The exhibit stems from a powerful act of allyship by San Francisco-based artist Joy Chew. Inspired by the unjust treatment of transgender lawmaker Zooey Zephyr in Montana, Joy created a stunning art foiled print titled "Let Her Speak!" to amplify Zooey's voice and donate it to the SF LGBT Center. Encouraged by the impact of her work, Joy decided to extend her support by donating more art foiled prints of LGBTQ+ ICONS from San Francisco and around the world.
From October to January 2024, the SF LGBT Center will proudly showcase these vibrant art foiled images on the 2nd Floor. To commemorate the LGBTQ+ ICONS and Joy Chew's Act of Allyship, we cordially invite you to a special Meet & Greet event on Tuesday, November 7th. Improv 3: Commitment to Craft is a six-week course focusing on the development of essential skills for creating believable scenes onstage. This class, designed for adults only (18+), offers a crash course on craft, providing participants with the tools needed to rely on their senses and create detailed space object environments and interesting characters. Led by instructor Diana Brown, this course emphasizes the importance of commitment to craft and the training required to become a skilled improviser.
In order to register, an access code from a previous instructor is required. Students should have completed Improv 2: Authentic Relationships or obtained instructor approval as a prerequisite. The course will take place on Wednesdays from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, starting on November 8, 2023. The BATS coach will be hosting all the jams, ensuring a supportive and engaging environment. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, we have community standards, a conflict process, and a COVID prevention policy in place. Make sure to review and agree to these policies during registration.
Please note that the In-Person Sunday Jam with Laura Wachtel has a limited class size of 16 students. The tuition for this two-hour session is $30 per individual. If you bring a buddy, the tuition is reduced to $25. Additionally, if you gather a group of four, the tuition further decreases to $20 per person.
If you need to cancel your registration, please do so at least 96 hours (4 days) before the class begins to receive a refund. Please be aware that a 15% processing fee will be deducted. However, if you cancel within 96 hours of the first class or anytime after attending the first session, your tuition will be forfeited. In the event of insufficient enrollment, BATS will refund your tuition in full.
