Walnut Creek
Family Events
It’s time to launch your TPT success story! Join us at TPT Live in Walnut Creek on May 3. TPT Live is a half-day, hands-on workshop for Teacher-Authors where you’ll learn foundational best practices for building your TPT store and maximizing the tools available in your Seller account. Are you fairly early in your TPT journey and looking to grow your emerging business? This event is for you! At the workshop, you’ll get practical strategies for success and walk away feeling confident and ready to unlock your store’s full potential. What to expect We’ll start the day hearing from Molly Lynch, an experienced Teacher-Author, behind Lucky Learning with Molly Lynch .  Molly has been a TPT seller since 2013 and brings 22 years of experience teaching 1st grade. She’s passionate about creating engaging math resources for K-2 grade students and loves witnessing those “light bulb” moments in her classroom. In addition to being a Teacher-Author on TPT, Molly is also the published author of two geography books for Kindergarten and 1st grade. With over 13,000 followers on TPT and more than 600 top-rated resources, Molly is excited to share her TPT journey and the valuable insights she's gained as a Teacher-Author. Then, Team TPT will walk through actionable strategies for success, including: The essential components of quality, in-demand resources How to set up a storefront that showcases your amazing work Tips for maximizing your product listings How to use data from your Seller Dashboard to drive growth Where to find TPT Seller resources and ongoing support And more! We’ll also provide dedicated time to network and collaborate with your fellow Teacher-Authors over lunch. Who is this event for? This event will cover beginner and early-intermediate topics, so it’s best suited for Teacher-Authors with developing stores. Maybe you recently created a Seller account, but you’re not sure where to start when it comes to listing your resources. Or perhaps you’re making steady sales, but want to know how to take your business to the next stage. If this sounds like you, we hope you’ll join us! Otherwise, we invite Teacher-Authors of all levels of experience to join us at our annual conference, TPT Forward. Do I need a Seller account to attend? A Seller account is not required to attend TPT Live. If you’re interested in starting a TPT store, this event is perfect for you! If you do find you’d like to create a Seller account before the event, you can find steps to do so here . How is TPT Live different from TPT Forward? TPT Live is a half-day workshop that’s best suited for Teacher-Authors who are somewhat early in their TPT journeys. During the workshop, a member of Team TPT will share the foundational elements of a successful TPT store and advice for maximizing all the tools available in your Seller account. It’s a much more intimate event than our annual conference. This smaller size allows us to provide individualized attention at TPT Live. TPT Forward, on the other hand, is our biggest event of the year, and it takes place over three days. It’s suited to Teacher-Authors of all levels, and hundreds of Sellers in the community attend. Each day you can choose which Seller-led sessions you’d like to attend, so you can take a deep dive into the topics that are most important to you. Example topics covered include social media marketing, building an email list, creating efficient workflows, leveraging the latest apps and tools, unlocking insights from data, and more. You’ll also get to experience the inspirational Keynote and Seller Stories, networking opportunities, and fun social events. Important notes: Lunch is on us! We’ll also provide coffee to fuel your day. We will make efforts to accommodate common dietary restrictions. If you have specific or unique dietary requirements, feel free to bring your own lunch! This event is highly interactive and will have a limited number of participants so we can provide the best experience to each attendee. Please bring your laptop in order to follow along and participate in the activities during TPT Live. Parking is available at the Embassy Suites for $18 for up to 8 hours.  For more information about TPT Live, visit the TPT Seller Blog . Have additional questions? Comedy
Another fun evening of laughs with host Pat McCoy and featuring Bill Heil and Bill Schott along with Co-Headliners Dave Buleigh and Maureen Langan. MAUREEN LANGAN was a semifinalist on Season 18 of America’s Got Talent . Her performance landed her a standing ovation and four “yeses” from the judges. She is an award-winning broadcaster, international standup comedian, TEDx Talk speaker and corporate & event host. She has performed on Broadway with Rosie O’Donnell and has shared the stage with Robin Williams, Steven Wright, Joy Behar, Gladys Knight and Jordin Sparks…just to name a few. Her quick wit and honest rants on life’s absurdities make her a hit at clubs, theaters, private events and festivals across the U.S., Canada, U.K., Europe and South Africa. She performed at the Borgata in Atlantic City, the Tropicana in Las Vegas and is a regular at Caroline’s on Broadway. Her television appearances include Gotham Live, HBO, Red Eye, MSNBC, CBS, Comics Unleashed, and the Paramount Pictures film Marci X. As a two-time finalist in the San Francisco Comedy Competition, DAVE BULEIGH shared first runner up honors with past legends like Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, Marc Maron, Dane Cook and Kevin Pollak. Dave's multiple characters, voices and impressions were again showcased on AMERICA'S GOT TALENT where he became a fast favorite of both judges and fans alike. Judge Howard Stern said, "You have an excellent command of the stage.” Fellow comedian Howie Mandel (also a judge) added, "Your impressions were spot on.” His uncanny ability to impersonate just about anyone even landed him a starring role as Charlie Sheen in the film - "Not Another Celebrity Movie.” Also, with numerous television, podcast and radio appearances, the international press has weighed in. "Burleigh has the trappings of a soon to be comedy star" – reports Rolling Stone magazine. But perhaps most important, Dave and his talented writers have found a clever way not to step on any toes - on either side of the political aisle. BILL Schott is a Bay Area native who has performed in venues all over California. Some big, some small, and some unique (a laundry mat and junkyard to name a few). He has also performed in clubs in Paris, Madrid, and Bali. The youngest of seven siblings, Bill's comedy is mostly based on real events except the parts that are made up. BILL HEIL is an up-and-coming comic from Berkeley. He might be the tallest comedian you have ever seen? Bill performs all over the Bay Area and is a regular panelist at the Tech Pitch Roast shows in S.F.. Come early for the delicious food and drinks, stay for the laughs! $20 tickets will also be available at the Door (Cash or Venmo) 21 and Older Information Source: Pat Pending Productions | eventbrite

Peregrine Wander | Castle Rock Regional Recreation Area

May 18, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Walnut Creek
Cultural Experiences
By the mid-1950s, Peregrine Falcons disappeared from the steep cliffs of Mount Diablo, victims of DDT. Re-introduced to the area in 1989, they have done well but now face record numbers of visitors to our wildlands, especially in spring and early summer when they urgently need space and privacy to raise their chicks. We'll view the cliffs from far below in Pine Canyon with leaders of the Mount Diablo Peregrine Team. (The Peregrine Team, a project of the Mount Diablo Interpretive Association, is an all-volunteer natural history education group.) Our route to the cliffs follows the historic Stage Road up Mount Diablo, built in 1874. Along the way, we’ll get a whiff of a sulfur spring that a 19th century stagecoach passenger described as “smelling like the cleanings from Rip Van Winkle’s gun barrel, with some rotten eggs that came round the Horn with the 49ers mixed in.” Phew! Photo: Wally DeYoung TOTAL DISTANCE This an easy 2-mile roundtrip hike over mostly level terrain. LEADER Staci Hobbet WEATHER POLICY Rain cancels COST Free; Reservations required WHERE TO MEET We'll assemble at the Orchard Staging Area for Castle Rock Regional Recreation Area off Castle Rock Road in Walnut Creek. There is a restroom at our meeting spot. NOTES Bring binoculars, liquids, and snacks. Dress in layers and wear good hiking shoes. Bring poles if you normally use them. Please, no dogs on this outing.
