Bristol
Concerts
Alternative
Space are an indie/alternative dance band from Liverpool, England, who rose to prominence in the mid 90s' with hit singles such as "Female of the Species", "Me and You Versus the World", "Neighbourhood", "Avenging Angels" and "The Ballad of Tom Jones", the latter a duet with Cerys Matthews of Catatonia, and are still active today. Space pursued an eclectic sound dubbed "queasy listening" by critics, embracing electronica and sampling in their work and drawing from genres as diverse as hip hop, techno, post-punk, ska, lounge music, easy listening and film scores, the result of the differing tastes between band members. The group were also noted for their deliberately tongue-in-cheek, dark humoured lyrics inspired by films, which frequently deal with topics such as serial killers, failed relationships, social outcasts, and mental illness. Whilst Space's eclecticism and camp humour polarised listeners and critics, they have maintained a devoted cult following. Information Source: The Fleece Bristol | eventbrite

The songs I use are often slower or have easier to follow moves so you can really get into the song and into the fitness aspect quickly. They are just as much fun as Zumba but with a slightly more effective outcome. The class is about 45-50 minutes of Merengue, Salsa, Reggaeton & Cumbia dances mixed in with other fantastic World music. I have a Room or Zoom option as I still have clients that join online from home so you can still do the class even if you can't leave the house! Suitable for everyone, beginners and experts it doesn't matter if you have danced for years or never tried before, you'll be wiggling & giggling to the brilliant music and haveing a great time. I love my country, it is like paradise. I fondly remember picking fresh mango and guava. My passion for cooking began at age 10, helping my mum clean okra and learning to haggle in the fish markets with my dad. My father was a teacher and provided for our family and his four sisters. My mother was the oldest daughter in her family, so everyone would eat at our home. She was very generous and always cooked extra for those in need. Sadly, because of the civil war in Sri Lanka, my family had to move to Bahrain, There I worked in the welfare department of an Islamic NGO, but I was also able to use my cooking skills and I cooked for events for the Youth Group. My wife is also a very good cook and our dream is to open a restaurant. I’m very proud of my parents, they taught me to be generous, so I am excited to share my recipes, perfected over 40 years.” We’re excited to have you in the class! Breathwork, Yoga and Sound Bath | The Mount Without

Jul 2, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Bristol
Yoga
Cultural Experiences
Join me for an immersion in transformational breathwork, kundalini Global yoga and sound bath in The Mount Without where we’ll be accessing altered states of being. Breath is a powerful tool we can harness to regulate the nervous system, release stress and tension in the body, and enter a deep state of calm and presence. When we combine breath and posture it allows us to quiet our minds and open our hearts, expanding our energetic field, and accepting ourselves completely as we are. Some breaths will be energetic, some incredibly soft and gentle. Both will allow us to experience complete stillness. Working with the science of these divine ancient practices can significantly reduce anxiety, depression, and addictive behaviours, creating a profound sense of balance within the self. There is an ever-expanding body of research that supports the benefits of yoga, breathwork and meditation in improving and maintaining overall mental and physical health. One of the many beautiful aspects of working with yoga and the breath is that they gift us the ability to ‘self-regulate’: the state of presence we experience removes the need to reach outside ourselves for something to soothe us. The art of these classes is to discover that you can change how you feel. Our feelings are not in our head, but in our bodies. We have autonomy, and yoga and breath can change our physical and emotional state, our hormonal flow, and ultimately how we feel and experience ourselves. What to expect: Through a dynamic practice of breathwork , and Yoga we’ll activate the energic body, finding deep presence, expansion, and often blissful states. Release stress and tension while finding stillness, whether through energising or soft, gentle breathwork. Each session ends with a crystal bowl sound bath, leaving you in a deeper state of relaxation. No experience is necessary, and I aim to create a safe, welcoming space for all. Please note, these classes are not suitable during pregnancy. Information Source: Lucy Spragge | eventbrite
