TPT Live - Tempe, AZ (April 26) | Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix Tempe, University Research Park
Apr 26, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Tempe
It’s time to launch your TPT success story! Join us at TPT Live in Tempe, AZ on April 26.
TPT Live is a half-day, hands-on workshop for Teacher-Authors where you’ll learn foundational best practices for building your TPT store and maximizing the tools available in your Seller account. Are you fairly early in your TPT journey and looking to grow your emerging business? This event is for you! At the workshop, you’ll get practical strategies for success and walk away feeling confident and ready to unlock your store’s full potential.
What to expect
We’ll start the day hearing from Maribel, an experienced Teacher-Author, behind
Learning in Wonderland
. With 20 years of teaching experience, primarily in second grade, Maribel has been a TPT seller since 2012. She is dedicated to crafting resources that not only save teachers time but also help students thrive. For Maribel, each day is a success if a child can say they had fun while learning something new. With over 59,000 followers on TPT and more than 500 top-rated resources, she’s eager to share her journey and the valuable insights she’s gained as a Teacher-Author.
Then, Team TPT will walk through actionable strategies for success, including:
The essential components of quality, in-demand resources
How to set up a storefront that showcases your amazing work
Tips for maximizing your product listings
How to use data from your Seller Dashboard to drive growth
Where to find TPT Seller resources and ongoing support
And more!
We’ll also provide dedicated time to network and collaborate with your fellow Teacher-Authors over lunch.
Who is this event for?
This event will cover beginner and early-intermediate topics, so it’s best suited for Teacher-Authors with developing stores. Maybe you recently created a Seller account, but you’re not sure where to start when it comes to listing your resources. Or perhaps you’re making steady sales, but want to know how to take your business to the next stage. If this sounds like you, we hope you’ll join us! Otherwise, we invite Teacher-Authors of all levels of experience to join us at our annual conference, TPT Forward.
Do I need a Seller account to attend?
A Seller account is not required to attend TPT Live. If you’re interested in starting a TPT store, this event is perfect for you! If you do find you’d like to create a Seller account before the event, you can find steps to do so
here
.
How is TPT Live different from TPT Forward?
TPT Live is a half-day workshop that’s best suited for Teacher-Authors who are somewhat early in their TPT journeys. During the workshop, a member of Team TPT will share the foundational elements of a successful TPT store and advice for maximizing all the tools available in your Seller account. It’s a much more intimate event than our annual conference. This smaller size allows us to provide individualized attention at TPT Live.
TPT Forward, on the other hand, is our biggest event of the year, and it takes place over three days. It’s suited to Teacher-Authors of all levels, and hundreds of Sellers in the community attend. Each day you can choose which Seller-led sessions you’d like to attend, so you can take a deep dive into the topics that are most important to you. Example topics covered include social media marketing, building an email list, creating efficient workflows, leveraging the latest apps and tools, unlocking insights from data, and more. You’ll also get to experience the inspirational Keynote and Seller Stories, networking opportunities, and fun social events.
Important notes:
Lunch is on us! We’ll also provide coffee to fuel your day. We will make efforts to accommodate common dietary restrictions. If you have specific or unique dietary requirements, feel free to bring your own lunch!
This event is highly interactive and will have a limited number of participants so we can provide the best experience to each attendee.
Please bring your laptop in order to follow along and participate in the activities during TPT Live.
Complimentary parking is available at the Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix/Tempe University Research Park.

Gary Holt: A Fabulous Disaster | Changing Hands Bookstore
Apr 27, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Tempe
Exodus guitarist and main songwriter Gary Holt (also member of Slayer from 2011 to 2019) visits Changing Hands Tempe to sign copies of his memoir.
ABOUT THE LIVE EVENT
Registration is required.
All tickets are general admission and include one (1) signed copy of
A Fabulous Disaster
.
This is a meet-and-greet booksigning only. There will be no seated presentation.
Up to three (3) items may be signed.
ABOUT THE
BOOK
From prolific metal guitarist and songwriter for Exodus (and formerly Slayer) Gary Holt comes a deeply personal memoir of his "destruction-laden" life, along with a firsthand account of the genesis of the Thrash Metal scene, from its origins in the Bay Area to its world domination.
As the guitarist and primary songwriter of Exodus and one of the originators of heavy metal, Gary Holt watched as his peers--Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax--soared to superstardom. As his fellow artists amassed millions of fans and record sales, Exodus' albums received critical recognition and inspired generations of listeners--but struggled to reach the same heights of success, as the band was plagued by years of bad management, bad luck, and bad decisions.
A Fabulous Disaster
follows our narrator through the highest of highs and lowest of lows as he and his bandmates juggle major label contracts, MTV-sponsored tours and festivals, growing addictions to alcohol and meth, and the loss of key founding members. Ultimately, after the tragic death of one of his closest friends and former bandmates--Holt decides to save himself. Newly sober and determined to resurrect his career, he commits himself to Exodus, pushing the band to new heights.
An "unadulterated odyssey through decades of insanity," punctuated by Holt's unique insight and knack for storytelling,
A Fabulous Disaster
is a thrill ride from start to finish. His story proves that redemption--even from the pits of rock 'n' roll excess--is always possible.

