The Early Victorian scientist James Cowles Prichard was a psychiatric theorist of international reputation, the founder of the British science of anthropology and the first linguist to demonstrate that Celtic is a member of the Indo-European language family. He is also considered to be the greatest anti-racist scientist of the nineteenth century. But when not entertaining fellow intellectuals at the Red Lodge, Dr. Prichard was a physician to the rich and poor of Bristol.
Author Margaret Crump’s illustrated talk on Dr. Prichard’s medical practice marks the publication of her biography, James Cowles Prichard of the Red Lodge: A Life of Science During the Age of Improvement, University of Nebraska Press, 2025.

Our annual bingo night fundraiser is back, and this time better than ever!
Join us on Saturday, July 12, 2025! Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Entry fee of $30 includes 10 rounds of bingo (3 bingo cards per game) and a door prize ticket. Additional bingo cards will be available for sale at the event.
If you purchase a group of 8 or more tickets, we will reserve seating together for you. Smaller groups and individual tickets will be first-come, first-served seating.
Bingo rounds will have a cash prize of at least $200. The prize money for the round will be split among all winners if we have multiple winners in a single game. We will also have additional chances to win with incredible raffle prizes, door prizes, a bonus game, and a 50/50 ticket raffle.
Due to the current gambling laws for PA, mature teens may attend for a social night with their family, but they are not permitted to win bingo. No children under 12 admitted. Every person must have a ticket to enter.
You may bring your own food, but no beverages will be allowed per liquor control board rules. Snacks and beverages will also be available for sale during the event.

This special event is part of a series bringing to life the ‘Foundations for the Future: KWMC past and present’ exhibition. The exhibition charts 29 years of KWMC; curated by KWMC founder Carolyn Hassan and team.

His ability to bridge clinical and legal contexts makes him a highly sought-after expert witness in brain injury litigation.
