Scorching-hot summer. Scorching-hot chemistry. Two teens can’t forget they’re
just friends
in this sweet, funny, electrifying romance from
New York Times
bestselling author Tia Williams. Perfect for fans of Jenny Han and Nicola Yoon.
MEET AUDRE. Junior class president. Debate team captain. Unofficial student therapist.
Desperately
in need of a good time.
MEET BASH. Mysterious new senior. Everybody’s crush. Tall, floppy, great taste in jewelry.
King
of having a good time.
It’s the last day of school at Cheshire Prep, Brooklyn’s elite academy—and Audre Mercy-Moore’s life is a mess. Her dad cancelled her annual summer visit to his Malibu beach house. Now? She’s stuck in a claustrophobic apartment with her mom, stepdad, and one-year-old sister (aka the Goblin Baby).
Under these conditions, she’ll never finish writing her self-help book—ie, the key to winning over Stanford’s admissions board.
Cut to Bash Henry! Audre hires him to be her “fun consultant.” His job? To help her complete the Experience Challenge—her list of five wild dares designed to give her juicy book material. She’ll get inspo; he’ll get paid. Everybody wins.
He isn’t boyfriend material. And she’s not looking for one. Can they stay professional despite their obvious connection?
Tia Williams
had a fifteen-year career as a beauty editor for magazines including
Elle, Glamour, Teen People,
and
Essence
. She’s the author of
The Accidental Diva,
the
It Chicks
series, and
The Perfect Find
—now a Netflix film starring Gabrielle Union. Her novel,
Seven Days in June
, was an instant New York Times bestseller; and the June 2021 Reese’s Book Club pick. A TV series adaptation is in development with Will Packer Productions. Her NAACP Image Award-nominated bestseller,
A Love Song for Ricki Wilde,
was named one of 2024’s best romances by the New York Times and Amazon. Her YA romcom,
Audre & Bash are Just Friends,
releases in May 2025. Tia lives with her daughter, son, and husband in Brooklyn.
Adriana Herrera
was born and raised in the Caribbean, but for the last fifteen years has let her job (and her spouse) take her all over the world. She loves writing stories about people who look and sound like her people, getting unapologetic happy endings. Her
Dreamers
series has received starred reviews from Publisher’s Weekly and Booklist and has been featured in The TODAY Show on NBC, Entertainment Weekly, OPRAH Magazine, NPR, Library Journal, The New York Times, and The Washington Post. She’s a trauma therapist in New York City, working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

by Megan Murphy
Book Hoes Book Club Group is a group of people who are a hoe for a good book and want to meet other like-minded hoes here in the city. Making friends in the city as an adult can be hard, but when we all have something in common it's way easier. Please be mindful to others and come expecting a riveting conversation based on respect, admiration, and appreciation towards each other and the book we're reading.
IMPORTANT INFO TO KNOW PRIOR TO PURCHASE:
Please be aware all tickets are final sale - no exchanges or refunds. Tickets are non-exchangeable between book clubs and events and are non-refundable.
Must be 21+ to attend.
This event will be photographed for promotional purposes.
We take a group photo at the end of every book club (optional to be in), but photos are also taken during book clubs and events to promote the Book Club for Book Hoes on Instagram and TikTok. Photos are taken by both the organizer and by members who can take their own photos throughout our time together. If you do not wish to be photographed in the group photo, that is totally okay.

IN REGARDS TO BOOK CLUB CONVOS: we are lucky that our book club has grown significantly since its beginning. When speaking/engaging in conversation at book club, please be aware this is a cohesive conversation with equal opportunity for all members. Spring 2025 Drag Showcase: Between and Beyond Gender | BAX | Brooklyn Arts Exchange
May 17, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Brooklyn
Drag Showcase: Between and Beyond Gender
You are invited to the Spring 2025 Drag show, featuring participants from Theydy Bedbug’s class, “
Drag Performance: Between and Beyond Gender
.” This culminating showcase will feature original performance pieces by emerging experimental drag artists who subvert both gender and genre. This year’s cohort was curated and led by
Theydy Bedbug
with Drag Performers Queerly Femmetastic and Mocha Lite, who served as Guest Facilitators for the season. Join us in community as we celebrate queer joy and gender-expansive expression!
Date:
Saturday, May 17, 2025
Time:
8:00 PM (Eastern Standard Time)
Location:
Brooklyn Arts Exchange (421 5th Avenue) and Livestreamed for Remote Access
This showcase will feature performances by ATTABOY!, DADDY GAYSTER, Father Fay, Hermoine Grinder, Luce Change, Patty Longlegs, PHUC BUI, Poppy J Snacks, Po$ster Chylde, Purrmiscuous, Titts Romney, Wolfgang Williams, and Theydy Bedbug.
Please bring cash to tip the performers.
The Drag Performance Class, which was first launched in early 2021 and is part of
BAX’s Practice Lab
, focuses on developing drag characters that expand what it means to be a drag queen, king, thing, in between or beyond what has been seen. Through group games, writing prompts, discussion, and solo and collaborative movement exercises, participants give themselves permission to express the full range of who they are—and can be—while releasing narratives about how they “should” move, express, or dress based on inherited gender norms. They experiment with the tools of pantomime, clowning, lip sync, caricature, structured improv and intuitive movement to build towards in-process drag performance acts. While this class is focused primarily on performance skills, they touch upon what goes into making a drag act including: makeup, costumes, creating a musical track, movement choreography and technical production choices.
Theydy Bedbug
(they/them) is a drag creature, teacher, writer, and the dad joke of Brooklyn drag. They have been deemed “MAGA Right’s Worst Nightmare” by their mentor, trans icon, Kate Bornstein, for their work as a drag educator for all ages. A bug about town, they’ve been profiled by THEM, The NY Times, and (soon) Rolling Stone. They have performed and produced in venues such asThe Signature Theatre, Lehman College, SVA, Barnard College, Triskelion Arts, Gibney Dance, The Knockdown Center, The Stone Church, The Kraine Theater, House of Yes, BAX, The Stonewall Inn, The Brick, The Flea, The Tank, Pioneer Works, Google NY, FIT, VICE Headquarters, UCB, BAM Fisher, The Hangar Theater, Chelsea Music Hall, National Sawdust, Coney Island Sideshows by the Seashore, JACK among countless other venues in New York and beyond. Their performances combine campy drag, compelling characters, and narrative poetry to reclaim their body, queer audiences, and reckon with belonging. They believe that access to spaces of genderful play in performance and creation is a step toward collective liberation. Read about them in their NY Times feature or connect & collaborate:
@theydy.bedbug
Accessibility
The Spring 2025 Drag Showcase at 8pm will be live streamed with automated captions. BAX also provides free access accessories to audiences such as fidget spinners and pop fidget toys, ear plugs, and more. Please note that the BAX Theater is located on the second and third floors of the building and currently, there is no elevator or ramp.