ABOUT THE
BOOK
Junior Library Guild Selection
This debut teen graphic novel from social media influencer Jyoti Chand and rising star illustrator Tara Anand follows one girl’s journey navigating high school and her mental health within a traditional South Asian family. Perfect for fans of Netflix’s
Never Have I Ever
and Tillie Walden’s
Spinning
.
All Nitasha’s parents want is for her to be the perfect Indian daughter—something she is decidedly not. Everything she does seems to disappoint them, especially her mom. They just don’t get that she’ll never be like her doctor older brother. To make matters worse, she’s never quite felt like she belongs at school either, and lately, her best friend, Ava, and her crush, Henry, seem to be more interested in the rich new girl than in her.
Alcohol takes the edge off, but when that doesn’t work, Nitasha turns to cutting. She can’t stop asking herself: Will she ever be enough for her friends or her family? Or even for herself?
This authentic and powerful teen graphic novel shines a light on how harmful the stigma of mental illness is and how lifesaving a community that is honest about mental health can be.

Dreaming of Home
.
ABOUT THE
BOOK
A MacArthur "Genius" shares her inspiring story, from undocumented newcomer to leader in a powerful immigrant youth movement.
Dreaming of Home
is a coming-of-age story for both a young woman finding her true self and a social movement of immigrant youth trailblazers who inspired the world and changed the lives of millions.
Cristina Jiménez's family fought to stay afloat as Ecuador fell into a political and economic crisis. When she was thirteen, her family came to the US seeking a better life, landing in an overcrowded one-bedroom apartment in Queens, New York. She lived in fear of deportation and ashamed of being undocumented, but eventually, Cristina discovered she was not alone. She made it into college when students and advocates won a change in the law, allowing undocumented students to access higher education. She was proud to be the first one in her family to go to college, but she felt out of place until she met professors and student activists who opened a new world where she found her calling within a community of social justice organizers.
With deep candor and humor, Cristina shows us what it's like to grow up undocumented and the reality that being a "good" immigrant doesn't shield you from systemic racism, danger--or even the confusion of falling in love. She invites us to acknowledge the America that never was and to imagine the America that could be when everyday people come together, build power, and fight for change, even when the world around us seems to be crumbling.
ABOUT THE
AUTHOR
Cristina
Jiménez
is an award-winning community organizer and a leading voice in movements for social justice. She is Co-Founder and former Executive Director of United We Dream, the largest immigrant youth-led organization in the country. A Distinguished Lecturer at the City University of New York, Jimenez received a 2017 MacArthur Fellowship and a spot on the 2018 TIME 100 Most Influential People List. She came to the U.S from Ecuador in 1998 and grew up undocumented in Queens, N.Y.
ABOUT THE
MODERATOR
Raquel Terán
was born in Arizona and grew up on the border between the U.S. and Mexico. She is a mom, a wife, and a proud graduate of Arizona State University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. She has spent her life building power in the Latino community. As a leader in the movement to fight back against racist bills like Arizona's SB 1070 and to oust Sheriff Joe Arpaio for terrorizing communities across Arizona, Raquel was at the forefront demonstrating what our community can accomplish when we work together.
It wasn’t long before Raquel traded her megaphone for a microphone: she served in the Arizona State House and Senate, where she fought every day to make it easier to provide for our families by investing in our schools, making our neighborhoods safe, and bringing good jobs back to Arizonans. Then, as the Chair of the Arizona Democratic Party, she brought together a broad coalition to elect a Democratic U.S. Senator, Governor, Attorney General, and Secretary of State in Arizona for the first time in decades.
Now, Raquel leads Aquí Estamos PAC to continue her life’s work of building power and serving her community.

is a coming-of-age story for both a young woman finding her true self and a social movement of immigrant youth trailblazers who inspired the world and changed the lives of millions.

ABOUT THE

ABOUT THE
BOOK
A hitmaking songwriter and a bitter musician share a startling and inexplicable connection that they'll do anything to shake, in the next sparkling, magical book from Ashley Poston.
Joni Lark has a secret. She's one of the most coveted songwriters in LA, and yet she can't write. There's an emptiness inside her, and nothing seems to fill it.
When she returns to her hometown of Vienna Shores, North Carolina, she hopes that the sand, the surf, and the concerts at The Revelry, her family's music venue, will spark inspiration. But when Joni gets there, nothing is how she left it. Her best friend is hiding something, her mother's memories are fading fast, and The Revelry is closing.
How can Joni write when her world is leaving her behind?
Until she hears it. A melody in her head, lyric-less and half-formed, and an alluring and addictive voice to go with it--belonging, apparently, to a wry musician with an emptiness of his own.
Surely, he's a figment of Joni's overworked imagination.
Then a very real man shows up in Vienna Shores. He's arrogant and guarded--nothing like the sweet, funny voice in Joni's head--and he has a plan for breaking their inconvenient telepathic connection: finish the song haunting them both and hope they don't risk their hearts--or their secrets--in the process.
Because that melody, the one drawing them together . . . what if it's there for a reason?
