This February half term we want to get as many families as we can confident in cycling! All children, any ability, aged 5 - 11 years old welcome, along with a family member! So whether your child is brand new to cycling or they already love riding a bike, bring them down to improve their skills, build confidence and make friends with other keen cyclists. Parents/carers please bring along your bikes too, or borrow one of ours to enjoy cycling together. Whether you haven't been on a bike in years, or you're out regularly, join in to share in the fun and encourage your child. We will have qualified Bikeability instructors present for each session. Please feel free to book siblings on to the same sessions as we will group children of similar ability and/or age to play games and master skills that will help them develop into confident riders. Even if your child cannot yet cycle without stabilisers, we can develop their skills- just take off their stabilisers and we will do the rest! So all that's left to do is book your child a ticket to reserve their place on our cycling sessions! What do they need to bring? Children will need a suitable bike* (correct size for their height, with working front AND back brakes and pumped up tyres), a helmet and a water bottle! Please remove stabilisers before the lesson. What time should we arrive and when does the session end?* Morning lessons start at 9.30am prompt. Please arrive at the gate on Lydgate Drive at 9.25am to sign your child into the session. Emergency contact details and medical information will be collected at the start of each lesson. Morning lessons finish at 11.30am. We will open the gate on Lydgate Drive at 11.25am for the end of the session. Afternoon lessons start at 12.30pm prompt. Please arrive at the gate on Lydgate Drive at 12.25pm to sign your child into the session. Emergency contact details and medical information will be collected at the start of each lesson. Afternoon lessons finish at 2.30pm. We will open the gate on Lydgate Drive at 2.25pm for the end of the session. * Parking is available on Lydgate Drive only- the main school entrance will be closed. We will continue the sessions even if it rains, so pack a waterproof coat! Sessions will only be cancelled if the weather becomes a safety hazard. Please note that all Instructors are DBS checked and have the relevant qualifications to coach. First Aiders will also be on site. Try your hand at a beginner-friendly Japanese style binding! Students will learn a brief history of the Japanese Stab Binding, and will receive guided instruction on how to create their own hanging list book. Select your cover paper, leather, and thread color, to create a book that is uniquely you! This is a make and take class - students will create one hanging list book to take home. While not required, it is recommended that you attend Shuttle Press & Bindery's Pamphlet Stitch class before attempting this binding - we will be building upon the sewing techniques we've already learned! Students can direct any/all questions about this class to the instructor, Dana, via email: shuttlepressbindery@gmail.com -- All students who attend Shuttle Press & Bindery workshops will be required to sign a liability waiver in order to participate. Letterpress and bindery tools can be dangerous, and can cause significant injury or harm. The class instructor reserves the right to deny instruction to anyone in attendance who displays impairment or an inability to use tools safely and properly.
