The Artists --- VANCAMP crafts introspective, energetic, and earnest indie folk. The project began in 2021, when singer/songwriter Calvin Bakelaar began channeling his emotions into songs that blend folk storytelling with the edge of indie rock. Since then, VANCAMP has grown into something bigger—fun, experimental, and full of life. VANCAMP was named the Peterborough Folk Festival Emerging Artist of the Year in 2024, and you can stream the music anywhere or catch a show to experience it live. ----- Piner (aka Claya Way Brackenbury) is a Singer-Songwriter based in Katarokwi (Kingston, ON, Canada) who steps into the stories of others and connects listeners with all the complexities of the greater human experience. Her critically acclaimed 2018 debut album “The Breaking Point” showed “a display of pure confidence and vulnerability” said Mac Cameron, Dominionated . The follow up full-band EP “ Root Bound” recorded at North Of Princess Studios in Kingston, ON was released in June 2019. Piner’s latest album, “A Netherworld” , recorded at Joel Plaskett’s Studio in Dartmouth, NS, is a project of hope and yearning, during fractured, challenging times. Piner creates a world of connection, care, and change through her songwriting and direct action for charitable initiatives. Piner brought attention and organized events to create care and community for healthcare professionals, raised donations for the Mi’kma’ki Water Walk in NS, worked with the Mutual Aid Garden Network in Kingston to address food insecurity, and raised awareness about the current national housing crisis. After the release of “A Netherworld” Piner toured opening for and sharing festivals/show bills with: Georgia Harmer, Terra Lightfoot, Charlotte Cornfield, Ombiigizi, Skye Wallace, Mo Kenney, Crash Test Dummies, and more. --- Bad Fortune is a Kingston-based folk duo, comprised of local artists Max Tinline and Piper Noelle. Guided by the Ubuntu philosophy—“I am because we are”—Norman believes communities thrive when everyone is empowered. His career spans consulting, ecosystem building, and leading educational programs for future founders. He also mentors at regional accelerators and speaks globally on inclusive innovation, startup ecosystems and how to be a person who is not bothered by everything shaking a tree next to us! Ricki Barrett Found er, Glass House Goods Ricki is the one-woman-show behind Glass House Goods. She started dreaming up this brand while she was poorly managing the transition from one child to two. During that time she struggled much more than she let on, (which she regrets) but once the fog started to eventually lift, she started to gain more confidence and started to really open up about who she was. "I don’t know if it was my age/maturity or just exhaustion from trying to be the Pinterest version of myself, but I started to be more authentic and true to myself and saw that others were too. What an amazing trend!" Glass House Goods was created as a way to remind women of their strength, their truth and their sass in a stylish way. What’s more, she created this as a way to connect with other strong women, and to celebrate our truth and tenacity. To create a community of vulnerability, kindness and badass-ery.
