Monthly Make-Along: Bee Baths | Fettle & Fire
May 1, 2025 (UTC-6)ENDED
Longmont
We hope you'll join us for May's Monthly Make-Along, bee baths!
This 90 minute workshop will be led by Gen Eliot and Lindsey Bricker at the Fettle & Fire studio in Midtown Longmont, Colorado.
When you add a bee bath to your garden, you provide a vital resource for local bees. Although honeybees don’t use water for hydration, they collect water to aid their digestion and keep their guts healthy. Bees also collect water in their wings to fan themselves inside their hot hives.
Perhaps the most important reason to provide water for bees is to support bee larvae. Nurse bees need water to create royal jelly to feed bee larva and help them grow. Learn more at savethebee.org!
We'll use our signature colorful stoneware in red, orange, yellow, light green, dark green, blue, lavender, and ivory to create bee baths. You can expect to create one or two bee baths during the workshop! No clay experience is required for this activity.
Please wear clothing you don't mind dirtying, and bring beverages in closed-top containers to protect them from clay dust. All tools and materials are provided. You'll be able to pick up your projects approximately two weeks after the workshop, or we will be happy to ship them to you if you're not local.
Let us know if you have any questions - we're looking forward to hosting you!

We'll use our signature colorful stoneware in red, orange, yellow, light green, dark green, blue, lavender, and ivory to create bee baths. You can expect to create one or two bee baths during the workshop! No clay experience is required for this activity.
Our adult workshops are for ages 16 and up ONLY! By registering, you are confirming that you (and any registered guests) are 16 or older.

How to Play in the Dark | Una Vida Meditation & Movement
Jun 11, 2025 (UTC-6)ENDED
Longmont
What if learning to play with your deepest struggles is the key to unlocking your greatest potential?
What if the experience wasn’t just deep and impactful, but also fun, creative, pleasurable, and rewarding?
What if you could walk into a space where you knew—deep in your bones—that you were safe enough to bring all of you?
What if shame and pain melted away while you were playing?
What if the healing you need is the very thing that could help heal the collective?
___________________________________________________________________________________
At
How to Play in the Dark
,
transformation doesn’t just come from merely facing hardship—it comes from meeting it with
curiosity, creativity, and a playful sense of adventure.
Here, you don’t just think about shifting beliefs—you
experience
it. Through movement, expression, and co-creation, you step directly into the shift,
embodying change in real-time.
Each group is emergent and shaped by the unique energy and expression of those involved. No two journeys are the same, making every encounter a
powerful catalyst for transformation.
By witnessing and engaging in each other’s explorations,
we strengthen our collective power to heal, create, and support one another.
Together, we step into the unknown with curiosity and courage,
uncovering freedom, magic, and unexpected possibilities
along the way. If it seems mysterious—that’s because it is!
This isn’t just about healing. It’s about
reimagining what it means to live fully, authentically, and vibrantly by reclaiming every part of yourself
—even the ones hidden in the shadows.
And yes, it’s FUN!!!
FACILITATOR:
Danielle Rifkin, LPC, ATR
is the owner of
How To Play In The Dark
. She is a
Somatic, Art & Play Therapist, and Grief Ritualist
. She has been running grief circles, art groups, and other experiential offerings for over a decade. She got her Master's degree from Naropa University in Transpersonal Psychology and has worked in a variety of therapeutic settings in her career. She has facilitated hundreds of groups where she emphasizes creating spaces that allow for authenticity and feeling safe enough to show all parts of themselves. She believes that the biggest moments of transformation happen in community and through experiences, when we are safe enough to surrender.
TESTIMONIALS:
"Danielle is a masterful and intuitive facilitator. How to Play in the Dark is a space of deep exploration, creativity, healing, and connection. I felt so deeply seen and held as we explored our edges and our darkness with curiosity, compassion, and of course - play!
It's hard to capture in words, but this experience is sacred, healing, and, dare I say, holy.
If you want to receive support around a challenge, in a way that feels honoring and authentic while also bringing lightness, joy, and transmutation, I highly encourage you to attend this potent experience. It's one of a kind." -Kimberly
“Danielle creates the safest spaces because she cares so deeply about feeling safe.” -Julie
“In my 55 years, I have never been a ‘group person’, feeling a private, vulnerable, not my cup of tea vibe, maybe protection. The experience I had,
facilitated and held with such profound love and grace by Danielle, was like spiritual honey and homecoming.
To gather in the dark, to transform the dark, in such a space of power and safety was like
a long awaited and yearned for exhale.
It was important. It was beautiful. It was nurturing and gently nudging that edge simultaneously. It was healing and transformative. And it was stabilizing. I am profoundly grateful to Danielle for creating and guiding this experience, the
effects of which will Ripple and alchemize much more than I can even know now.
Just beautiful.” -Laurel
FAQS:
Do you literally play in the DARK?
The word dark is metaphorical for when we feel in the dark about something. Although we could shut off the lights and put on some blindfloods if that was needed or part of the play, in this context the word “dark” refers to “struggle, challenge, mystery, unknown, wounds, fears, etc.”
What type of play do you do in the groups?
Since these are co-created and emergent experiences, every group is different. The play that we utlize is activated from the group field and the creativity of participants, which can take us in a lot of different directions. That being said, some examples could include psycho-drama, somatic processing, singing, dancing, parts work, etc.
Do I need to feel comfortable knowing how to play?
Absolutely not. This group is about coming as you are and learning. A lot of people that have come to these groups feel self-conscious and uncomfortable around play and it becomes an incredible opportunity to reclaim your relationship with play. We welcome you truly as you are.
Do I need to know what I am struggling with when I arrive?
Nope. You are taken through a process to uncover your needs and intentions as we land into the experience.

