About the Instructor:
Kaye DeHart is a San Francisco textile and multimedia artist passionate about slow fashion and sustainability. Drawn to the expressive power of fashion from a young age, they draw inspiration from punk and other fashion subcultures as well as traditional practices such as Japanese boro fabric, patchwork and quilting, and the exquisite craftsmanship of historic and couture sewing, when materials were much more precious and the lifecycle of a garment was considered more thoughtfully. They have been repairing, altering and designing clothes for over ten years.
About Sunset Commons:
Carmen and Steven started Sunset Commons to provide a space to connect and build community through arts and craft activities led by talented local artists. Inspired by a love for creativity and a desire to foster connection in the Sunset District, we envisioned a “third space” where neighbors can gather, unwind, and form meaningful relationships. Our mission is to empower self-expression, boost confidence, and offer an inclusive haven for everyone, from introverts seeking a calm environment to those enjoying health-focused traditional teas. Sunset Commons is not just a business - it’s our way of enriching the community we love and to the city we both grew up in.

Chronicle Live: Inside Alcatraz: Myths, Hollywood and stranger-than-fiction | Manny's
Jul 24, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
San Francisco
Alcatraz has been many things over its millennia of existence. A chunk of rock jutting from open waters. A heavily armed fortress protecting San Francisco Bay. The first lighthouse on the West Coast. A military prison. A maximum-security penitentiary. The site of a Native American occupation. A Hollywood film set. A national park space.
The lore surrounding the island and its occupants has always been fascinating, but the real story of “the Rock” is even better. At 6 p.m. on July 24, join Chronicle Culture Critic Peter Hartlaub and historian, writer, and retired national park ranger John Martini for a night of rare photos, myths, and history about Alcatraz. Martini is the author of “Fortress Alcatraz: Guardian of the Golden Gate,” and he and Hartlaub will discuss Hollywood’s fascination with the notorious prison island, its years as a military installation and federal penitentiary, what it’s like to work at the national park site and President Trump’s recent suggestion that Alcatraz could one day house prisoners again.
They’ll also show rarely seen photos of Alcatraz over the years from the Chronicle archive, including images from the 1962 escape that helped speed its closure and recently rediscovered images from the Chronicle’s Vince Maggiora, who was the first photographer embedded with the 1969 occupation.
Manny’s never turns away anyone for lack of funds. If you need a free ticket, just email "grapefruit" along with the event title to

About Your Facilitators
Erwan & Alicia Davon are longtime teachers based in the SF Bay Area. They developed their signature process, the Davon Method, and have taught it to over 20,000 students in groups, retreats and individual sessions. As a married couple, they have been teaching singles to get into relationship & couples to thrive in relationship for the last 25 years.
They have become the go-to place in the San Francisco Bay Area for all things romantic and sexual and are quickly becoming that worldwide through online learning.
Erwan and Alicia have a unique approach to relationship coaching that combines their educational backgrounds in psychology and aspects of Zen Buddhism to provide a holistic method to effectively improve connection with the self and others.
Erwan studied psychology and graduated with honors after a challenging childhood and an early introduction to therapeutic work. He went on to live and study in a Zen Monastery, direct a Yoga ashram, and teach personal development at one of the world’s largest personal growth organizations. Erwan’s passion for helping and teaching people led him to found The Davon Method in 1995, specifically to help people improve their romantic relationships.
Alicia holds a Master’s degree in Integral Psychology with a focus on women’s romantic and sexual expression. She trained as a therapist before meeting Erwan and led numerous women’s groups devoted to female pleasure and life fulfillment from career to relationship. She met Erwan 20 years ago and started teaching with him soon after.
They have spent years perfecting their curriculum and techniques and provide a safe place so you can improve chemistry, connection, communication, and passion in your love life! Get ready to have fun because working with them is a blast!
