Mother Russia by Lauren Yee
Directed by Josh Hecht
Evgeny and Dmitri are just two average guys who dream of cushy government jobs—but when the fall of the Soviet Union puts hiring on hold, they find work surveilling a former pop star instead. As they bumble their way through the assignment, both spying and life under capitalism prove harder than they thought. This prescient and thought-provoking comedy by Lauren Yee
(The Great Leap, Cambodian Rock Band)
reveals what happens when old systems and strongmen fall away, and we let the free market decide—but freedom doesn’t taste as good as we thought it would.

It's All Going to Break | SPACE
Jun 23, 2025 (UTC-4)
Portland
Imagine being a fly on the wall at the birth of a musical movement that would change indie rock forever.
In early 2000's in Toronto, a group of young creative musicians collectively known as, Broken Social Scene, got together and soon became a worldwide phenomenon. IT’S ALL GONNA BREAK is an electrifying and intimate documentary about the indie rock that redefined the sound of a generation. Filmmaker and longtime friend Stephen Chung was there from the beginning, capturing the chaos, creativity, and camaraderie that fueled their rise and caught on camera the making of the iconic “You Forgot It In People.” With never-before-seen archival footage and new interviews with
Kevin Drew, Leslie Feist, Brendan Canning, Emily Haines, Amy Millan,
and more, the film traces the band’s evolution from raw basement jams to global stages like Lollapalooza and
The Late Show with David Letterman
.
A love letter to independent music, IT’S ALL GONNA BREAK is a vibrant time capsule of a pre-digital era and a moving reflection on friendship, art, and the freedom to create on your own terms.

Wooden Chopsticks Carving Workshop…in the Garden! | Maine Jewish Museum
Jun 26, 2025 (UTC-4)
Portland
The knife is arguably our most important tool. For thousands of years, people have used knives made of metal and stone to cut, scrape, carve, dig, gouge, and separate various materials for consumption or other use. In the modern world, however, many of us have forgotten how to use knives anywhere outside the kitchen.
In this workshop, you will learn how to use a knife to carve your own pair of wooden chopsticks. We’ll cover the basics of safety, techniques, and good wood carving form. You’ll be able to put those chopsticks to good use on light dim sum hors d’oeuvres in the garden, and MJM Executive Director Dawn LaRochelle, who spent years living and traveling in Japan, China, and Taiwan, will be on hand to discuss the history of chopsticks and the Jewish obsession with Chinese food.
About the Instructor:
Zack Rouda is the Director of
Rewild Maine
, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of small-scale, place-based living skills. With a passion for hand tools and organic art, Zack leads initiatives that focus on reintroducing native species, practicing homesteading and survival skills, and enhancing ecological resilience across the state.

Lakeview | Ponderosa Lounge & Grill
Jun 26, 2025 (UTC-7)
Portland
Headliner - Lakeview
Tattooed, rural, and blue-collar country duo Lakeview (Jesse Denaro and Luke Healy) are among Nashville’s hottest newcomers. Garnering 130M+ streams and amassing a loyal following of 550K+ across social media, these “weekend warriors-turned-Music Row favorites” (The Tennessean) have managed to carve their own, niche lane in the country genre – thanks to a hard-charging, signature sound that effortlessly bridges the gap between metal-core and mainstream country.
Fresh off the release of their self-titled debut album, Lakeview has been busy crisscrossing the nation, opening for the likes of Breaking Benjamin, Staind, Chase Matthew, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mitchell Tenpenny, and more. Coming up, the breakout duo will kick off 2025 touring with their “Blue Collar Country” headline tour.
Fans can keep up with what’s to come by visiting
lakeviewofficial.com
or downloading the “Lakeview Crew” app.
Opener - Austin G
Alt-pop country artist AUSTIN (Austin Gee) is forging his own path within the country genre with music as authentic as he is. Born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and a graduate of Murray State University, Austin found early inspiration in the radio leading to involvement in church choir and theater throughout school. Moving to Nashville in 2017, he quickly gained success as half of the duo SixForty1 — opening for the likes of Brantley Gilbert, Eli Young Band, Michael Ray, Walker Hayes, Muscadine Bloodline, and garnering millions of streams. AUSTIN is anticipating the release of his debut solo project produced by Matt Geroux. Introducing his unique alt-punk, country-synth sound that nods to influences like Machine Gun Kelly, Rascal Flatts and HARDY, the project gives listeners a deeper look into who he is. He’s managed by Morris Higham.

We think the best relationships are forged when we are comfortable, relaxed and free of pressure. Preferring instead to think of the evening as a casual night out where one can truly be themselves. We do not use traditional 'speed dating' offerings such as bells, whistles and name-tags. Instead we focus on creating an atmosphere conducive to meeting others; a great venue, a personable host and a staff to assist.
Upon registration, you'll be sent an email inviting you to login to your mobile ‘Smart-Card’. As the event begins, log-in to your scorecard and let the flirting begin. You'll be able to choose whom you wish to meet again, to what degree you like them and have until midnight to submit your final selections for matching. Once the clock strikes midnight - return to our platform to see your matches. You can also access your profile via mobile, tablet or PC. Sophisticated Simplicity
Our events offer a fresh alternative to speed dating and matchmaking. We don't find anything romantic about whistles, name-tags or over-the-top party trimmings typically found at singles events so we have done away with them. Creating an atmosphere that is at once casual and comfortable. It's what we call cheeky-chic!
Meet a partner to attend concerts, music festivals, bar crawls or fitness classes. Someone who shares your passions and interests - from sports to yoga - all in a setting just your speed.