Herbalism for Children's Common Cold | 439 Main St
Jul 2, 2025 (UTC-6)ENDED
Longmont
About me:
I am a Certified Clinical Herbalist, and my particular calling within my field is to reach out to parents and care-givers to steward their journeys toward more intentional, holistic, and traditional health practices. After I graduated from herb school, I began working as a Waldorf preschool teacher with a particular focus on the toddler age group. Through my experience in the toddler and early childhood classrooms, I was able to witness so many of the developmental milestones, emotional challenges, and common health issues that present themselves during these unique and precious years. I got to know many parents and families with a hunger for education and knowledge on what practices and remedies they could incorporate at home to bolster their children's health and overall wellness. I began designing a series of classes to address that community need.
About this event:
The intention of this class is to educate and inform parents and care-givers about what they should expect when confronting the common cold in their children. This class will cover 1) what to do to address common cold holistically at home, 2) how to reduce cold duration, 3) what to avoid during respiratory illness, 4) proper and safe herbal dosing in children and 5) what kinds of herbs and other natural remedies to use to alleviate pesky symptoms like snot, coughing, and fatigue. What is the common cold? What causes it? What is the difference between frequent vs. chronic colds? What do food, rest, and play have to do with it? Attendees of this class will learn how to answer and address these questions with confidence and competence.
Bring a pen and paper!

Fight For Your Life (FFYL) | 10916 County Road 5, Longmont, CO, USA
Jul 20, 2025 (UTC-6)ENDED
Longmont
FFYL (Fight For Your Life)
class is designed for those seeking a
realistic
,
intense
training experience that will push participants both mentally and physically. This class is
force-on-force
and centers around fighting in urban environments, emphasizing practical techniques for real-world violent encounters. Each FFYL training session will focus on a different weapons platform. Over the year the training will include sessions on - Pistol, AR, Knife, AR vs Pistol, Knife vs Pistol, and full kit encounters. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what you can expect:
Key Features:
Realistic Urban Combat Training:
The class will simulate
violent encounters in urban settings
, focusing on both individual and small-team tactics. You will practice fighting in and around structures, which mirrors the unpredictability and challenges of real-world scenarios.
The class uses
force-on-force training
, meaning you’ll engage in live drills where you react to realistic threats, testing your ability to think and perform under stress.
Failure and Repetition:
This class is
designed to challenge you
, and you will likely
fail often
as you push your limits. Failure is expected—it's part of the learning process. The goal is to improve through repetition, correct mistakes, and refine your responses until they become instinctual.
The class focuses on
follow-through behaviors
—the automatic, reactive responses you need when under threat. By repeatedly practicing these behaviors, you’ll build the muscle memory and mental clarity required in a violent encounter.
Physical and Mental Pushing:
Be prepared to be
pushed physically and mentally
. This isn’t a leisurely class; it’s designed to break you down and force you to learn under pressure. The more you embrace this challenge, the more you will grow in your defensive and combat skills.
Simunition Training:
Simunition upper receivers, ammo
, and
protective headwear
will be provided. Simunition (training ammunition) is a safer alternative to live rounds, but still offers a realistic experience, making it an essential tool for this high-stress, realistic training.
Ammo allotment
will be provided at the start, though the emphasis will be on
low round counts
. If you run out of your allotted ammo, additional rounds will be available for purchase.
What You’ll Need:
Required Clothing:
Long pants, closed-toed shoes, and a long-sleeve shirt
are required to ensure proper protection during force-on-force drills. Please note that
Simunition
ammunition may leave a residue on your clothes.
Hoodie (Highly Recommended):
A hoodie will provide additional protection against impact in close-range engagements.
Sturdy Belt:
A
sturdy belt
is essential for securing any protective gear, holsters, or other equipment you may need for the class.
AR Lower Receiver:
Bring your
AR lower receiver
to complete the Simunition training setup. This is essential for engaging in the drills.
Full Kit (Recommended):
Battle belt
Boots
(durable and comfortable)
Gloves
Body armor
(if available)
No Live Ammunition or Knives:
No live firearms, knives, or live ammunition are allowed. The use of Simunition ensures safety while still maintaining realism in your training experience.
Class Benefits:
Enhanced Real-World Skills:
You'll learn how to handle high-stress violent encounters in urban environments, adapting your responses to various evolving situations.
Mental Toughness:
By pushing through failure and stress, you’ll develop
mental resilience
, and learn to stay composed under pressure.
Repetitive Practice:
Repetition of key techniques ensures that you can react quickly and correctly when faced with real-life threats.
Force-on-Force Experience:
Simulated combat situations allow you to practice in an environment that’s as close to the real thing as possible,
without the risks
of live fire.
Improved Tactical Awareness:
The class will hone your situational awareness, helping you better understand your surroundings and how to defend yourself in complex, dynamic situations.
Who Should Attend:
The
FFYL
class is not for everyone. It's physically and mentally demanding, designed for individuals who are serious about improving their ability to survive and respond to violent encounters. The class is ideal for:
Law enforcement
and
military personnel
looking to improve their CQB and urban combat skills.
Private security professionals
and others who operate in high-risk environments.
