most common/ often used line dance steps before we dive into learning choreography.
There are two stand alone day-camps available with 10 different dances taught over the course of the 2 events. Each dance will be broken down step by step with time to practice built into each lesson. The final half-hour of the class will be to review and dance it out under some disco lights.
*At 12:30pm there will be a 1/2 hour break...Bring your own lunch and water to stay hydrated and energized!
WHAT TO WEAR: Workout clothes and layers you can remove. Cowboy Boots! Preferably Leather soled boots or shoes work best for being able to slide, pivot, stomp, tap, turn, etc.
WHAT TO BRING: Water and/or Gatorade, A packed Lunch/ Snack if you want to eat during the break, a towel or bandana for sweat!