Upon registration, you'll be sent an email inviting you to login to your mobile MyCheekyDate ‘Smart-Card’. As the event begins, login to your scorecard and let the flirting begin. You'll be able to choose whom you fancy meeting again, to what degree you like them and have until midnight to submit your final selections for matching. Once the clock strikes midnight - return to our platform to see your matches. It's where Cheeky meets convenience! You can also access your profile via mobile, tablet or PC. Our platform isn't an app so it requires absolutely no downloading and can be accessed directly from our website, anytime. Paper scorecards are just so 2010!
The night has arrived! Go to the venue at the published start time for the event. There is no official start time to the speed dating portion of the evening - we like to wait for all daters to arrive, to have a moment to settle in with a refreshment and mingle should they wish.
Our personable hosts will assist you with your MyCheekyDate 'Smart-Card’ Scorecard. Flirty and fun, your mobile scorecard is just the beginning. Playwright Festival Day 1: "Untitled Houdini Project" by Jen Silverman | Ellyn Bye Studio Theater
Jun 26, 2025 (UTC-8)
Portland
About Untitled Houdini Project by Jen Silverman:In the winter and spring of 1926, Harry Houdini was summoned to a hearing before the House of Representatives, to testify on behalf of a new bill that would make acts of fortune telling illegal. The newest project by playwright Jen Silverman takes as its starting point the exact
transcript for these Congressional hearings, while weaving in thrilling theatrical séance sequences, and the growing complexity of Houdini's relationship with Rose Mackenberg, Houdini's chief investigator. Are we to be a country of cold hard facts, scientific data, and honesty? Are we to be a country of comforting possibilities, where the boundary between the living and the dead is crossable if the right guides are permitted to take you? What does it mean to argue over the character of a nation in 1926 And, of course, what does it mean to do that right now? ------------------------------------------------------------------ About the Playwright Festival:What was it like being the first to hear early drafts of Angels in America? Or Fences? Or The Glass Menagerie? Or Twelfth Night? At Profile's Playwright Festival, you’ll know. Last year’s Playwright Festival gave audiences the opportunity to meet with, and see early drafts of new work from Tony Award-nominated playwright Kristoffer Diaz and two-time Sundance Fellow christopher oscar peña. This year, you’ll be the first to welcome the visionary 2025-2027 Featured Playwrights, Jen Silverman & Mike Lew, and see early drafts of the plays commissioned for our 2025-2027 cycle. You’ll enjoy two workshopped readings, and close the weekend off with a catered Artist Salon with the playwrights. You’ll have the opportunity to meet and mingle with the Featured Playwrights, and to discuss their work, their process, the state of their art, and the state of the world. At Playwright Festival, our audiences and artists build the future of live theatre together. Profile Theatre's Playwright Festival runs June 26 - 28. All events will be held at The Ellen Bye Studio at The Armory, 128 NW 11th Ave, Portland, OR.

Sunny Greene is thirty-five, recently divorced, and about to have a meltdown in the Bergdorf Goodman swimsuit department dressing room. But isn’t rock bottom the perfect place to start a climb?
She decides it’s now or never. Sunny has her PR empire, her gorgeous Chelsea apartment, her two dogs, and her loyal best friends. She decides it's time to love her body and accept herself for who she is, and with this new confidence, her journey begins. Who says a plus-sized divorcee can’t put herself first, feel beautiful, and date up a storm?
Is fate knocking at her door with Dennis, the charming and down-to-earth mailman, or should she be with Ted, the business tycoon who seems ready to make her size-inclusive swimsuit brand a reality? And what should she do about her ex, who shows up unexpectedly, eager to reconnect?
With the same candor and confidence her followers love, Sturino brings us Sunny Greene, a Carrie Bradshaw for the next generation, and her tribute to the trials and triumphs of dating, friendship, and finding yourself.

A Woven Journey: Weaving Workshop - June 2025 | 105 St James St
Jun 28–Jun 29, 2025 (UTC-5)
Portland
A Woven Journey: Summertime Runner In this two-day workshop, Margaret B. Russell and Betsy Martin take the beginning weaver, or weaver who would like a refresher, through the entire weaving process, start to finish. We will begin with learning about the weaving equipment, tools, and even the language used. Each student will measure fibers on a warping board, dress a loom (prepare the loom for weaving), and then weave their piece. We will end with discussing finishing techniques. Use of a 4-shaft table loom, weaving tools, and materials are included in the cost. About the instructors: Margaret B. Russell is a self-taught handweaver with over 40 years of experience, a weaving teacher for close to 30 years, and a lifetime appreciation of making items by hand. She grew up in a home where, what could be handmade, was handmade. From clothing to furnishings, there were always constant examples that spoke to filling a need but also to the pure satisfaction of making something, anything yourself. Margaret’s early exposure to making set a lifelong path for her and through her teaching she likes to help others realize all the possibilities we have within us to create. Betsy Martin is passionate about many of the fiber arts, but these days her primary focus is on weaving and teaching. Her weaving experience spans nearly three decades during which she has shared her love of “all things fibery” with hundreds of students. Betsy has studied with several of the weaving greats of this era – Deborah Chandler, Jason Collingwood, and Tom Knisley – but she is quick to credit the women of her family for instilling an early and abiding love of textiles.
