The State of Internal Trade - CIC Politics in the Pub | The Old Triangle Irish Alehouse
Jun 23, 2025 (UTC-3)ENDED
Halifax
Please join us for our next
Politics in the Pub
event:
The State of Internal Trade
! Mark your calendars for an engaging evening on
June
23 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Old Triangle
in downtown Halifax.
We're delighted to host
R
yan Manucha -
a leading expert on interprovincial trade in Canada. Ryan is working on the front lines dismantling trade barriers across the country by supporting governments through his deep research and advocacy. He will share with us an overview of the topic of internal trade, where the issue stands, how we got here, and the outlook.
Ryan penned multiple popular articles (like
this one
) and insightful policy reports (like
this one
). However, my favourite piece of his work remains his phenomenal book -
Booze, Cigarettes, And Constitutional Dust-ups: Canada's Quest For Interprovincial Free Trade Book By Ryan Manucha, (Paperback) | Indigo
. It is engaging, full of fascinating stories and anecdotes about trade between Canadian provinces and territories. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to better understand our unique country!
In recent months, breaking down interprovincial trade has gained historical momentum. First, it was driven by the shifting international trade environment and then by Nova Scotia passing a "game changer" legislation - Free Trade and Mobility within Canada Act. Even His Majesty King Charles III, King of Canada mentioned in the Speech from the Throne the commitment of the federal government "to remove all remaining federal barriers to internal trade and labour mobility by Canada Day."
As we are approaching the July 1 deadline to dismantle internal trade barriers, Ryan is without doubt one of the best people to ask your questions about the history, present and possible future of Canada's internal trade.
Reserve your spot today!
Spaces are limited! Don’t miss this unique opportunity to be part of a vibrant discussion in a relaxed and social atmosphere.
