In these free fortnightly sessions, you’ll get a chance to have a go at table tennis alongside other members of the LGBTQIA community and their allies. Wether you’re a complete beginner or you’ve been playing for years, we welcome you to have a go in these sessions! This is a great chance to learn a new skill, whilst also getting to socialise with a wonderful and supportive community of people. What to expect: Table tennis, great conversations and lots of fun! The session will start with some gentle games, as well some potential fun tasks/activities run by our amazing facilitators to improve your skill. For this session, we will meet at the mansion on Roxholme grove in the car park area at 11.50 am and move to the entrance at the back of building where the studio is. Keep an eye out for someone with a green t shirt and probably a coat, with shortish, blondish hair as this will be the session facilitator Zoe ( They / She) In this session, you will get the chance to explore gentle pilates based exercises to improve your core strength, flexibility and body stability & control. We will use a range of small equipment, balls, dynaband and other appropriate equipment to support this. Sessions can and will be adapted to suit individual access needs. If you are neurodivergent, there is an article here gives some helpful guidlenes that may be relevent to this session. Mats and equipment is all provided at the studio. There is usually music playing (volume can be adapted by agreement with participants.) Sessions are all about having a relaxed and enjoyable experience whilst increasing awareness, strength and mobility. FAQ: Can I come to this session if I’ve not been before? Yes! Kids Ultimate Cricket Workshop Information: This FREE workshop is open to children aged between 6 - 13 years, of any skill level with no previous cricket experience required, and all abilities are welcome. They will learn all there is to know about bowling, batting, fielding and wicket keeping, with Perth Scorchers players on hand** to give some advice! Community Fan Day Information: The fun doesn't stop just with the cricket workshop! There will be FREE activities happening all around Shipwreck Cove for the whole family to get involved in. What time do I need to arrive? Registered participants of the cricket workshop need to arrive between 4:30pm - 5:30pm to check in. Bruce Ncube is a Zimbabwean musicians with over 15 years of touring and traveling the world teaching and performing in some of the world's biggest stages such as WOMAD/African Drum Village (Scotland)/Edinburgh International Festival/Aberdeen International Youth Festival/ World Music Workshop Festival. Bruce specialises in teaching traditional songs from his native country Zimbabwe in 3 to 6 part harmonies. His teaching is in the traditional way where people would gather around a fire,at weddings, parties and even funerals and statt weaving harmonies. His approach is entirely inclusive and participatory. The songs he teaches are emotionally charged and uplifting carrying messages of hope, inspiration and togetherness. Please bring a packed lunch and a water bottle- we will have a lunch break at 1.00pm. Hot drinks will be provided. Parking is available in the Centre carpark and there is plenty of free street parking also. Family and Friends are invited to the last 30 mins of the workshop so that can hear the group perform the songs they have learnt.

Tag a long to a festive-themed Lino printing workshop on Sunday the 15th of December at the Long Eaton Art Room led by artist & designer Marcus Gilmore. Marcus is a graphic designer, illustrator and print maker who is able to capture striking and colourful designs in his art. The workshop is designed to get you excited about the wonderful medium of lino printing in a small group setting of up to 6 or 8 people. It'll be the perfect opportunity to create Christmas inspired cards and designs for your friends and family! The workshop will begin with sketching your chosen designs, before using carbon paper to transfer it onto the lino to carve. You will have the opportunity to print using a variety of lovely types of papers to create unique and captivating results. All equipment including lino plates, carving tools and ink will be all provided by Marcus. Participants of all abilities are welcome and no previous experience is required. Your finished carved linoplate will be loaded into a printing press where Marcus will demonstrate how to effectively mix colours and print on a variety of hand-made papers. The workshop will be taking place in the Long Eaton Art Room's large workshop room. Where you'll have plenty of space, great lighting and plenty of tea, biscuits and snacks to keep you going! Lunchtime will be set at 12:30 am you are welcome to bring your own lunch or snacks as well with you. I look forward to seeing you then. Wether you’re a complete beginner or you’ve been playing for years, we welcome you to have a go in these sessions! This is a great chance to learn a new skill, whilst also getting to socialise with a wonderful and supportive community of people. What to expect: Table tennis, great conversations and lots of fun! The session will start with some gentle games, as well some potential fun tasks/activities run by our amazing facilitators to improve your skill. What to bring: We will provide all the resources to these sessions, so just bring yourself! Getting here: The hall is 5 minutes walk (Google Maps estimate) from stops on the following bus routes:

About your facilitators: Nat (she/her) is a tattoo artist from Leeds who you may have met at our popular LGBTQ+ swimming sessions. In her free time, she likes hanging out with her dog Lola and going wild swimming. More about event organiser, Leeds LGBT Community Consortium Leeds LGBTQ+ Community Consortium works with partners to reduce social isolation amongst older, unwell, disabled or otherwise restricted members of the LGBTQ+ communities. We aim to improve health and by providing inter-generational activities, events and information to enable LGBTQ+ people to develop new interests and become more connected.
