The SpringStein All-Stars perform "Born to Run" | Temperance
May 17, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Bath
BORN TO RUN - Bruce Springsteen's classic album Hot on the heels of the sold out Born in the USA 40th anniversary set this past November, our friendly neighbourhood American ex-pat/Upton Blues music director Stein brings back The SpringStein All Stars on 17th May to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bruce Springsteen’s seminal, breakthrough 1975 album, Born to Run.
The All Stars, featuring (at least) 3 lead vocalists, boast some of Temperance’s favourite local musicians from the likes The Twin Flames, WLDFLWRS and Blood on Blood. Now, with a few new tricks (and special guests!) up their collective sleeves, and armed again with guitar, dobro, bass, harmonica, violin, banjo and percussion (… and, of course, autoharp… and possibly accordion!) the band will reinterpret, recreate and pay homage to the entire record live for this very unique matinee performance. The perfect way to spend a Satuday afternoon. Always sells-out, so get your ticket well in advance.

Feedback from a previous talk with Belinda Brown in September ‘23.
‘What an absolutely wonderful evening – I feel very privileged to have been part of the conversation with Belinda. It’s so rare to be able to have such an open discussion amongst a close group about the challenges and ambitions we all have. Belinda is indeed a phenomenal woman and I learnt so much and was so inspired so a huge well done for organising.
Kind regards and thank you again – truly inspiring!’

Tales from the Ukrainian East with Victoria Donovan at Waterstones Bath | Waterstones
May 28, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Bath
A cultural portrait of eastern Ukraine, and an urgent, essential read.
Since the start of Russia’s war against Ukraine in 2014, its eastern region – Donbas – has been synonymous with conflict. With the escalation of that war in 2022, its cities such as Bakhmut and Lysychansk have become familiar to us through the images and reports of brutal devastation. Victoria Donovan excavates a rich, multicultural history of this area, and paints a radically different picture.
Travelling from the dramatic, jagged peaks of Bilokuzmynivka to the marshland of Mariupol, from a warehouse rave to an abandoned gypsum mine, the physical world and its importance to this region’s identity is brought to vivid life. But above all else, by speaking to those whose lives are embedded there now – curators, artists, railway workers, young people who have grown up amidst instability and destruction – Donovan amplifies local voices and reveals the intensely personal lived reality of Putin’s war.
Revelatory, evocative and deeply humane,
Life In Spite of Everything
is a celebration of a country’s past and present, and its people’s tenacity, creativity and independence.

KU.LTURE Present ILLYUS & BARRIENTOS | Saint Judes Glasgow
May 31, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Bath
Hailing from Scotland’s largest city, Illyus & Barrientos have been blazing a trail in the Dance Music scene. The pair consistently channel their varied influences into all of their records, consistently offering something truly unique with each record and performance. Barrientos has Chilean parents and was born in America, while Illyus grew up in Frankfurt after being born in Scotland. They met on Glasgow’s dance floors in 2014, building a friendship over their mutual love of the kind of unashamedly big, floor-filling modern house tunes that have since informed their own music and propelled them to the forefront of the UK Dance Music scene. In many ways, they are an odd couple – while Illyus was growing up in the vibrant local hip-hop scene in Germany, and then in Glasgow distributing early mixtapes for an enthusiastic audience of friends, Barrientos was still taking classical piano lessons, playing Chopin and Beethoven. The culmination of their diverse ascensions to this point continues to produce anthem after anthem. With a collection of releases on labels such as Toolroom, Defected, and Armada, as well as remixes for the likes of Calvin Harris, Purple Disco Machine, Armand Van Helden, Sonny Fodera, Kylie Minogue, A-Trak, and Gorgon City, Illyus & Barrientos have established themselves as one of the most prolific and in-demand DJ-producer duos in the UK. They’ve performed at standout venues such as London’s iconic Printworks, CRSSD (USA), Ushuaia (Ibiza), and supported the likes of Calvin Harris, and Rudimental. Furthermore, they’ve already released a wealth of records of the years with their most notable single ‘Promise’ picking up overwhelming support and smashing it’s way through 6.5M+ streams to date. Furthermore, Illyus & Barrientos have graced the playlists of internationally recognised radio stations Kiss FM UK,Capital Dance and BBC Radio 1 as well as hosting a number of shows on Kiss FM UK.

Speed Dating in Bath for 40s & 50s | The Huntsman, Bath
Jun 3, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Bath
How Speed Dating Works in Bath
When you arrive at the Bath venue you will be greeted by our friendly professional hosts. Once everyone has arrived and registered we will briefly explain the format of the evening. The ladies will then be asked to make their way to their allocated table. Once the ladies are seated the gentlemen will be asked to proceed to their first date.
You will have 4 minutes to chat to each date, once the 4 minutes is over we will ring a bell to indicate the time is up and for the gentlemen to move to their next date. Four minutes is long enough to see if you click with the person you are talking to and whether you would like to see them again and also short enough if you don't.
At the end of each date you have a brief few moments to make some notes on the person you have just dated. This is something to help jog your memory for the post event matching process the next day.
Half way through the event you will have an interval break so you can nip to the toilet or top up your drink. Once all the dates are over you have the opportunity to stay on at the venue to mingle freely with others. Please remember to take your dating card home with you to assist you in entering in your ticks and potential matches.
Post Event
No later than 11am the following morning our matching system will be unlocked for you to enter your ticks from the previous evening. You have all day to tick as many people as you like from the night before. We guarantee you will find someone you will want to see again, otherwise we will give you your next

Bath Bodyart Weekend 2025 | Field Good Bar
Jun 6, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Bath
Bath Bodyart Weekend is a three day mini festival for those who like a bit of sparkle in their lives!
Ever fancied trying your hand at henna, face or body painting or glitter art? How about gem clusters, festival hair or prop making? Would you like to walk the catwalk, bringing original artwork to life? Or just sit by the fire, enjoy some live music, while the kids fly kites and learn to juggle? Come and let our artists decorate you with all things colourful and sparkly!
This is a relaxed, family friendly, mini festival for all things bodyart related. Held in a beautiful corner of the Somerset countryside, within walking distance of the historical city of Bath, this is an opportunity for those with an interest in body art, in any of its many forms, to gather with like minded creatives and indulge their passion, without the premium price tag that usually comes attached.
Family friendly with live music, entertainment, retailers and stalls, competitions and workshops. Learn a new skill with the opportunity to browse niche professional products, usually only available on line.
Although primarily a body art event, encompassing everything from facepainting, glitter and festival makeup through to henna and full bodypainting, this friendly gathering is as much for the complete newcomer as it is for the experienced professional. We go out of our way to make sure that kids and families are well catered for because this allows the adults to relax. It is very difficult to get the creative juices flowing with bored children demanding attention so we see facilities like a free bouncy castle and circus skills workshops as an essential part, every bit as important as the paint and the glitter!
Unless otherwise stated, all tickets include camping and KIDS GO FREE!
This year's competition theme will be announced shortly
