Together, they'll discuss the discovery of never-before-seen negatives from Ormerod's archive, themes throughout his work, and the legacy of one of the most incisive British photographers of the 20th century. It seems that everything my father did was intended to raise questions rather than insist on answers. Perhaps that is why the obsession with horizons, vanishing points and ends of the road are common themes throughout his work - Ali OrmerodMichael Ormerod's first exhibition took place at the eponymous Zelda Cheatle Gallery in London, shortly after his untimely passing in 1991. The “Open Life Class” is a relaxed and enjoyable life drawing & painting course with a life model. The model will pose for short lengths of time, ranging from 1 minute – 20 minutes. Students will be able to approach the human figure in any way they please and do as many drawings or paintings as they care to pursue with as much or as little instruction as they like. SEE COURSE SCHEDULE Who can book and Open Life session? Your experienced tutor will happily guide both beginners as well as those who are more experienced. What materials will you need? Students should feel free to use whichever materials they enjoy using the most, whether that is drawing in charcoal or ink or painting in oils or acrylics. Taking inspiration from Bethlem Gallery’s exhibition Our Eyes Will Dance by Courtney, Julie will lead a drawing workshop exploring character and gesture through mark making. Julie Verhoeven’s eclectic output is extensive across art, fashion and moving image. Julie's formal training was in fashion and she is primarily known for her fashion illustrations and fashion collaborations with Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Versace and most recently, Yours Truly by Peter Jensen. Julie has directed music videos for David Holmes, and Primal Scream and in 2023 published a book of collaborative works, ‘I want your meat and cheese, blood and pie’ with artist Alan Faulds. Mab George Sanders is an installation and performance artist whose illustration style runs through make up, fashion, performance and film to generate immersive environments with families of characters. London’s first Trans choir, designed to make use of unique voices and offer a safe and welcoming environment for all of us to be heard. The choir is non-auditioned and open to all; we’ll never ask you to disclose or prove your identity. If you feel this is the choir for you, you are welcome.
