Book Therapy with Hazel Hayes Bibliotherapy for Love and Heartbreak Introducing a new Aphra series in partnership with The London Edition Hotel - Book Therapy. Each month we will be bringing together writers and readers for live bibliotherapy talks, sharing books and personal stories aligning with specific chapters of life. Our first event is themed on Bibliotherapy for Love and Heartbreak hosted with Hazel Hayes, Irish author and filmmaker writing on bisexuality and love in her novels Out of Love and Better by Far. This 'in conversation' event with Hazel will explore the books that captured her heart and influenced her writing, the books she recommends for those looking for romantic reading or heart healing, and her writing process. Hazel's writing is aptly described as for anyone who has loved and lost, and lived to tell the tale . Better by Far is a story that follows a breakup between Kate and Finn, who decide to keep sharing their house until the lease runs out in twelve weeks' time, alternating week by week so that they are occupying the same space but never at the same time. Practically, the plan makes sense, but coming back each Sunday to a home where Finn has been and gone feels far too much like living with a ghost. Kate lost her mother at a young age and now this fresh grief dredges unhealed sorrows up to the surface, and soon, Kate finds herself adrift in her own subconscious, trapped in the liminal space between loving someone and letting go. Tickets are £15 and include a signed copy of Hazel's latest novel, Better by Far. Information Source: The London EDITION | eventbrite

GRAVEL CENTRAL: Escape the City, Embrace the Trails Step into Gravel Central, where the city fades away, and the adventure begins. We’ve teamed up again this year with Andrew and Philip from North London Dirt who have created another gem of a route. This 100KM gravel ride is your chance to break free, taking on the hidden trails, wooded paths, and forgotten routes that lie just beyond the urban sprawl. Expect a mix of single track, tarmac, and gravel as you navigate the route—details will be shared the week before the ride. Starting and finishing at VIA Atelier in Kings Cross, sign-on opens at 07:00 and runs until 09:00. Kick off your ride with complimentary coffee and homemade cake, and look forward to a well-earned beer or soft drink upon your return. The ride typically takes between 4 to 6 hours, depending on pace, and the VIA team will be ready to welcome you back, eager to hear tales from the trails. Ideal for gravel bikes, but mountain and cyclocross bikes with tires 35mm and up are also welcome. This is a non-profit event, with all proceeds going to Hackey Migrant Centre Your ticket also enters you into a prize draw at the end of the day, with goodies from our partners Mission Workshop, POC and Rapha.
