Pop down to your local People Planet Pint meetup to find more about what's going on locally with sustainability and how you can get involved. No pitches, powerpoints or panels. Just People, Planet, Pint/s. Your local meetup is a great place to start your journey or continue learning, and meet diverse people to chat about life and how we can sustain it. Every job is a climate job, so come along and learn about how you can take action, as well as what is going on locally. We welcome everyone, regardless of their experience or background. People Planet Pint is a space where everyone can feel comfortable learning about sustainability and sharing their ideas. Afterall, creating a sustainable future requires connected communities. And what better way to bring everyone together than over a drink? Your Volunteer Hosts Polly Chappell works as a sustainability consultant in Bath, supporting a range of organisations to create and deliver aspirational sustainability and net zero strategies. After graduating with her Masters in Management and Sustainability at the University of Bath, she did not want to leave this beautiful city. She is passionate for sustainable living, nature, sports and wellbeing, and spends her spare time trail running, road cycling or open water swimming. Steve Coates is a chartered engineer and programme manager. His personal interest is in how climate change and global security are intrinsically linked and whether you are working on a major government project, in the supply chain as a Small/Medium Enterprise or taking actions at home, we can all contribute to making the world a safer and more sustainable place to live. Steve lives in Newbridge, Bath, and spends his spare time dog walking, running and brewing his own craft beer. Our Sponsor KRYSTAL are an award-winning, 100% renewably powered web hosting, with datacentres in the UK, US, & Europe. Join us for the Circuit of Bath Walk on Sunday 21st September and take a stand against homelessness. Challenge yourself to take on the full 22-mile route, or a distance of your choosing, and raise sponsorship to help support the many men and women experiencing homelessness and escaping domestic abuse across the South West. The route is now fully signposted! All under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs welcome! What you'll get: Fundraising and training support, ideas and tips Special map and route instructions with Circuit of Bath lanyard Qualified first aid and medical support Refreshment stops with water and snacks Snacks and water for dogs at each checkpoint A medal for finishers of the full route Free shuttle service between check points With stunning views and landscapes across the city of Bath, by taking part you’ll get to explore the city and its countryside in a new way. In addition, by raising sponsorship you will be helping us to provide life changing support to over 2,000 vulnerable men, women and children across the region. It's a grim realisation that without support like ours, the life expectancy of a long-term homeless person is just 44 years. But you can help change that. Grab your hiking boots and get walking in 2025! If you complete the epic route - just under 22 miles - we will award you with a special medal to mark your amazing achievement. "It’s a route that makes one proud of Bath and I can’t wait for it to become a national event that’ll see many tourists flock to participate. I’ve done Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu, National 3 peaks and Yorkshire 3 peaks and Circuit of Bath Walk is unique because there’s so much drama along the route!" Hema Kariyappa, Bath resident "Doing the walk for the first time, it was very helpful to know I did not need to complete the entire circuit as it would have been too much for me! The atmosphere was amazing; huge support from the volunteers who were all really encouraging, fantastic cakes - especially at Woolley - and a huge shared motivation for such a good cause with all the other walkers … I loved saying 'Hi, how's it going?' to the people walking in the opposite direction. Can’t wait till next year ! Amanda Johnson, office manager “The Circuit of Bath Walk was a fantastic day to be a part of, raising money for a brilliant charity with the added bonus of stunning views! The event was wonderfully well organised, and even a complete novice map reader like me found the detailed instructions easy to follow. Every penny raised goes to such an important cause and I’d really recommend IT to anyone who is thinking about taking part ." Georgie Aldridge from Bristol Uni Press. Strength in Style’s reach goes far beyond fashion; it profiles three local charities, empowers individuals, highlights local businesses, and promotes sustainability. Moreover, by its collaborative nature, it unites different sectors of the local community and shows how powerful we can be when we work together with others for a common aim. In 2023 and 2024, Strength in Style exemplified the spirit of community, compassion, and creativity, leaving a lasting impact on all those involved, and we can’t wait to hit the runway again this year! We are excited to be partnering with local independent fashion retailers rather than the big chain stores as we want to showcase the unique fashion offering which exists within the city, and to support our local businesses. ‘Unforgettable characters, written with irrepressible verve and historical accuracy thrums with swordswinging energy.’ ― Simon Sebag Montefiore The Hundred Years’ War was an age-defining conflict. The violent struggle between England and France spanned over a century and permanently transformed the art of European warfare itself. Rich with stories of iconic figures, from Joan of Arc to Henry V, the sheer scale of it continues to inspire fictional retellings today. In his Essex Dogs trilogy, bestselling historian and author Dan Jones retells the battles and bloodshed through the eyes of the Essex Dogs, a fictional platoon. Now, as the series reaches its climax, he joins us on stage for an exploration of war, plague, and the third and final instalment of the trilogy – Lion Hearts. Jones’ story resumes as the Black Death is tearing through Europe. The Essex Dogs have scattered: Romford thrives in the glittering court of King Edward III, Loveday struggles with loss and a reluctant return to violence, and Millstone and Thorp enlist themselves on a deadly mission to escort a princess to Castille. Yet an explosive turn of events is set to pull them back together. Jones returns to Intelligence Squared to explore the brutal realities of the Hundred Years' War, the profound impact of the bubonic plague, and the craft of weaving together fact and fiction. Join us live on September 25 to go behind the scenes of this acclaimed trilogy, pick up a signed copy of Lion Hearts, and have your questions answered in the Q&A. Bath
Cultural Experiences
Join us to celebrate the launch of Sammy Burt’s refreshingly honest and witty new book, What’s a Grown-Up Anyway? - a liberating exploration of adulthood that asks the question so many of us quietly carry: why don’t I feel like a proper grown-up yet? Drawing on research, real stories, and her own lived experience, Sammy dismantles the myth of the “perfect grown-up” and instead builds a more authentic, human definition - one that many of us will recognise. With warmth, humour, compassion and insight, she challenges imposter syndrome and the outdated expectations we often hold ourselves to. Whether you’re 25 or 95, new to this whole adulting thing or just tired of pretending you’ve got it nailed, this launch is for you. Expect good conversation, real talk, and a few welcome laughs as we rethink what it truly means to grow up. Information Source: Your Backpack Limited | eventbrite

Bath
Musical Arts
Hello... is there anybody in there? Let Me In Presents are back, returning for a UK Cathedral Tour, this Autumn, of their brand new production - An Evening of Pink Floyd - following their sell-out, acclaimed tour of An Evening of Radiohead. It promises to be a spectacular live show featuring a full live band, vocalists and a string & brass ensemble, performing in some of the most breathtaking buildings in the UK. Witness the iconic sound of Pink Floyd's vast and ethereal catalogue of music, performed live by the acclaimed Let Me In House Band, alongside the Mike Nowland String and Brass Ensemble - featuring a total of 18 musicians, embodying the timeless songs of one of the most popular artists of all time. Expect to hear hits and hidden gems from across their discography, with a particular focus on the inimitable run of records from the 1970s, including Dark Side of The Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall. We are welcoming the return of the acclaimed band from An Evening of Radiohead, featuring additional musicians to employ the great, epic sound created by Pink Floyd. The band will be fronted by Christopher Buckle and Musical Director - Ewan Steady, and will include musicians and Floyd lovers - Alfie Woods, Bruce Higgs, Daniel Anketell, Josh Semans, Eleanor Kinsey, Lydia Karaviotis and more. The band will be accompanied by very special guests and nationally renowned string and brass players - Mike Nowland, Mathias Svensson, Caroline Bodimead, Kate Scrivens, Laurie Dempsey, Hannah Paterson, Julian Turner, Andy Clennell & Chris Beagles. NOTE -We believe that the arts have both the potential and responsibility to support the strengthening of communities and in actively fighting against injustices that provide a select few in society opportunities that should be accessible to everyone. We are constantly pushing ourselves to find new ways to collaborate with individuals and communities across the Midlands in seeing how we can develop projects that aren’t just artistically enjoyable but that enable space for reflection on how to make our communities more open, safe and without prejudice. Because of this, we do not want to put any financial barriers between our work and our audiences - if you find this is the case, please email us on chris@letmeinpresents.co.uk and we can discuss alternative ticketing arrangements to enable you to come to the event if you wish to. FAQs When do doors open? Doors will open 45 minutes before the music begins, meaning they will open at 6.45pm. This will give you ample time to come into the space, find your seat and relax before the music begins at 7.30pm. What are the stage times? There is no support act, so the music will begin at 7.30pm sharp. There will be two sets with a 20 minute interval, with the event finishing around 10.15pm. Will there be strobes/haze/flashing lights? Yes, there will be strobes and flashing lights throughout the performance, so we recommend that this production is not suitable for those with epilepsy or that struggle with strobes and flashing lighting. Haze will be used where possible, venue permitting. What age is the performance suitable for? This performance is suitable for all ages, however, there are some intense lighting and sound moments throughout the evening, and we would recommend parental discretion. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult (18+). What are the seating arrangements? When you book your tickets, you can select which section you would like of unreserved seating. This gives you first-come-first-served access to that section of seating and does not guaratee you a particular seat. We will ensure that all parties are sat together. Is there disabled access? It is incredibly important to us that our performances are accessible to everyone that wants to come - therefore, we have ensured that An Evening of Pink Floyd is accessible to all. We recognise that not all accessibility is visible, therefore we have separated ticketing into two bands - Accessible and Wheelchair Accessible. Please ensure you book the specific ticket for your needs, this way we can make sure we have ample staff and space to make sure you are all as comfortable as possible. From here, our staff will ensure everyone is happy and comfortable. Please note that companion tickets are free of charge, when purchased with an Accessible Ticket. What is the view like in the restricted view section? The restricted views seats are at the sides of the main nave, and can range from a decent view to being behind a pillar. Musical Arts
"Hello... is there anybody in there?" Let Me In Presents are back, returning for a UK Cathedral Tour , this Autumn, of their brand new production - An Evening of Pink Floyd - following their sell-out, acclaimed tour of An Evening of Radiohead . It promises to be a spectacular live show featuring a full live band, vocalists and a string & brass ensemble, performing in some of the most breathtaking buildings in the UK. Witness the iconic sound of Pink Floyd's vast and ethereal catalogue of music, performed live by the acclaimed Let Me In House Band , alongside the Mike Nowland String and Brass Ensemble - featuring a total of 18 musicians, embodying the timeless songs of one of the most popular artists of all time. Expect to hear hits and hidden gems from across their discography, with a particular focus on the inimitable run of records from the 1970s, including Dark Side of The Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall. We are welcoming the return of the acclaimed band from An Evening of Radiohead, featuring additional musicians to employ the great, epic sound created by The band will be fronted by Christopher Buckle and Musical Director - Ewan Steady , and will include musicians and Floyd lovers - Alfie Woods, Bruce Higgs, Daniel Anketell, Josh Semans, Eleanor Kinsey, Lydia Karaviotis and more. The band will be accompanied by very special guests and nationally renowned string and brass players - Mike Nowland, Mathias Svensson, Caroline Bodimead, Kate Scrivens, Laurie Dempsey, Hannah Paterson, Julian Turner, Andy Clennell & Chris Beagles. NOTE - We believe that the arts have both the potential and responsibility to support the strengthening of communities and in actively fighting against injustices that provide a select few in society opportunities that should be accessible to everyone. It is incredibly important to us that our performances are accessible to everyone that wants to come - therefore, we have ensured that An Evening of is accessible to all. What is the view like in the "restricted view" section? The restricted views seats are at the sides of the main nave, and can range from a decent view to being behind a pillar. These are unreserved, so you can end up getting a great spot if you arrive early, however, the price reflects the inconsistency of these views. Will there be refreshments on site? There will be an affordable selection of refreshments being sold on site, and you are encouraged to buy from the on site bar to help the Cathedral continue the community engagement work it does. Will there be parking on site? There are various car parks nearby to the venue, including city centre parking. Will there be toilets on site? Yes, there are toilets on site. Christmas Celebration
Always a winning concert, with a combination of pieces that our audience loves, this concert celebrates the magic of Christmas and brings people together for a sensational evening of wonderful music. Tchaikovsky’s elegant Nutcracker Suite leads on from Brahms’ serious Hungarian Dance No. 5, before Strauss II introduces us to the boundless exuberance of the Polish March in his Trisch-Trasch Polka. In the concert’s penultimate work Tchaikovsky transports the evening to the magical halls of snowy Tsarist Russia with a regal waltz from his ballet Sleeping Beauty. The evening reaches its climax with the famous Blue Danube Waltz, not only proving the crowning jewel of a fabulous night’s worth of music, but the coronation of Johann Strauss II as the master of the Viennese waltz. Programme to include: Strauss - Die Fledermaus Overture Strauss - Trisch-Trasch Polka Tchaikovsky - Sleeping Beauty Waltz Brahms - Hungarian Dance No. 5 Tchaikovsky - Nutcracker Suite Strauss - Blue Danube Information Source: Candlelight Concerts | eventbrite
